One gameplay error in the session portion to call attention to... Matthew Berends pointed out that the Airdrop card allows you to move your tank next to "any friendly tank", not "any tank" as I played it in this playthrough. Played correctly, the card is much less overpowered than the way I played. it. :)

That could make for some great combos! How many times were you one hex away from there you needed to be? Bam, the deed is done!

That was fun. Pretty straightforward to follow, but still varied enough to be different each time you play.

I came to mention the "Friendly" part of Airdrop as well. This game looks fast and fun, and definitely not a brain-burner (and the Vikings are DEFINITELY doing better than my Packers this year)!
@ZillaBlitz2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The funny part of it was as I was playing, I was thinking, "The game feels really balanced ... except for the Airdrop card, which feels like a massive game changer." :) Now all is clear. Vikings had a rough day yesterday, for sure. I think we're not as good as our record indicates, but on the whole I like the direction they are heading in. Packers, yeah, having an unusually off year. Still some time to fix it and make the playoffs, but as Yogi Berra would say: "It's getting late early." Thanks for stopping in!

The "DROP A TANK BEHIND ENEMY LINES" CARD is an unhistorical one... Since the depicted tanks were too much heavy to be lifted up and then dropped behind enemy lines via planes !!! Only the british had, in WW II, a cargo glider able to deliver tanks where they wanted to... But such tanks where small, fast moving and lighter tanks compared to Pershings and Tiger tanks!!! I think that instead of it they should do, or have done, a card like the "Blitzkrieg" ones and the "Blitzkrieg" token that we saw in the game "Heroes of Normandie"... Which, once you add it to your army list, you can play (as a german) it whenever you want to, by simply setting aside a heavy tank, a medium vehicule such as halftracks and a light one (like the iconic Zundapps motorbikes with sidecars or the Kettenkraders we see in so many war movies and documentaries). After having set them aside this way, and during the game, you can spend such blitzkrieg token in order to call this mix of 3 vehicules onto the board, making them enter the fray from the side you want to, and not only from your starting one!!! That could have more sense, here, in the game you have just shown in your video playthrough. By the way, let me read what you think about it... If I had already this game in my collection, I think that I would surely "house rule" that card or even substitute it with something similar to what I just said... Just to add a little bit of historical realism. At least I would not play and allow to play a "drop a Tiger / Pershing tank behind the enemy" card, since it is too much "cartoonish and not historically realistic"... Ps: only after the Vietnam war, the cargo planes became able to lift up and successively drop off their bellies, heavy tanks... But it is not done so frequently... I suppose... Only in the A-Team movie with Liam Neeson, we see a very cool and funny scene where a heavy tank is paradropped !!! (And I suggest you to go and see or search for that funny scene online cause it deserves it!!!)

I played that card incorrectly. The card states you can move next to a “friendly” tank, but I missed the “friendly” wording.

This game looks very 'cute' not a downpoint though. I like cute sometimes. The terrain, the tanks counters, the armour icons, the card concepts, I can see a person hand making a version of this game if they are a craft oriented person. I can picture using my Squad Leader components to have some laughs here. The design looks quite fun.

@@ZillaBlitz Obviously, this is just the early version, and I love to pimp my games. I could see using some foam core to make inserts that you would place the mapboards in, to hold them in place. I'm thinking they are going for a low price point, and I'm on board with that. I like to get the printNplay games and go nuts pimping them to high quality, if they are good enough to justify it.

17:30 could the artillery support have targeted the empty forest hex between the two Panzer IVs to knock off an armor token from each?
@ZillaBlitz2 жыл бұрын
Only the central hex removes a full armor token. The surrounding hexes just get one flame token, the lesser hit. :)
@dustov2 жыл бұрын
in that case do your own tanks take firetokens if nearby or is friendly fire not a thing ?
@ZillaBlitz2 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. The rules say "any tank" next to the central hex, so based on a literal reading of that, it would appear that you can make a case for friendly fire. :)

I just finished playing The Hunters. I once again scored over 200,000 tons of shipping and four capital ships including 2 carriers, 1 light cruiser and 1 battleship. Earned all the Knights Cross awards and decided not to continue into The Hunted. I got stuck in the Mediterranean Sea and kept rolling capital ship as an encounter. Interesting game but I am still not interested in it but I do hope others are. Like to see new companies pop up and get some love.

@@ZillaBlitz It does seem like a sneaky way to get someone into gaming. I think a good way is Euro style board games. I am not sure why but it seems like I have the luck of all luck in The Hunters/The Hunted. I will say it was boring being stuck in the Mediterranean Sea but it was fun sending four capital ships to the bottom. I encountered the Malaya twice and both times I was one hit away from sinking her. Was hoping id encounter her for a third time and finish the job hah.

That's a great campaign, for sure. When I shot the series for the channel, I was hoping we didn't get sent to the Mediterranean, as it seemed pretty limiting in terms of patrols, at least compared to the variety of the main areas.

I dissent a bit about what you said about serious wargamers... That could not find the game funny or worthy to play... I mean... I repute myself to be a "serious wargamer" too (even if a rookie one, maybe) and I find this game very cool indeed... Obviously, it has not the historical accuracy and depth of the games like Heroes System ones or those played by our wargamer friend Masini (from the WLOG youtube chamnel), but nonetheless, it is in my opinion, very worthy to be played and have in the collection of titles !!! It is also working fine as an introductory title or a "filler title" once you have the chance to play in a ludoteque or gaming club!!! It breaks the dead times from a nore "serious game" and the next one or you can play it while you wait for your pizza or mac sandwiches to arrive, and you think to have too few minutes to play another "high caliber game", but so much time to setup and play a "filler game"!!! I did that so many time !!!

Yes, I agree.

Rarely are there good "simulations" that are also good games. By that I mean that when playing a "simulation" correctly there is little scope for changing the historical outcome. Most of the more complex D-Day and Barbarossa sims for example. I really like sims and if you have the time to learn all the ins and out of a particular rule set you can have hours and hour and hours of fun so long as you're not to invested in the outcome. For example, I've played a lot of Wooden Ships and Iron Men. A very good simulation and once you're expert at all the many many rules, can be a lot of fun. But I've never won Trafalgar as the French. That all being said games like the game demonstrated offer something sims can't and that is strategic scope. You can do whatever you want without being bogged down by "history". However, I would like to see them introduce Infantry and anti-tank gun maneuver elements. Wouldn't change the game dynamics, so why not. Anyway just my opinion. Good video thanks

Definitely, this is a good point. I know the tactical level appeals to a lot of people just for that reason, that it's easier to make tactical engagements that are balanced.

I think the nice thing about this one is that you can easily adjust the difficulty. For younger players, you could start with just tanks, no armor tokens, no leaders. Then gradually fold in more of the mechanics. ~ And yeah, I have no idea how I missed that "friendly". :) And I kept thinking, "Wow, this card is so powerful!" 😅
