You can't see me, not right now Go and be that light with someone you know how I'll try to be here for a while But like a candle burns bright, it still burns out Hey, I'm coming home And for how long I don't know Will you sit with me for a while Do you hear me when I tell you that I've tried I've tried to be there your whole life To provide for you and I'd die for you with pride Hey, when I get back home I'll never let you go-oh-oh I'll be the sun Where I get to go And your days are young But man I'm growing old Hey, I'll be your sun Where I get to go And your days are young But man I'm growing old Hey, I'll be your sun Where I get to go Your days are young But man I'm growing old Hey, I'll be your sun When I get to go home Your days are young But man I'm growing old

As a 52 yr man who lost his dad at the age of four, growing up with a less than ideal step dad & a dysfunctional family structure & some abuse... Let me just say this, growing up as I did lead to drinking, some drugs, severe anger, all the wrong women blah blah blah... Stepping back & seriously looking at my life as my son was born I made him a promise. I told him... Son I promise to be the best dad I can be. I never broke that promise not once. The hardest part was thinking back to what I needed as a child at that age. I had to be mentally strong even tho I was not. Long story short is this... I've always longed & needed to hear the words from a male role model that I respected " you did good" " I am proud of you" " I love you son" I know I will never hear those words in my lifetime. But my son hears them every chance I get to tell him. He doesn't realize yet why I do it as often as I do. One day he will😎 Anyways, this song hits me hard..!!! Thank you Sully..!!!
@BensRide3 ай бұрын
If you are a good father then your kids will say those words that you long to hear. I met my father for the first time after I got out of the military. He's a drunk and a liar. I wasted my life wishing for that turd to be the man I needed. My grandfather on my mom's side was the best dad/ strong male role model anyone could ask for but it was never enough to fill the void of not having a father. Now I'm a father and I'm not the best dad or person but my son says I am to him and that fills the void for me.
