Question: does the newer version Godox transmitter (X2T) hot shoe have TTL pass-thru for a flash (using same manufacturer/brand flash as camera) when mounted on the X2T which is then placed directly on top of the camera, or does it have to me used in manual mode like the older X1T? The Cactus V6 II has this pass-thru function and I was wondering if the Godox does as well........thanking you in advance.

Hi bhamda99. Sorry for missing your question there. Currently the Canon and Nikon versions of the controller support pass-through communication. Ensure that your flash is set to TTL mode when it is installed on the controller. Once connected, you can control your top mounted flash using the M group which will appear on the X2T-N, or the A group on the X2T-C.

Not on Sony version. Some X2tcs are not 100% TTL because they are not paralleled wired. Remember for under $65, it's much better than buying overpriced Profoto, Pocket Wizard and Quantum Instruments.

It's a shame that the whole screen can't be dedicated to one group. Like if you are only using group A, the whole screen could show the power setting much larger like the XPRO models. Much easier to read if you need glasses etc.

Absolutely the best tutorial for using the Godox X2T trigger!!! I recently upgraded from the X1 to the X2T and I am very pleased with this upgrade, except for the abysmal user guide provided. (similar to Good user guides for its flashes...useless and unintelligible) Fortunately for us, Jessie came to the rescue and showed all the ins and outs of this handy and inexpensive device. I have the iPhone 13, unfortunately, the new app version doesn't have all the features the older version had.

Good video. On thing I will mention. ID does not "add channels". It adds a code to the transmitted signal, which is decoded in the receivers, and, when enabled on RX and TX, flash requires it in the received signal in order to fire. This is to eliminate firing from other transmitters' spurious signals, or, worse, other transmitters on the same channel. It has been around as "PL" (personal line) in VHF/UHF communications for decades.

Wow what a great video! I am a complete newb at modern off camera flash and just bought the Godox tt685c and the X2T Controller to go with my Canon T7i camera I bought a few years ago. A little overkill for a newb but wanted something I could grow into. This is by far the most comprehensive tutorial on this flash that I have seen online so far. Everyone else just blasts through their videos to either just get it done and posted or they are geared for people that already know how to do this. I was literally doing off camera flash within minutes as I followed along with your video. Unfortunately my old Galaxy S5 is not supported by the app but I have a ton to learn before I get another phone. Thank you very much!

You know what would've been great? Showing how to connect this to the flash, because despite being on the correct channel and no ID set.. it doesn't talk to any of them.

Hi Aaron, There are too many strobes to show in one video, but I believe we have a video for every flash in Godox's current lineup as well if you want to see pairing instructions for your specific model. Here are a few troubleshooting suggestions: 1. Ensure that the flash also has no ID enabled. 2. Ensure that you are in the correct receiver mode, with radio enabled. Some of Godox's speedlites have optical communication options that will still display a channel and group. 3. Make sure the flash group is active on the controller-ie., if the flash is set to group B, ensure that group B has a power setting selected on the controller. Two dashed lines indicates that the group is disabled. 4. If activating your camera's shutter does not trigger your flash, try hitting the test button on the controller to see if it's a communication issue or a camera issue. Things like silent mode or an electronic shutter can disable your flashes. You can also feel free to give us a call if you need further assistance!

Hello, thanks for the great in depth instructions! One question; I'm going to photography a model train setup and I'd like to show motion. Will this controller fire several Godox TT685C's in Rear Curtain / Second Curtain Sync? I gather they all need to be in the same group.

Hi Jan, You can have them in different groups as long as they are all on the same channel. If you are using a Canon body, rear curtain sync can be set on the controller or within the camera menu (cross-communication is enabled). However, we have noticed compatibility issues with some Canon cameras if you intend to use bulb mode.

Hi Don, If you're looking to trigger another camera at the same time, you may encounter slight sync issues, but the X2T can definitely fire your remote when you have the PC setting set to "Out."

Hi. I am using the Sony A7III camera with X2T-S trigger and Godox v680ii speedlight. I am only able to see M and ON (Multi) as the modes. TTL mode is not displayed on the trigger even if it's selected on the flash. Kindly help.

It works with Godox lights only--sorry. You could purchase an X1R-C or X1R-N receiver to plug into the sync port of your light. That would allow the Godox controller to trigger (but not control) your Broncolor light. You might also consider using a Broncolor controller for Canon or Nikon on your camera since the centre-pin will still line up for simple triggering. In either case, you will miss out on some advanced features like HSS (if your light supports that).

The problem I am having I wanted to set up the second X2T and use it as a Wireless Shutter Release trigger, as stated in the manual on page 41. Hi Jochen, You will actually require the controller to be on your camera. The app is pushing the settings to your controller, which is responsible for triggering your lights. Hope that makes sense! Here's a bit of a long side note that you never asked for, but I think it's useful to know: There is an "APP" mode under the "SHOOT" function in your controller's menu. Counterintuitively, you will generally not want to have this enabled when using the app. The "APP" mode turns your controller into a dummy trigger that will trigger everything on the channel without updating power settings. It is useful whenever you need to run more than one trigger (say a 2nd trigger on a secondary camera body) since Bluetooth can only pair with one device at a time. Your primary trigger will still need to be paired with the app and outside of "APP" mode in order to send power settings to your lights.

if you shot on TTL and then switched to manual... will the trigger preserve the existing power settings from TTL or will you have to manually enter the power? The reason I ask is that this feature is available in the Xpro

I'm wondering this too.I've looked around, and it looks like people are saying the X2t doesn't have TCM, (even though the specs say it does- weird!) Almost certain there's no dedicated TCM button as with the XPro. Don't take my word as final though.
