The yellow rings could be tree pollen collecting on the puddles, unfortunate getting stuck and some damage,the Dewalt came in handy! Good sense of humor in the situation "if we didn't make it at least we got eaten somewhere where we're happy" lol.

HAHA You beat the SHIT out of that poor ol snow drift. I'm glad you understand how things can turn deadly very fast in this country. I have kit suggestions for you: tire plugs, tire chains, a two ton or better come-a-long, the longest farmers jack you can fit, a tow strap. You could have avoided a lot of churning with that stuff on board. As my dad always told me... More animals see you than you see of them.CHeers guys! Stay safe!

i dont like to spend money that i dont have , once i had a top rad hose blow and the only way to get home without calling someone to tow me , was to wrap a plastic bag around the hose and then use string from my shoes to keep it tight enough so it would not leak , kept the rad lid on the first notch so it did not build up pressure , it was on an old 4 cyl diesel quarter ton . i wont bore you with my come a long stories . those things come in handy thats for sure .

Air down too 15psi will help a lot and invest in some MaxTrax. They are a life saver in that situation... you can also use a few roofing shingles. A HiLift jack works well as it doubles as a come along winch. On trails like that coast across the icey snow any throttle can send into the ditch or off the side.

Easier and cheaper to take out one link of chain if its padlocked shut. At least then if there is an issue you only end up paying for the one link. Used to get this a lot back home, on illegal closures of legal byways. Carry boltcutters.

When travelling in remote areas where there is no communication it's wise to make a contact on your destination end point. Explain your route and give them an estimated time of arrival. Then if you don't arrive within a reasonable time frame, someone can begin searching for you. Some of those logging roads might not have a vehicle a month or longer. Toilet paper or paper towels on the ground make good SOS markers, easily visible from the air if you get lost or stranded.

I love all the armchair mechanics out there talking about tire plug kits. Tire plugs are gone work if you get a nail into it. Chris specifically said that there was over an inch gash in it. You think you can just plug that!?? I’d be willing to bet he HAS a tire plug kit.... for when it’s appropriate.

geordi , i remember one time someone was on their last spare tire and got a three inch cut in the side wall , all they had was the spare tires and tire glue , the plugs would not have helped enough . they took the tire off the bead and using a piece of the other tire with some of the tire patch glue and a heated iron pipe and melted a patch inside , it got them to a gas station . that been said i went through worst with a rear wheel drive car . just gotta learn how to do it the right way , either slowly back and forth using the brake everytime you shift so you dont jar the trans , or take a run at it , its just like sledding up in the mountains , point the vehicle where you want to go and hit it fast using the rear of the truck to guide you .

i use to do what he just did , and it was my fun time . thats why i am such a good driver , i learnt how to drive in all conditions at a young age . i remember going down a muddy back road back in the day and no matter how hard i tried i could not get back out on the road , so i took the ditch , the grass helped for traction , once i got up to speed i went from the ditch back onto the road and made it , was a two wheel drive . growing up on a farm is the best life for learning .

Yes its called having an adventure, sure we could stay on the highway and in motels but what fun would that be? Life is too short not to have some fun and take a risk or two. Nobody got hurt and nobody needed to come out and help us, we now have another awesome story to tell the grandkids, unlike the people sat at home telling us how to live our lives who spend every evening of their life berating people on KZbin. These people have never and will never do anything worth talking about, if they did you wouldn't be here watching my little life, they would be out doing their own thing. Thanks for stopping by!

Godforsaken Customs -- I think you're being naive when you state EVERYONE following your trip hasn't got a clue. There's people on here that know EXACTLY what trouble you can run into (FIRST-HAnd knowledge-been there done that) on a mountain back-road. I think you should heed some of the warnings you've been given, like you stated yourself, you ain't in the U.K. That said, I'm glad you're showing respect for the bears, they're hungry this time of year, but there's also cougar, wolves and wolverines. Be safe in the backcountry, that's my 2 cents.

+Jim D. Colgan I agree with your comments. I defended him o. his first few videos that got everyone upset at them.. now I will no longer defend a self proclaimed no it all..
@GodforsakenCustoms
@GodforsakenCustoms 6 жыл бұрын
@Mel Colp, you are always trying to impress someone for a response whether that be a troll, another commenter or us ourselves. I see all the comments, you have never defended us, and at what point have I claimed to be a know it all? No I made it clear that we know what kind of situation we are putting ourselves in that is all. I don't want to end up a bitter old man full of regret like yourself, we want to live every day to its fullest. I've seen all the BS you've put on Pugs channel too, so don't make out you are a supporter of ours. @Jim D.Colgan, Sorry to tar everyone with the same brush, that wasn't the intention, that comment was mainly aimed at certain individuals, like you say there has been some invaluable advice lent to us from many of our supporters. Let me assure you we are outdoors people with the utmost respect for mother nature and all her trials and tribulations that she brings us. I think people aren't aware that we are more equipped than they think we are, but I'm not into making a point of making videos about that. If people think we are out in the back country with nothing on hand that is up to them. We are as equipped as we can afford to be right now, believe me an animal encounter is the last thing we want. Our safety whilst having fun is of the utmost importance. Obviously I'd love a new truck with a lift, tires, winches, machine guns etc but you don't need all that to still have an adventure, and that's the point we are here to prove. It doesn't take much money to still live your life to the fullest. Having said that a firearm would be a nice addition to the gear but we can't afford that right now, who knows maybe one day if KZbin were to ever take off, we might one day end up with all that. Until then we have to take extra precaution while out in the woods, but people aren't going to want to watch me scouring every last piece of the woods in silence every minute or so while walking, or going round the perimeter of our campsite at night with a flashlight every night before bed, or waking up regularly through the night to check the area again. We are fully aware of the danger and doing everything to minimalise it Thanks again!

get a tire plug/repair kit . they cost around 10 or 15 bucks .. I have seen people ratchet strap a chunk of 2x4 to their wheel to get them self unstuck .. -also- I made myself a bunch of these cleats by cutting a piece if stop sign pole as wide as my tire , then cut in half length wise and you then have 2 -u- channels you then zip-tie or ratchet strap them on your tire ,

You want the different size tire on the front. You don't want 2 diff size tires on the rear where your power is going. That's how u destroy the differential. If it is on the front it's just free spinning it doesn't matter.

I was just thinking that too! LOL and also next tires should be 10 ply! Well I hope they make videos of trying to get tires and exhaust,...I worry about getting repairs when I cross country alone in isolated areas,....

The spider gears can take up the difference in the tires.

yea im sure it can , you probably should drive around like that all the time then? yeah it may not instantly blow to bits but its hurting the diff and not helping. You would much rather have it on the front, not under power and load.
