great video! only the comment on the bare bulb is a little brief - if you use it backfiring at a white umbrella outside during daytime maybe you don't see too much of a difference to the fresnell head. but when using with a proper softbox that lights from behind through two diffusors there is a big difference to the fresnell head, because the open bulb correctly fills all the softbox. of course, if you never use it that way that might not mean much, but if someone does then the open bulb option is an absolute game changer!

Very nice job overall, and for the review and for your food photos! I think in close to average distances 100pro is totally fine/great, but the main point of buying 200pro vs 100pro is when you want to light lets say a big place from way behind like a venue/children theater and you will have to use 100pro at 1/2 and full power all the time. You can easily need 2 or 3 batteries for 100pro and also come across overheating issues (lets also not forget that batteries life decline as you use them and the full power shots wont be 360 for ever). With 200pro you will have to worry much much less about these things.

Great video. Can you help me decide what light to buy next for my kit? I own 2 v860ii s, and just ordered a V1 with the AK modifier kit on sale from B&H. I mainly ordered this because it has faster recycle times than the 860ii's, and I wanted to give the modifiers a try, as well as a metal hot shoe base. I want something a bit more powerful and versatile for portraits. I do not have a studio - so, it would be on-location / traveling. so ease of use and portability matters. I'm leaning toward the ad300pro. But it's hard to ignore the versatility of the ad200pro. 300 has better recycle times, a little more power (but hardly, real world), and the godox mount, which I think would be useful, as I have 2 Glow Parasnap 36 and 44in modifiers that can take that mount. But... the 200.... people just love it. What do you think?
@yanncabello6268
@yanncabello6268 Жыл бұрын
Nice thanks. You should have talked more about this tint issue, because it is a real problem if you work with several flashes; if it can be fixed with a filter, you reduce the power of the flash as much. The AD100 is not as qualitative and versatile as the AD200 which also allows you to work with a bulb, so much better for homogeneity. AD100 vs AD200 ? AD200 rules by far.

if you want to compare number of shots and recycle time than you should measure them both at 100 wps. also the ad100 is more in the range of the v1 or v860II.

I had the AD200 and pretty much ended up hating it. The ergonomics, shape and especially the weight were all, for me, awkward and tiresome. Managed to sell and got the 100 which is not perfect- nothing is- but MUCH more enjoyable and practical to use.

Hi, Russel! Tell me, please, what were the most obvious differences when using the AD100 after the AD200 in terms of light quality and user experience? Does it spread enough compared to a bare bulb? I’m looking forward to shave off a few kilograms off my lighting kit. 🥲
@russellbaston974
@russellbaston974 10 ай бұрын
@@AntonLitvin87 Hi Anton, down on power obviously but much lighter in weight and easier to pack into bags. It does have a very slight green shift which needs about +3 magenta filter if critical matching is required. Bare bulb wise there is a little filter kit AK-R1 which includes a small dome which works ok. There is a bigger AK-R22 diffuser dome which has adapters to fit with a similar spread to the bare bulb but without quite the same contrast as the bare bulb.

It was due to an accidental drop during an outdoor shoot of mine. Although it worked fine for about 6 months after the drop before it conked. They said the two incidents could be related and the repairs cost will not be covered under warranty. Fair enough. It doesn't matter I am happy now. You still need a ad600 to over power the sun using modifiers. The ad100 and ad200 along speedlights fill the niche of fill light at indoor venues or in the shade. It does work its purpose. I prefer using ND Filters when possible instead of using HSS High speed sync. Personally I don't prefer HSS because it does not deliver the same amount of power compared to without HSS. So here in this video I wanted to compare both systems fairly.

I assume the AD100 pro doesn't work with the magmod system. I have the flash kit with the magring

I'm not sure, if it does. However, there is a kit from godox designed for the ad100 pro and V1 Flash

The problem is ad100 only 20% cheaper than ad200, not half price for half the power.

You have a point, however it is half the size and weight of the 200pro I suppose we’re paying for the technology that make us able to get a small powerful portable flash unit

Question to you Oma and all my friends.. don't you get better quality if instead of using ND filters you use high speed sync?

No, because when using HSS, depends on your shutter speed, you lose about 2 to 3 stops of light. So I choose ND filters when possible.

@@OmaGhomrawi You used nd 5 stops. This is more than a loss of 2-3 stops hss.
