Just as a Godzilla nerd here, the reason the whole "Bones of Godzilla" thing were used were because they were using a DNA computer. Basically the computer would use the DNA in the bones to compute things like balance and basic movements, so the pilots could just focus on the fight.

Fun Fact! Godzilla technically has a black belt in judo. Haruo Nakajima, born January 1’st 1929 and passing away in August 7’th 2017, was the man inside of the original Godzilla suit for a ton of the old movies, basically building Godzilla up to what his current personality is. He played the big man for 12 entire movies in a row. Godzilla used to use a lot of hip tosses and various techniques similar to Judo while in fights because Nakajima himself was a black belt in the art. This guy is my hero.

- Fact: Power Rangers has one of the worst records in Death Battle. -"There's a bad Power Ranger"? There been quite a few in the franchise actually - Tommy most certainly is a fan favourite. He's been the most recurring character in the franchise and has been a total of 5 different Rangers. He's even reappeared in the newer seasons - Mechagodzilla actually reappeared recently in Kong vs Godzilla

It's time for TRIVIA TIME for one of my all time favourite Death Battles 1) The connections between the Dragonzord and Mechagodzilla are that they are both dragon mechs with human pilots (Tommy Oliver and Akane Yashiro, respectively) and were created in order to take down and destroy giant hostile monsters. Furthermore, both have a history of going berserk or becoming hostile (The Dragonzord had at one point been controlled by Tommy's evil duplicate, and the original spirit of Godzilla can possess Kiryu). 2) This episode was released on KZbin on Jason David Frank's birthday, the actor known for playing Tommy Oliver. 3) This is the 4th 2 on 2 battle, after Solid Snake VS Sam Fisher, Pokémon VS Digimon, and Ratchet & Clank VS Jak & Daxter. 4) This is the 4th episode to feature giant robots, after Tigerzord VS Gundam Epyon, Power Rangers VS Voltron, and Optimus Prime VS Gundam. 5) This is the 1st episode to feature proper voice acting (as opposed to sound clips) in a language other than English (specifically, Akane speaks Japanese in the fight), with the next ones being Red VS Blue and Heihachi Mishima VS Geese Howard. 6) This is the 2nd time both combatants were seen sparring with each other the minute the battle simulation started, after Weiss VS Mitsuru, with the next one being Miles Morales VS Static. 7) Boomstick's Poultry Science degree, which was brought up in Darth Vader VS Doctor Doom, Ken VS Terry, and Samurai Jack VS Afro Samurai, is mentioned in this episode during Dragonzord's rundown. 7a) In addition, Wiz and Boomstick's argument over the singular and plural terms of goose during Mechagodzilla's rundown is done in a similar fashion to Ken VS Terry. 8) According to the Death Battle Cast for this episode, Ben was originally going to choose one of the other two Mechagodzillas to be Dragonzord's opponent, but since the original (Showa) Mechagodzilla is too strong for Godzilla, and Super Mechagodzilla killed Godzilla, Ben decided to stick with Kiryu so that the Dragonzord has more of a fighting chance than it would against the other two. 9) In Mechagodzilla's rundown, Dual is misspelled as "Duel" in the "Akane" section. 10) When Mechagodzilla jumps over the Dragonzord's second-to-last attack, the camera angle and its pose are more than a passing resemblance to the poster art of Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla. 11) In Mechagodzilla's rundown, Destoroyah is misspelled as "Desotroyah" in the feats section. 12) Mechagodzilla's introduction is almost the exact same as the into for the original Godzilla. 13) This is the fifth episode in which a character speaks in a different language (Japanese), after Chun-Li VS Mai Shiranui, Ragna VS Sol Badguy, Chuck Norris VS Segata Sanshiro, and Jotaro VS Kenshiro, with the next two being Red VS Blue and Heihachi Mishima VS Geese Howard. 14) This is the 4th episode that was originally a Community Death Battle after Black Panther VS Batman, Ultron VS Sigma, and Johnny Cage VS Captain Falcon, and with the next 19 being Deadpool VS Mask, All Might VS Might Guy, Goro VS Machamp, Obi-Wan Kenobi VS Kakashi, Danny Phantom VS American Dragon Jake Long, She-Ra VS Wonder Woman, Zuko VS Shoto Todoroki, Winter Soldier VS Red Hood, Sanji VS Rock Lee, Iron Fist VS Po, Steven Universe VS Star Butterfly, Macho Man VS Kool-Aid Man, DIO VS Alucard, Korra VS Storm, Madara VS Aizen, Saitama VS Popeye, Galactus VS Unicron, Mickey VS Bugs, and Wiz VS Boomstick. The track features guitar riffs reminiscent of the classic Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers theme and the Green Ranger's theme from the aforementioned series. The track's title is in reference to the fact that both combatants are mechanical robots designed for combat, with both taking the form of reptiles and classical depictions of dragons. The image cover shows the Dragonzord Power Coin emblem frozen with a crack forming through, presumably in reference to Mechagodzilla's Absolute Zero Cannon, while Mechagodzilla's shoulder cannons emerge from behind, emanating a cold aura that envelops them and the Power Coin.

