Personally, I would bet on a new kaiju or SpaceGodzilla AND Bathra. The more I watch the Monsterverse movies, the more I see the possibility of bringing back some kaiju. Destoroyah with the oxygen destroyer and absorption to evolve, SpaceGodzilla with the crystal cave making Kong's axe react with Kong's bones nearby without forgetting the mural representing a flying Gojira attacking Kongs and that Godzilla may not be the only Gojira to have evolved, Biollante via Amhuluk and Tiamat which does not decompose, potentially a mixture of DNA, or even MechaGhidorah that I would love to see to conclude the Monsterverse, where Ghidorah would be partly mentally controlled by Alain Jonas after many experiments and where MechaGhidorah would be so powerful that the only way for the protective titans to win is to make Ghidorah regain control, showing that it is not a titan wishing only destruction (especially since I have a theory that is close to my heart about Ghidorah and an event like this would make it even more credible). There’s technically a set up for both Destroyah and SpaceGodzilla for the mv, both conveniently being in KOTM 19’ one being the oxygen destroyer and the other being when Ghidorah flew up with goji into the atmosphere, could easily explain his scales being torn off from battle and making it into space and eventually creating a “SpaceGodzilla.” But yes I do agree with you I’ve been wanting Bagan to be utilized properly and would be a choice I’ve had for a while to be a big bad for the Monsterverse although if they ever make a gemstone theatrical movie I’d think he’d make a great big bad for that universe as well.

Destroyah is Bagan replacement. Bagan was a clone of Godzilla and king Ghidorah, but legendary monsterverse Destroyah might be more like Bagan which will make him more legitimate than heisei Destroyah. Because of.2019 oxygen destroyer scene it seems like Destroyah might have all 3 DNA 🧬 Godzilla, king Ghidorah, and a crustacean 🦞.

I remember the winged Godzillas in the concept art, I think that was supposed to be a depiction of The Godzilla species symbiosis with mothras and doing those pulse things since that's what happened with Burning Godzilla in KOTM. As for the wicked line in the novelization I also figured that was a big signifier of spacegodzilla, but then again the iwi might not have had the best view of Godzilla at the time if he was going berserk, he did play the role of antagonist in GVK after all.

5:29 Actually Shimo isn't that ancient. The novel puts her at 3 million years old. Even not taking the novel into account wingard has said her personality was not as developed as other kaiju being younger by kaiju standard allowing for Skar king to more easily take advantage of her. Shimo isn't as ancient as fans think nowhere in the movie saids she's extremely old that's all fans or stuff outside what is actually said. A leak was talking about a man made Hybrid Titan as the villain, who also KILLS Godzilla. Now that actually sounds like Bagan. I don’t think they’ll kill him but Bagan would make one heck of a villain. He would be the biggest threat the MV has ever faced. But Mecha King Ghidorah is the most likely pick if you ask me.

Genuinely hoping for Hedorah as the next big bad. She's the showa equivalent of Destoroyah and could even be a "prototype" of him, with both being born from the Oxygen Destroyer. Hedorah from the 2019 one and the subsequent pollution around the area, with then a second Oxygen Destroyer being made after studying a sample of Hedorah that leads to Destoroyah. Also while an argument could be made that Destoroyah wouldn't hold the same weight as he did in the Heisei era i do feel like he's the most likely toho monster to join due to the popularity that he has been recently getting, an edgy design that can be easily sold as a toy and lastly how, even if they don't do the whole Hedorah thing i said earlier, the Oxygen Destroyer is right there. Other monsters such as Gigan would require them being explained in the same movie they appear while others such as Bagan are too obscure. With Destoroyah you already have his origins set up since KOTM, you just need to mention it again without too much trouble

I think Hedorah would be a better fit if you wrote her to being a monster made from the fault of humanity and Godzilla. Make Hedorah another pollution monster but write it in a way where KG is tied like when KG died its cells were dispersed into the atmosphere and combined with the pollution created by man and it created the Smog Monster this way you could also tie in Hedorahs beam attack in KG's cells but also don't make Hedorah fight on sight with Godzilla and have her target waste sites to get stronger so Godzilla doesn't see it as a threat or even is aware of its existence

I once had the idea of Bagan being one of the _oldest_ Titans, a Guardian that was supposed to awaken and be the "true king" of the planet. basically everything Godzilla currently is, Bagan was supposed to be. However, due to constant war, pollution, and overall harm and negativity to the planet, it corrupted him and turned him into one of the most evil beings in the entire universe as even though functionally he's trying to make a clean slate of the planet because it got so screwed over, there is undeniable evil actions he takes.

