Thank you this was a great video!! I wonder if you could answer I have the canon r3 and with the new hot shoe, will this be ok using this flash not worried about the waterproof. Canon does have a adapter some say you need it and some saw you don't!!!!! Hope you can answer Thank you this is the best video on KZbin for this flash.
@Strobepro Жыл бұрын
Hi Debbie, We don't have much hands on experience with Canon's new accessory shoe, but I know there can be some pin alignment issues that will cause your camera to give you an error code. Carefully aligning the pins is less of an issue with a flash trigger like the XPro or X2T. A V1 flash could be more prone to sliding. For that reason, you might want to invest in the adapter even though it adds a bit of height to the setup.

Thank you a lot for getting back to me I just got the little adapter it is very small so that is good going to be trying OCF today I hope it goes good again thank you

Hi Mike. As always great video. I have been roped into shooting two indoor events. Both candid - elementary school with fast moving kids and 50th HS reunion with slow moving seniors. I normally shoot landscapes with no flash with my R6, but have now purchased the Godox v1 just because of these two events. Should I stay with Program mode and E-TTL? Thanks.
@Strobepro2 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, Program mode will function in TTL, but there are a lot of moving parts. If you are comfortable, we'd suggest setting a manual exposure with your shutter at or below your sync speed. You can then adjust your aperture as necessary, and TTL will take care of the rest. ISO can be left in auto if you wish! It's just nice to have control of the aperture at the very least so that you can keep groups of people in focus when you need to.

Thanks for the thorough video! I purchased the Flashpoint equivalent of this, hoping the V1 would talk to my Flashpoint R2 TTL speedlight, but so far I have not been successful. Is that not possible or is that user error? I have checked to make sure both units are on the same channel and I believe I had them in the proper master/slave relationship.

Hi Elisa, Depending on when you bought that R2 speedlite, it could potentially need a firmware update. V1 and V860ii flashes are definitely compatible.

We haven't independently confirmed it yet, but the Z8 should be fully compatible with the V1's latest firmware. Strobepro has sold hundreds of V1N flashes, and I haven't heard any specific complaints about the Z8. We hope that no news is good news!

Have a somewhat dumb question, but don’t think it was covered in the vid. When using Wireless mode, it seems to not work when the camera is set to Auto. Even when I turn wireless on, when I hit the shutter it goes back to regular ETTL. Is this expected behavior, or am I doing something wrong or have a faulty flash?

My question is where is the optical slave master setting?? In the v860 ii there use to be a lightning symbol indicating that it's a optical slave master ... If this has radio slave only then y does it have N optical reviver ? .. if it has optical slave control then where is it ?? Y is it not as easy to find just like the v860ii . ??? Major question is y is the master even firing ah flash in the first place ??? The receiver is not using optical slave when it's in radio mode. So y not just send the signal ?? Y is it firing and wasting my battery ?? ..
@Strobepro Жыл бұрын
The optical master mode available on the V860ii is not available on the V1. Godox seems to be abandoning support for that feature, as it is not on the V860iii either. When in the radio master mode, you can change the mode on your master group to off (indicated by the double lines). If your master group is off, it will not flash, and it is still able to send the signal to any enabled groups. Two possible areas of confusion: 1. On the Canon version of the V1, your master does not get its own separate group indicated by M. Your master is always assigned to group A. So if you want to control the master independently, make sure none of your off-camera flashes are assigned to group A. 2. Even with the master set to off, the test button on the flash will give you a low power flash. The master will not flash when you trigger it through the hotshoe. I hope this information helps!

How durable is the circuitry ? Every other Chinese made speedlite I've had crapped out after about a year or two. you'd notice after a while that you'd only be getting 1/2 or 1/4 power .
@Strobepro6 ай бұрын
Well, we sell the stuff, so you might take this as somewhat biased! But we try our best to be candid. We've carried an assortment of other flash brands throughout our history, and Godox is the brand that has made things easiest on our service department. Not saying nothing ever goes wrong, but we're very happy with Godox's flash lineup overall. Happy enough to back it up with our 2-year in-house warranty. Even beyond that 2-year period, we can almost always replace components quickly and affordably. Flashes that seem to lose horsepower can sometimes benefit from a new flash tube-or-if any fogging is visible, a new front lens. Fogging hasn't been an issue we've noticed with Godox flashes. They seem to have good heat management and well assigned limits. I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out any time.

Hi Great tutorial, At the same time I have a problem that the flash fails to work together with the camera And unfortunately it is not clear to me what the problem is
@cooloox6 ай бұрын
Although this was a great overall tutorial video, you failed to recognise one very important thing. With the Godox V1 and most other Godox flashes - HSS + TTL do not work TOGETHER (they do work individually) on most Canon mirrorless cameras! Selecting HSS + TTL results in the flash annoyingly firing at full power, every shot. Godox has confirmed this is an issue and they haven't been able to overcome it. Oddly, it's fine with the Canon RP (Godox put out a firmware update for compatibility issues) and does not work with the EOS R (Godox did 2 firmware updates to supposedly fix compatibility issues with the R). The R7 has the full power with every shot issue. I'm hoping it's been fixed on the V1 Pro and X3 C trigger.

Great video Jessie! I have an E5 Error on my new V1 flash with a continuous beeping sound and it says please contact the after sales service! I think I maybe messed up a firmware upgrade using G3 but reinstalled the Bin file a few more times anyway but still no luck! is there anyway to fix this like an older update somewhere or do I need to replace it from B&H which is no problem at all? Thanks
@Strobepro3 жыл бұрын
E5 on the V1 is actually a new one for us. It's an uncommon code that's not listed in the manual, but drop us an email at hello@strobepro.com and I'll get back to you on that one. An improper firmware installation should give you an E9 error code. In every case we've seen, the code clears once the firmware is reinstalled properly. The E5 may not be user-fixable, but we'll see what we can find out for you.

Looking at video starting at 16:00 - I see a scale from 0.5 - 18 mm. What is that for?
@Strobepro11 ай бұрын
This is the distance indicator display. In TTL mode, when the flash is mounted on the camera, you will see a black bar appear on this display. The bar indicates the usable range of the flash at your current exposure and flash zoom settings. If your subject is closer than the near measurement, the flash won't be able to avoid overexposure. If your subject is beyond the far measurement, the flash is unable to provide adequate exposure at that distance.
@dianedouglas388611 ай бұрын
@@Strobepro thank you- so to compensate for the distance does one have to move or can flash exposure compensation be used? Thinking of being in tight spaces.
@Strobepro11 ай бұрын
@@dianedouglas3886 You can either move to within the stated range, or change your camera settings. For example, you might be closer than the minimum range at ISO 6400, but within the acceptable range once you drop to ISO 3200. For everyday kinds of shooting, this will rarely be something you have to think about. If you are not extremely close or extremely far from your subject, the range of power on these flashes can almost always find a proper TTL exposure.

Great video. Could I connect it to the XT16 trigger? and how please?
@Strobepro2 жыл бұрын
Hi Melanie, As long as you have the 2.4GHz version of the XT16 then it will work. You'll just need to look in the manual for the DIP switch diagram in order to set a channel. To put it on channel 1, set all switches to the down position. Once you've set your channel, move the selector to the group you assigned your V1 to, and you'll be able to control it in manual mode.