The real shame is that this is Tommy Oliver's second loss in DB. His first loss was in the White Tiger Zord against Gundam Epyon. It's sad because Tommy is actually really cool and often referred to in universe as the greatest ranger ever. Fact Fiend did a dive into his Ranger Wiki page to prove it.

Well, since you literally asked, _Power Rangers_ is actually a show edited together with footage from a Japanese show known as the _"Super Sentai"_ series. While the American edits certainly differ from the Japanese series, the overall premise is 5 or 6 individuals are chosen to fight against the forces of evil via harnessing the power from certain aspects of the universe (the "Morphing Grid", as it's called in the American version). The reason the American version(s) is so campy is because the _Super Sentai_ series is about as ridiculous and they think kids wouldn't care because it's technically a superhero show.

This is by far my favourite death battle. Godzilla against mechagodzilla is my all time favourite movie, so watching kiryu in death battle and win was an absolute treat. The absolute zero cannon is an absolutely insane weapon, so I was definitely pretty confident in my boy winning. Not to mention, dragonzord wasn't just fighting mechagodzilla, he was fighting the king of the monsters, Godzilla.

The crazy thing is that this isn't even really a ghost Godzilla. Because there's another version of Godzilla (as in alternate universe version) that's literally made of the ghosts of soldiers that died in WW2 that also wants to destroy Japan. Plus there's an entirely different Kaiju altogether called Space Godzilla that came to Earth and fought the regular Godzilla. It has massive diamond looking growths coming out of it's body. Then there's an alternate universe version of Godzilla that's supposedly more like a plant than a reptile, and it's from a series of multiple anime movies.

You said it in the last Death Battle involving Godzilla, "Don't doubt Godzilla." To be fair though this is Mechagodzilla (Kiryu to be more specific). Though Godzilla's spirit did take over...any who...I'm glad you finally reacted to this one *Duck,* it was the last one I truly cared about that they did (and yes that includes the one involving Broly believe it or not). There were still others that I liked later on, but not as much as this one. Also since you asked, Hiei is from an anime series called Yu Yu Hakusho and Sasuke is from the anime series Naruto/Naruto Shippuden/Boruto.

0:15 ok for the newbies Godzilla didn't turned into a robot Mechagodzilla was created by either aliens or humans depending on the story/era/continuity. Since their using kiryu aka Mechagodzilla 3 I'll tell you his backstory put a long story short this Mechagodzilla was created from the bones of the 1954 Godzilla to fight the second Godzilla that was attacking Japan by that point. Also the bones of the 1st Godzilla comes to life and Mechagodzilla goes on a rampage. 0:35 wrong it's Gamera. Gamora is a ultraman monster. 2:54 Tommy is brainwash by that point. 8:29 that's is Mothra cocoon. The butterfly is Mothra. 8:34 no pacific rim was inspired by Godzilla, ultraman, super sentai basically tokusatsu in general. 8:41 to show you how powerful these kaiju are. It's been a thing since it's inception back in 1954. 8:47 you weren't paying attention were you all the notes are destroyed and Dr serizawa died to kill Godzilla. The Japanese defense force can't make another oxygen destroyer. 9:53 just to clarify no they haven't. They hurt gaira the green gargantua you see on screen but never killed him. Him and his brother sanda the brown gargantua both died by a volcan eruption while fighting each other. And it most certainly didn't kill Mothra