The oxygen destroyer bomb in the MV is way different from the original iteration. Though I would like to see some kind of relation to a Destoroyah in the MV. Possible mutation in Ghidorah and Godzilla DNA in the blast? After all they were fighting when the blast went off, possibly their blood mixes in the water, bomb goes off causing mass mutation in both DNA and it gets ingested by local crustaceans whilst still actively mutating. That causes the Ghidorah regenerating, mutating DNA to “take over” the crustaceans. This explains their hive mind, their hatred for Godzilla (genetic memories if you will) and their rapid mutation and adaptation into the eventual final form of Destoroyah… though I’m pretty sure this’ll never happen.

It's more likely for legendary to make their own rather then be reliant on toho. KOTM's failures were...a long list of things. Chief among them was writing, and also timing. People forget how looked down on by the casual audiences Godzilla was back then. The classic monsters is one of the few highlights. But as of over three years ago, the greenlight was given, translation from a comment made by KDM on , credible source within movie journalism, which is a rarity, from over three years back, on top of how deals like this often take months, to years to reach us. They had back up for Mothra yes, because that was being made when the movie was being filmed, and talks were ongoing. They plan things out years in advance, so when deals are made, they do have to act fact and stuff it still left in because going back and changing everything's not always possible. Meaning talks were ongoing after KOTM and into GvK. The plan was always to use Mothra, but they needed to be certain they had the rights to her, which the deal being over three years old, puts it right after GvK release. That why I said after KOTM. In the end, it all comes down to money, and GvK is what made Toho likely see it was a worthwhile investment not to make Legendary not need shell out for the classic monsters

I have such a huge pet peeve with introducing new monsters (especially ones that copy older toho kaiju designs) in the monsterverse like seriously I think it’s bad writing in any adaptation, by introducing new characters you’re limiting yourself by not giving legacy characters a chance to shine in the worldwide big screen and possibly becoming even more popular than ever since most studios are too scared to pay a DIME for anything cuz there greedy as crap, GxK would’ve been so much better if had toho monsters instead of Hollywood syndrome 2.0, I hope the next movie has less original monsters and more classic toho monsters and even obscure monsters from other Kong related material like from the books and games.

That is a bit overly simplistic way to look at fights, needing a stronger opponent to be a challenge. A faster fighter vs a stronger fighter, the faster fighter has the edge because for all the other's strength, if they cant land a hit its meaningless. We've seen them do this exact thing in the MV itself, the Mutos. And through the Godzilla series as a whole. Fights aren't just i can hit more powerfully, its power, intelligence, speed and problem solving and exploiting weaknesses.

I just hope they remove Adam Wingard from director sooner rather than later. He's basically turned the monsterverse into the Transformers films. Shimo was hysterically awful. Not only was Shimo the least intimidating looking monster I've ever seen in any monster movie, but the CGI was absolutely atrocious.

The thing is, love it or hate it, Wingard saved the MV. I have my issues with the movies, but this is a bit short sighted. KOTM was a failure, while GvK and GxK have made the movies both profitable, and wide appealing. Which leads to more Godzilla movies being made at all. I also disagree on the CGI looking bad, it looks much like the KOTM and is jut more refined and detailed.

I don’t know how much Legendary is willing to shell out on this franchise. If they get some kind of contract with Toho saying they can use any Toho monster for the duration of the Monsterverse for a one time fee. Toho charges the same for all of their monsters, so Legendary would pay just as much for Varan as they would for Godzilla himself. I personally like the idea of homegrown monsters. The Toho ones have had their limelight. Let Legendary create new classics.

This franchise died in the new empire. The deaf guide for Kong is a joke. New empire felt like a planet of the apes movie. No plausible explanation as to why mothra is in hollow earth,Her egg was on a beach in KOTM.. it's way to corny now.Kongs dentist,Godzilla sleeping in cities, movies are way to focused on humans,again the deaf kid is a joke.This buddy system they made with Kong and Godzilla is a joke. Godzilla killed him,stepped on his chest, giving him a heart attack. Bring in Destroyah,kill Kong ASAP,then Godzilla dies killing Destoyah and lets end this farse of of a franchise. Go Woke,You go Broke!! Just ask Marvel and Kamala. We don't want wokezilla,we want Godzilla!! Kill the deaf kid,kill kong,kill the human /titan buddy system.

Man I didn't like the movie that much either but It was hardly a franchise killer.

Exactly, it was actually the best preforming movie of the monsterverse.
