Godin 5th Avenue Archtop | Guitar for a Pianist

I loved my Gibson ES125TC. The GODIN 5th Avenue is comparable to that guitar. I played everything from Travis Style picking to rockabilly (old school; not overdriven). The great thing about the my Gibson ES125TC and the Godin 5th Avenue is that you can play the entire neck and it'll be a in tune as possible. The way you describe your love of the 5th Avenue is *exactly* how I felt about my Gibson. And because it was plywood, I did bring it everywhere. I love your guitar and I really love and appreciate how much you enjoy playing the Godin!! What a beautiful guitar!

I really adore this guitar, as someone who really hates big bright acoustic sounds this is a perfect archtop for someone not bothered shelling out for something absurd. Nice and dark, almost evil sounding if you can get it right.

I just bought one, 2xP90 Pups, & the Cutaway off AMZN for $800 on Sun, ir arrives today on Tuesday!!!!!! I got a discount as the same Guitar 24 hours after my purchase was $920 or so!!!! I can't wait to get it!!!! I love the Price point as I didn't want to "Break the Bank"... Will be an AWESOME addition to my Guitar Stable of Stringed Instruments and I'm sure will become a Favorite!!!! Looks so Vintage Retro too!!! Love it!!! Hi, I've just discovered your channel and I am really enjoying it. On the subject of Ukulele, like all guitarists I have a few actually , when I was having computer issues and doing the inevitable waiting involved I picked up the uke and started playing tunes on it and found a lovely almost melancholic tone that I was drawn to. I have since used it in this way in one of my art type compositions. Maybe try that sometime.

" The ukulele is the cockroach of the string family". Brilliant and even though I made them professionally and have played them off an on since I was a kid, I just can't warm up to them. In that same family is the cavaquinho. The Brazilian version of the ukulele, an entirely different animal. I now make those. I have the identical 5th Ave , bought it new many years ago. My go to even over my Martins. . One essential modification for the 5th Ave series is to replace the space age plastic bridge with an ebony or rosewood bridge from Stew Mac. Liked and subscribed.

The first 5th Aves had wood bridges. This was changed to their "much improved" wonder bridge made of a composite and now fitted as standard. The tone tanked. The bridges were offered to owners of the original 5th Aves at a modest price of $70 USD. No thanks. Rumor had it (directly from the North West distributor) that this was a cost cutting measure and hyped as a modern miracle. Good luck.

@@jeffhildreth9244 I was wondering why you said the bridge was plastic, but mine is from the first run. Love my 5th Avenue, but it's getting long in the tooth and needs some TLC at the luthier's.

@@Vykk_Draygo The composite (plastic bridges) are garbage.. made to look like wood and ill fitting. A rosewood or ebony replacement from Stewart MacDonald is the remedy.

I have the p90 on mine. Play it through an orange crush 20rt amp and it has such a nice tone

I have one practically identical. They are discontinued for the record. They only make the ones with pickups now. I say practically identical because yuor truss rod plate , on the headstock, is white. Was it changed? I never saw it white before. Looks cool. Also, my pickguard had a big Godin signature, which I didn't like, so I took off the pickguard. I replaced the bridge on mine, for a rosewood one, which sounds mellower than the plastic-like bridge they ship with nowadays. Great cool guitar. Like you I also have a Martin Dreadnought, and when my hands get tired I pick the Godin. :)

I actually took the truss rod plate and flipped it over. Easiest mod ever. 😆

If guitars can have F holes, can violins have round holes?

it's a whole new category. though mandolins, which are essentially fiddles you pluck, are often made with round sound holes. i don't think i've ever seen a violin without f holes. ok, i'll stop saying f holes now.

There was a violin maker in Australia who made the Violare.. it had an oval hole similar to the Selmer Petite bouche.

Yeah , the 5th Ave. isn't good for jazz technique . IMO
