Why you didnt checked tint too, thats why it looked more orange, i advise you to delete this video and make another record, 2 photos with the same temperature and tint
@joefoto9 ай бұрын
Tint is magenta and green hue. Would not have changed the orange. Besides that's not what the test was fully about. It was about how well it can light a room. Thanks for your input though.

As already mentioned, you can’t judge the colour differences until both are set to the same values, temp and tint. A grey target in both images would give you the ability to measure the bias difference in post with the eye dropper. One reason the Magmod looked softer in the wall shadow was due to its translucent design. A lot of light is bouncing off the ceiling and some light is being diffused from the sides. Whereas the Godox is opaque and the light being transmitted is similar around it’s spherical axis.
@joefoto9 ай бұрын
Good point. I didn't think of that. So with that fact, makes me prefer the Godox that much more because I want to throw as much light into the room using the modifier and not so much the ceiling. Thanks for your comment!

I'm getting great results with a ceiling bounce above the camera and then a ceiling pop on the left and right sides of a long room using my AD200 with a round head and blending the shadows out with the ambient exposure. I don't know why I would spend any money on either of these modifiers for real estate photography. As far as the white balance, that is easily fixed in post. That's my experience and two cents worth. Thanks again for all the videos, I know they are not easy to shoot and edit and I appreciate the time and effort you put into that work and share with the community.
@joefoto9 ай бұрын
I 100% agree with everything you said. Rooms where you can't bounce off ceiling, these are good options without having to deal with an umbrella. The ad200 is probably the most popular to use. Thanks again!
@love2cycle29 ай бұрын
@@joefoto For wood or dark ceilings I still would choose a shoot through umbrella; but if space is a problem, then maybe the Godox diffuser may have a place in your bag. I appreciate you and thank you again for your time to read and answer posts. Merry Christmas!

This is such a shame, I thought this was my analogue with Ali Selens Magsphere yellow +400-500K. So the original sphere is the same. And yes guys! this miracle takes 2 stops of light. Using it on an on-camera flash is suicide. On the additional one, just to fill it beautifully with light somewhere on the side or behind the model, yes! Has the right to life. But only in a dark room. Because 2 stops is 2 stops, too many losses.

Joe - thanks for your straighforward video. It was a bit obvious from the beginning which way you were going to tilt, but I do appreciate the side by side. Disclaimer: I'm all in on MagMod as I also do a lot of beach portraits and the convenience of their system is a gamechanger in those types of environments. But I also use it for Flambient RE. You ARE using a Gen 1 magsphere, obviously yellowed, so you will have to us the right custom WB either in camera or post to compensate. A color checker or gray card shot is helpful here. My main point I wanted to make is that I'm having pretty good results using a MagBounce+AD200 for my flambient flash pops and key lights. you can hold it straight up at fan level and basically nearly eliminate fan shadowing and it's a good tool to eliminate color casting from dark ceilings. Would love to see you do a video on that modifier , as it's not an application that MagMod themselves are focused on, but it does work well.

I use the Godox CD15 on a V1 and AD 200 and have been testing the results on a Sony A7III. I heard about these from Adaroma videos and now you. The results I am getting are better than the Bracketed shots that I have been doing. I get way better WB with the Godox setup and have reduced my editing time.

Although I like this video, I think this video is a bit dishonest in that the W/B settings used during your comparisons were not exactly the same. The comparison settings for the MagMod were 4900/25 and 4900/19 for the Godox. Even when you adjusted the MagMod temp to 4590, you never adjusted the tint settings. Tint impacts an image just as much as the temp does. For that reason, the findings were skewed. You replied to another person that the color cast was not the point, but you spoke of it as if it's something for viewers to consider so it becomes a factor. Less knowledgable viewers take what's reported as gospel... at least I did when I first started. Anyway, other than that I really appreciated your detailed shadow comparisons, and this video helped me decide on which one of these devices to purchase. 📸

@@joefoto The one thing that bothered me were the harsh shadows along items in the room are harsher than even bare bulb on a ceiling bounce. even though we can mask those in with an ambient exposure on luminosity we get the weird colour casting that we have to deal with on luminosity. I feel as if that Dom does spread light better overall but causes harsher shadows on items on the walls which drives me nuts
