You're not far off with your assessment that Web of Shadows was the successor to SM3. There were many on the SM3 team that thought it was garbage during development. The most vocal were subsequently "banished" to work with Shaba Games on Web of Shadows after SM3 shipped. WoS provided an opportunity to fix a lot of the issues with SM3. The credit for much of the gameplay and concept go to Shaba Games, but a small band of rebels from Treyarch were in the trenches, as well. Side note: New York City was completely redone for SM3. The streets were wider in SM3, increasing the distance between swing anchors. That contributed a great deal to the swinging mechanic feeling "not good" in SM3. Additional side note: The building tech and assets were loaned to Radical Entertainment when they were developing Prototype. If you look at the city in Prototype, it looks awfully familiar. Last side note: Web of Shadows was originally called Red vs Black. Which is, objectively, a better title.

Huh. Interesting to hear really. Not surprising. Though I disagree with your last comment. Red vs Black sound cringy as hell. Web of Shadows works way better for the subject matter imo. Imagine if Insomniac or another developer suddenly announced they were completely remaking this game but keeping a ton of the assets. Web strike, Web slinging, spider sense mechanics most of the gameplay. Combat was getting overhauled (including Wall combat) to be more Spider Man like. Better graphics and character models. Better voice acting. Josh Keaton as Spider Man and Steve Blum as both Venom and Wolverine. Going all in with the moral choices and the Black Suit having more of a set story impact rather than "Oh yeah it only makes gameplay changes". I think it would be awesome. I'd love to see it. Yuri Lowenthal may be Spider Man from the PS4 exclusives but Josh Keaton is who I'd want for the Spider Man: Web of Shadows Remake

If another version (including the wii of all systems) can have a complete version, then why wouldn't they just put everything on the ps3 as well. It's a great game on its own, I just get bored looking at the same skin all the time and don't want to have to buy it on my computer as well just to mod a skin in.

The choice system made me feel like I was playing as the Spider-Man when i was a kid. In part 1 you said "why isn't there a game where you can Be The Spider-Man?" this in my opinion, was the closest thing we got. Not once did I think to myself "what would Spider-Man do?" when making a decision, which made me feel so immersed in the game. The choices you made would lead to about 6 different endings by the way.

EDIT: This game does have New Game + its just really stupidly hidden. You gotta watch the credits the entire way through, then at the main menu, hit continue, and watch the credits in it’s entirety again, then the 2nd time you hit continue you’ll start New Game +. I didn’t wanna delete my comment, so I just edited it. This is unnecessary now, don’t bother reading it \/ Web of Shadows is probably the best Spiderman game so far, although I will say this. Once you complete the game, you have to start again. No free roaming, no New Game +, you're just done and you have to start again if you wanna keep playing. I've completed it 4 times but there's 2,100 fucking spider tokens to collect and I can never come close before beating the game.

Spider-Man: Friend or Foe was actually pretty fun when I was a kid and I still play it from time to time. I just enjoyed destroying easy to beat goons to pass the time. But the thing that really made it awesome for me and surprisingly enough, some of my family, was the fighting arena you could go to where 2 players battled each other. My brother, dad, and I always enjoyed that part of the game and whenever Friend or Foe is brought up, we immediately go to the battle arena. This game set up a better bond between me, my siblings, and my parents have to admit, it was quite a fun game, even though it was like a Lego kids video game. It certainly doesn't have the most perfect gameplay but it's moderately okay. It defined a part of my childhood, so I always hold it there in my heart. 7/10 Spider-Man: Web of Shadows was in my opinion, by far the best, if not one of the best Spider-Man games to be created. The web-swinging had great mechanics and for the time it was created, pretty good graphics. Although the plot wasn't very original, it definitely made itself out to be really good. It showed the true impact of a symbiotic virus in New York. I really enjoyed the inclusion of other Marvel character's, such as Moon Knight and Luke Cage. The ending was by far the most nerve-racking for me as a little kid. The giant symbiote monster that you had to fight absolutely terrified me and I had to hand the controls back to my dad because I couldn't do it. When the game ended, I was a little saddened free roam wasn't an option due to how amazingly good the web-swinging was when you had to do street gang take-down missions. The quick-time events were certainly the most frustrating part of the game and I sometimes had to take a break because of it. Nonetheless, this game has a special place in my heart and I still wish I could have the time to complete it by myself. 9.9/10 Well, those are my reviews for these Spider-Man games. We're all entitled to our opinions and I have no other choice but to respect yours. Have a nice day.

