Great video. As for the PCIE - Generation support , there should be 2 x PCIE-5 x 4 slots and 2 X PCIE-4 x 4 slots. I have the Asus ProArt X670-E Creator WiFi. I would doubt that the new X870-E version wouldn't have the same capability as the X670-E model.

Main reason why I selected this board, over Crosshair Hero, is 3rd PCIe slot... which I use for SoundBlaster AE-5. There is no chance that I would want to use slimSAS port to add a PCIE daughter board and then cram that into case, just for additional sound card. I have Crosshair VII for my old PC and its integrated (Supreme) sound cannot even come close to the crispiness and sound separation that SoundBlaster offers. Just a small thing that made me not select the most expensive board this time. Sometimes I think that vendors are loosing their touch with what PC enthusiasts want. We want options, primarily.

Great overview but the x670e version of this board allows both m2x5.0's and GPU to be populated at 16x with no lane switching. Do the same on this board and the GPU speed in slot 1 drops tp 8x. This is because usb4.0 takes 4 lanes from the cpu leaving only 20 lanes. On the x670e the USB 4.0 lanes come from the chipset. The tech specs are available if you Google them. Also Gemini agrees.

If I was to go for the x870e , my 2nd gpu would run at 4x or I would have to drop one of my 5.0 M2's if I wanted 8x/8x or 16x in PCI-E slots. With my current ProArt X670-E, I did the following: - Connect DP-OUT from GPU to DP-IN on motherboard - Connect 40G type C to my CalDigit TS4 dock - Connect Logitech USB receivers to my TS4 dock - Connect monitor to my TS4 dock This way, I could use one cable to switch from a MacBook Pro to my Ryzen desktop, by just moving the Type C cable. It worked, but was a bit crashy (Windows would sometimes lock up). Switching to direct connection resolved the issues. Do you know if something like this would work better on X870-E? It really would be super helpful to just swap out a cable rather than plugging/unplugging all the time (I have two MacBooks and a desktop, and I don't want to pair/unpair bluetooth all the time to switch between devices). A KVM switch unfortunately does not work for my use case either, as I could not find a KVM that could drive my 6k@60 monitor and all these devices, but maybe I didn't look hard enough.

Looks like the offering for MATX this time around are rather limited. I remember a few years ago when there were quite a few high end offerings from Asus, MSi, and Gigabyte.. About the only one thats caught my eye is the ASRock Z890 PG Riptide wifi which was on display at Computex. I really wanted to build a nice high end MATX system in the case I have. But I haven't seen any CAMM2 offerings for MATX or ITX, just standard ATX. I may end up buying another case and just going with ATX. Either that or I may hold off on my build until around CES 2025 and see if we get some better offers.. SFF and MATX just seem to be getting shafted anymore. There are some really nice small cases available and coming soon, but a very limited choice of boards. I don't wanna have to buy a new board down the road, rebuild my entire system, and then go through all the tuning and stress test again.. I sure hope we get some more support and offerings for SFF stuff down the road.

Would of been better with 2 10Gb or 10Gb/5Gb lan. Having 10Gb/2.5Gb is dumb. Come on and give us 90 degree power connectors. Would save so much hassle. The q latches are very cool.

hi @KleoYan I have the same 4090 TUF graphics card as you. It's a very thick/wide card. Do you know if, on this motherboard, if you plug it into the 1st pcie slot (closest to the CPU), does it physically block the 2nd slot!? Asus lists the card as being "3.65 slots wide" and I'm looking for a board that I can use with a Mellanox 25Gb card in the x8 pcie slot (and an RME soundcard in the last x4 slot).

Hi xyvyx, welcome to my channel the card I am using in this illustration is not a 4090 is a 4070ti Super. So sorry, I can't answer your question as I do not own a 4090.

rgbs do not produce a meaningful amount of heat so that you'd have to offset it with more cooling; is rgb ugly - sure
@KleoYan
@KleoYan Ай бұрын
@@realiesOne hi and welcome to my channel. Thank you for the feedback. What you have mentioned is true, is just me. Personally I do not like argb in general. Rgb is still ok with a physical remote to turn it off or on, but not argb which needs application to run. Nevertheless you are right, can always off set the heat with more cooling.
@realiesOne
@realiesOne Ай бұрын
@@KleoYanthanks. But my comment is about the negligible amount of current needed by argb. Therefore, no meaningful amount of additional heat that needs to be offset.

It costs way too much for what it is. It doesn't have a 2 dollar Debug code reader and for example it's onboard audio is absolutely garbage compared to the Strix parts but hey because of "adult" looks Asus can ask the same as for a Strix X870E-E a board with much more features. (better vrm, better vrm cooling, integrated start and reset buttons, clear cmos button of the back of the io shield, easy unlock button for the top x16 pcie slot and on and on)

The audio part I don’t think so , I had a z790 strix f and the sound was bad very thin and flat .. but I exchanged it for a z790 pro art and it sounds very good. I use an audio interface Apollo twin but somehow the strix board was producing a bad signal and sounded bad , but the pro art it’s good the signal is good

@@KleoYan no problem and yea the strange thing was that even when i was using my interface the sound wasnt changing the strix board was producing a bad signal and my old asrock board used to do something similar when i installed a bigger power supply, they way the boards manage the power can affect the sound signal.
@KleoYan
@KleoYan Ай бұрын
@@guilladogui8259 ok, now you are hitting something which I do experience.. I had a few boards that does that to my audio interface, at first I thought my mic XLR is giving the problem as I do recordings most of the time, so I changed the XLR cable, no help. next I thought the cables which are for my speakers are the problem, so I change the cables with better OFC cables but still there are irritating static. There I think, could it be the type C to type A cable from my audio console to my motherboard is causing the issue, again I changed that cable, still useless. I am real irritated by the static noise and I thought my motherboard is not getting clean power, so got a power brick, still having the same issue. till I read about USB connection of the motherboard are shared current as in drawing from the same source, so I fiddle around and decided to disable the motherboard onboard audio in UEFI/BIOS. Rebooted the system.. WALA, the static is gone lol.. Since the day I did this, for every board I own, I will just disable it as I don't use it. I can understand how frustrating you are with the irritating static. especially if you are doing voice over, it just drive you nuts. Thanks again for sharing, I do get to learn things from you or anyone who share their thoughts, I greatly appreciated it. three thumbs up buddy 👍👍👍 😉
