I love these EXCEPT for the teeny, tiny clips for the inner baffle. What a pain.

I just ordered one this morning. I might order a 24x24 for a smaller size two-light setup. I'm using mine with a speedlight flash.

Good luck with that. I almost always use on a Godox light. I do wish there were bigger pop-up sizes.

I was waiting (with popcorn on hand) for you to fold it back up into the little bag - lol. I have the 24" x 24" and transport it folded in a triangle with an alligator clamp holding it together (one frustrating attempt of folding it back into the bag was enough) I enjoy your presentations and style. It's great to see a classic photographer in action. Best wishes and stay safe. Hamish

My assistant, Curtis can do it easily. He has great hand strength. I do not, so I just collapse it to flat. What more could you want? Thanks for watching.

This is my go to light modifier. I love it, especially with the grid. The other modifier I like is the 47 in umbrella style soft box. You will need a boom arm to use that one properly.

Thank you. Nice review. What I like is how clean and sophisticated it looks. Yes it’s not an elite product, but Godox did an incredible job of making it look great.

Tim and Matlyn With my Godox square softboxes, I always remove the egg crate but leave the diffusers on when folding them into their round bag. I just didn't feel that the egg crates would handle folding this way, so I collapse them separately and keep them in the square storage bag along with the round bag containing the soft box. I don't fold them often, but haven't had any trouble doing it this way.

Hi Tim, How well do these collapse down with the grid also in place? Or is that pushing things too far? You said they collapse down with both diffusions on ok though, is that right? Thanks!
@TimKellysMasterPhotoTechniques
@TimKellysMasterPhotoTechniques Жыл бұрын
They collapse vey flat with the diffuser installed. I don't have a grid for those. If not used for a long while, I open them up face down and put some weight on them to regain their original square shape.

is it possible to put the two diffusors in the softbox and fold the box together to the smallest size? or do I have to take these out and in every time?
@TimKellysMasterPhotoTechniques

These small boxes, once you put the diffuser on, are fold flat and go- or pop open and go.

Reminds me that me vendor sent me a 120 cm octabox in stead of the 90 cm that I had ordered. I had no problem with that :-)

How easy is it fold back - that is what I was waiting for. It seems to get quite a few reviews saying forget trying to fold it back.

What I do is to put an extra large trash bag over it & stash it in my car. My bowens ring fit so snugly that I dare not ever take it apart.

Can I use this with the ad600pro? That means a regular bowens mount light? Is there an adapter for it?
@TimKellysMasterPhotoTechniques
@TimKellysMasterPhotoTechniques 3 жыл бұрын
use the S2 ring on my lights. Yes, they are Bowens style. There is no "adapter or fixture" on these boxes. It has a very tight clip-on style I hope you can see in the video. Thanks for watching.

Thanks Tim now I do not need to pull mine out of the bag just yet as i received this from Amazon the other day. I also bought the separate Egg Crate for the sill going around. There is a kit them comes with everything but I noticed it I bought them seperate i saved about $15.00 CAD. Thanks again now I also know I dont have to do anything but not sure if when I fold it if I will need to take the Egg crate of the front.

Great explanation Tim. I'm using V1 and now confusing to choose 80x80 or 60x60 for fashion photograph (indoor and outdoor). Is the Godox V1 powerfull enough with 80x80 for outdoor? Or I just pick up 60x60 for great result. Thanks Tim

Is the Godox V1 powerfull enough, or let´s put it the other way, what is the upper size limit for a Softbox for the V1?
@TimKellysMasterPhotoTechniques
@TimKellysMasterPhotoTechniques 4 жыл бұрын
I'd be happy with a 3'x4' - but haven't found one yet. Bigger than that, I'd make a custom backplate to hold two V1's.

Thanks for the demo, but nobody seems to show the part about getting the ring into the softbox hole. I’m looking to get a second unit but with my first, The fit was so tight that I actually tore the fabric slightly (I taped it up). Am I the only person who had this problem? Did I get a bad unit? ugh!!
@TimKellysMasterPhotoTechniques
@TimKellysMasterPhotoTechniques 3 жыл бұрын
I have three of these boxes. At first I found it SO hard to get the S2 into it. Once you realize it takes some effort, I now appreciate the good fit. Never had anything close to a tear in the fabric. If it's through Amazon, you may be able to get a replacement. Thanks for watching.

It's a Bowen mount that Godox uses. The mounting system for the round head unit (V1) is the S2, The S1 is for traditional rectangular speedlights. Thanks for watching.

Tim, I've had two of the 28" and have been using them for about 2 months. The square shap lets me get them closer to my 8' studio ceiling, and the light is about a full stop brighter that one of my 32" Octagon soft boxes. I've been quite happy with them. About the only thing that I don't like is the sag at the Bowens mount. It would have been an improvement if they had provided a tighter socket for the Bowens adapter. I've been using them mostly with my Godox MS300 monolites but also have the speedlight/Bowens mount adapters and have used them with speedlites. The grids fit well and work great too. Did you get the grids?
@TimKellysMasterPhotoTechniques
@TimKellysMasterPhotoTechniques 4 жыл бұрын
I didn't get a grid yet. I do use them in my strip lights. I'm finding the fit of the S bracket into these boxes to be very tight. Thanks for watching!
@TimKellysMasterPhotoTechniques
@TimKellysMasterPhotoTechniques Жыл бұрын
I don't use any grids in mine. I use the S2 adapter to hold my light. The S2 is very tight in the box but still turns freely. I think that's amazing. I don't experience any sagging with this set up. Thanks for watching!

We never shove them back in bags. We gently fold them like bedding and hang them up well before using them, if possible. Many tips are found in our DVD (in our Classic library section) "Using Muslin Backgrounds. Thanks for watching. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oamXYnmBgL2qb7s

@@TimKellysMasterPhotoTechniques indeed but that’s only half of the process of breaking it down. Everyone including me screws them up trying to get them back in the bag (the first time). That said I totally agree with just leaving them flat instead of trying to break them all the way down. Mine became a twisted mess that took me about 1/2 an hour to figure out how to untwist. After that I adopted the same method as you 🙂 and I leave it flat instead of folded into a circle. Anyway if it does ever twist up on you the best method is to grab the wires one at a time on the Bowen’s mount side and roll them back the correct direction using your loose hand for leverage resting against the other three wires. 👍