(I'm also a Giant Venom/Spider-Man Fan so enjoy my nerdy rant.) Also to add onto the Klyntar/Venom lore, the Symbiote is an actual sentient being. They are not liquid mass with no will, emotions or intelligence, so they can't spread like a disease. So when Venom gave Spider-Man the Black suit, that wasn't reproduction, so that means there's ANOTHER Venom on Spider-Man. (Who is silent for some reason.) And Venom isn't Carnage, like what you said Venom is very sympathetic and caring. Venom would never hurt an innocent being since Eddie can relate to them. (I know about Mac Gargon, but that's different) Venom will hate Spider-Man for a bit than forgives him and decides to become the Lethal Protector to be like Spider-Man, so deciding to contaminate a WHOLE STATE and causing so much destruction for no reason makes no sense. Okay now I'm done.

web of shadows' combat was so satisfying and also symbiotic wolverine was cool af he uses a web shield just like in MVC and other oldschool fighting games, they gave a good attention to the combat details on this game

13:32 I have two assumptions for this. 1. Since both Peter and Eddie have strong ties with the Venom symbiote, it gives them an immunity from being harmed by the barriers somehow. And that the infected humans are not strong enough to be given said immunity. But it wouldn't make sense since there's no source material that supports this. Also, if you choose to activate Tinkerer's anti-symbiote device to wipe out the infected city, Peter loses the symbiote but not Eddie. So that's another mystery. 2. S.H.I.E.L.D. secretly put in some device that only allows Spider-Man to enter through the barriers easily, despite their shaky hostility towards him through the game. Again, just assumptions of mine, so both aren't exactly right.

Web of Shadows was the best. It was long, I loved playing a dark, gritty, emotional turn on Spider-Man's broken down world, it had the best story, I love how you can make decisions that turn the entire game around, The game mechanics were great, but controlling them was a pain in the Assiest Arse there is, and I loved Spidey's interactions with the characters, like him getting trained by Luke, for example, and the soundtrack went great with the game. I felt for Spidey as soon as the first song played. I love how diverse and varied the characters are, and all the different costumes you could unlock. I really hated the motion controls, though. I love Wolverine's quiz. The game was a childhood staple for me. It was extremely fun. And Ultimate Spider-Man is a close second for me.

Friend or foe was surprisingly not that bad imo,it was a fun little experience and felt different from the rest but is far from the best. Web of shadows is in my top 5 favorite Spider-Man games in fact it’s the second best Spider-Man game next to Spider-Man PS4.

I disagree on the choice mechanics, i think it's well implemented. One of the trade marks of the black suit is that when Spider-Man is on it he becomes douchy and sometimes evil, so the fact that choosing black makes Spidey a douche is in character. The choice is suppoused to represent wether the symbiote is taking over or Peter is keeping it at bay. And again it's done well, both versions act like they should Imo.

Wait, so...you're arguing with the game because the story that THEY ORIGINALLY created could "never" happen? Or that spider man HAS to be spider man and not that douche venom suit? I mean, if you ask pretty much everyone who's played it and beat it without being a douche and picking the good choices, they'll all say that spider man is well...SPIDER MAN. He doesn't act out of term if you pick the choices he would and the story thing? It's a what if story, like the choices. It's giving you the choice to be regular spider man or a evil side we've never seen before, they're letting us players who like more evil than good have some fun. Same with the venom boss at the end, even if it could "never" happen, it's a "what if it did happen" sort of thing. So, It has amazing gameplay, makes you feel like regular spider man AND venom suit spiderman (which ever one you pick) and it has a what if awesome bad ass story. It's DEFINITELY without a doubt one of the best spider man games out there and DEFINITELY should not be next to spider man 3. #bombsquad

I really loved playing this game as a kid and still love it. I actually have never played a good playthrough and have only played with the black suit because it feels and looks amazing.
