I've also been thinking about friendships a lot these past few months, especially since relocating. (I even did like 3 episodes about it on my podcast). I totally agree about the fact that many people are not willing to put in effort and inconvenience themselves + what you said about letting people know what you need. We need to become more vulnerable really. People are scared to be vulnerable and ask for what they need and it limits how friendships can grow and deepen

Hi Maz. Great podcast. It’s quite true what you said that some of the meanest people out there call themselves Christians. But then there’s also the flip side, that not everyone who is kind/nice to you is meant to be a friend either. Same goes for relationships. Kindness is just a basic courtesy we must extend to each other. It can be tricky especially in church where everyone is nice and smiley, but still have their cliques, i.e the people they gravitate toward more. So I guess friendship has to be organic in that sense. You mentioned to use wisdom even in kindness. I agree! There’s a fine line between being kind and being a people pleaser. I’ve had to learn that no matter how “nice” you are people can still leave 😂. So kindness can’t be transactional with this goal of wanting to keep someone around. Must be genuine.

I can relate to what you said about pried and envy, seeing your friends in a different way. I have been there before, it got so so bad I had to pray I kept praying and it because that’s not the type of friend I want to be, I never want to have thoughts of envy or jealousy towards my friends. At the time when I was going through this, Ezinne Zara spoke a little about jealousy on one of her videos and it was such a timely word for me. Thank you for every single podcast episode Maz 🥺🥹💕 you are really a gift to this generation!!! Your teachings make me feel so close to God, I always finish every podcast episode with a full heart and a mouth ready to pour out to God everything I’ve learnt from just that single episode.