I don’t know if it’ll ever come up but not only is power rangers originally from Japan and called Super Sentai, there’s also series that’s a bit more popular series called Kamen Rider and Oh man it is fun. Unfortunately it only got one English adaption that…wasn’t too well receipted, called Masked Rider Dragon Knight, Kamen Rider Ryuki if you’re curious. Kamen Rider is a really fun series and I recommend checking it out.

Funny thing regarding Ghost Godzilla. The Godzilla movies are separated by different eras, and for the finale of the second era, dubbed the Heisei era (1984-1995), Japanese film company Toho considered Godzilla vs. Godzilla, or Godzilla vs. Ghost Godzilla, where the current King of the Monsters would battle the restless spirit of the 1954 Godzilla. However, Toho backed off on the idea since the last two movies had Godzilla fight against doppelgängers of him (Mechagodzilla 2 and SpaceGodzilla), and they didn’t want the films to suffer from repetition because of it. Mechagodzilla 3/Kiryu’s debut film Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla does pay some tribute to this lost film, as during the opening title, it originally reads as Godzilla X Godzilla, before adding the “Mecha” in the ladder’s name.

Next is Ganondorf Vs. Dracula, which you'll probably skip since Ganondorf is the main villain of Legend of Zelda, and I know you want to avoid spoilers for those games. Finally, there's Mob Vs. 5:23 in the original japanese source, the Thunder Megazord and Dragonzord are from completly different Super Sentai shows, but in Power Rangers is pretty much on the same universe. You can even see the footage of the fight just been repeated footage of the Super Sentai where the Dragonzord comes from.

Tommy, aka Jason David Frank, is pretty much everyone's favorite by default. He's been a ranger in 6 different seasons of the show, far more than any other character, plus he made at 3 cameos in the big, series wide cross overs one of them being only a few years ago. The runner up, Adam, played by Johnny Yong Bosch, was only in four seasons and one big cross-over, and is honestly more popular for his anime dubbing after Power Rangers. I mean, Pacific Rim is heavily based on old kaiju movies like Godzilla.

Death Battle called this version of Mechagodzilla the “deadliest” almost entirely just because of Absolute Zero, which is just as much of a liability for Kiryu as it is an asset. It takes ages to charge up, drains a ton of power, and if the shot misses, Kiryu’s basically screwed. Meanwhile, the two incarnations before Kiryu, from the 70’s and 90’s versions respectively, were MUCH stronger, able to bring their respective Godzilla incarnations down with relative ease. The 90’s version, Super Mechagodzilla, was so powerful, it managed to very nearly kill the single most powerful version of Godzilla ever put to film. So yeah, they chose one of the weakest incarnations of Mechagodzilla, and Dragonzord still lost. Crazy.

So, coming back to this and seeing the project is done for the most part... I highly recommend watching Linkara's History of Power Rangers series that he created that covers every season, especially if you want to learn more about Power Ranger lore; and I'd say its worth it, considering the series has avoided cancellation twice; two of those time being when Disney owned the rights. It's worth a watch, though they are some VERY long videos, but then again, when you have something that covers 30 years of storytelling, it's a hell of a ride.

The Green Ranger left an impression back in the day. Back when Power Rangers first came out, it aired after school Monday-Friday. The Green Ranger saga (Green With Evil), which saw his introduction and eventual joining the heroes, lasted an entire week. The series had never even had a two-parter before, and suddenly they were throwing out a five-parter about the show's first ever evil ranger. It was an iconic TV moment for 90's kids

You know what'd be a fun series for you to react to is the Pokémon animations they've put out in recent years. First there was the Pokémon Origins series, which is four episodes and based on the original game. Then there's Pokémon Generations, which tells short stories from the first 6 gens (it was done in the runup to the 7th gen). And now currently airing is Pokémon Evolutions, which is also different short stories from the at present 8 generations. It'll be interesting to see your take on it and what you think the bigger stories are. Though a lot of people dislike the Generations episode The Cavern because it um...yeah, the end of that episode legit doesn't happen in the actual game. At all. Still though it'd be interesting to see your reaction!

Even after becoming an adult, he was still a badass and only became even more of a badass and has the best morpher in Power Rangers history (which consists of 21 different themed series, 28 seasons and counting; from 1993-2021 onwards). Whenever the series needs a nostalgia boost for ratings, the show just speed dials Jason David Frank (the actor/martial artist) and ask him to come back to play Tommy again.

Basically a cyborg space dragon hopped up on a radioactive mutagen. 7:21 A cash grab made by Saban Entertainment in the 90s where they would rip and redub the fighting sequences from a long running Japanese series, Super Sentai (specifically Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger). So all the footage when the Rangers are in their suits is all footage from an entirely different series, not even taking into account the different context, like how every fight suddenly takes place in Japan or how the Yellow Ranger suddenly becomes a dude. Instead of 5 ancient tribespeople and their robotic dino Guardian Beasts awakwning from suspended animation to battle their longtime nemesis Bandora, it's 5 Teenagers With Attitude(tm) being granted powers by a wizard in a tube to fight off evil. "It's basically Pacific Rim." Only in the sense that humanity built a robot to battle Kaiju threats. Mechagodzilla itself is not piloted by humans (and shounen anime bullshit) like a mech suit. Whether or not it's remotely controlled by humans, autonomous, or possessed by the spirit of another Kaiju depends on the model and writer. All other times, humanity is almost completely ineffectual against Kaiju, usually just assisting more benevolent ones like Mothra or Gamera (or occasionally Godzilla himself) at best. Gotta keep that allegory for the threat of nuclear war alive somehow, I guess.

You should've learnt from the previous Godzilla battle, always bet on Big G to come out on top, even the robot one. Also you keep saying this is like Pacific Rim but it's the other way round. The first Mecha-G fought Godzilla back in 1974 because by that point the only monster that could take on the big daddy monster was a robotic twin. Then he came back for round two in Revenge of MechaGodzilla the next year and that movie was the last of the original Godzilla series. So kaiju fighting robots, especially doppelgangers has been a thing for a while.

Strangely enough while this is a west versus east matchup 90% or so of the fighting footage in Power Rangers comes from Japanese shows. In this case the Dragonzord uses footage of the Guardian Beast Dragon Caesar from Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger and was controlled by the other Yamato Tribe Prince, Burai who has a grudge against his brother.

I watched the ORIGINAL Godzilla movie earlier this year. Combine a migraine, with a seizure, with completely unbearable acting and bad effects. It was literally like revisiting Power Rangers as an adult. Which is ALSO painful. Good memories, REALLY bad revisit. Amusingly bad but bad nonetheless. So this fight gave me a solid reminder. Fiction has failed us on a few occasions. XD

You are correct. Sasuke is from Naruto and the main rival/technically best friend to Naruto himself. Hiei is from MY FAVORITE ANIME OF ALL TIME YU YU HAKUSHO. (Yu Yu Hakusho literally translates to Poltergeist Report) While I'd love to see you react to it, as it's only 4 seasons long, I don't expect you to so I can tell you a bit of the story. It follows a 14yo boy by the name of Yusuke Urameshi who becomes what is known as a spirt detective. Hunting down and solving crimes related to demons who haunt the living. Hiei is one such demon criminal Yusuke tracked down and defeated. After being beaten in a fight, Hiei grew an immense respect for Yusuke and the two became fast rivals and friends. While I love both of these Characters, Sasuke is but a pale imitation of Hiei. Naruto Creator, Masashi Kishimoto even stated he based Sasuke off of Hiei. Sorry for rambling but you make it easy since you don't know any pop culture.

i agree with this. yes the battery life is important but he DOES have 2 hours to before it runs out. his weapons were meant to hurt godzilla, so really he can just keep shooting for 2 hours until dragonzord explodes. cowardly, I know, but effective. (still love the power rangers though)
