🔺another great video! If I can add just a minor note, Crowley's perspective on the nature of spirits changed greatly throughout his lifetime. While we find a "psychological" approach in his introduction to his edition of the Goetia, that perspective will move completely to the other side of the spectrum as his understanding of magick grew.

I would not advise the manipulative methods outlined in the Goetia. Demons cannot be "controlled" or "bent to the magician's will" simply by reciting an incantation and drawing a triangle and a circle. All of the Goetic demons can be summoned safely as long as you do so in a respectful manner. They may freely choose to help you if you humbly request their assistance, but it would be unwise to try to order them around or make demands.

I think Jake Stratton Kent's Geosophia is going to be viewed with as much respect and reverence as the works of Crowley a few decades down the line, if not currently...that is one of the best modern occult/esoteric works there is, in my opinion! (Though I'm somewhat frustrated, as always, that there's a few things he doesn't provide references for that would be interesting and useful to check on and further investigate...alas, I was never able to ask him about them. It would be interesting to get a number of scholars of this material together to see if our pooled knowledge could figure out what he might have been talking about in the case I'm thinking of...I can say more about that in a less public forum at some stage, if you're sufficiently intrigued!) I stopped practicing for several years after two decades of ceremonial magick. After a while, I decided I would experiment with one of the two things that people swear up and down works: enochian and goetic evocation. So I tried goetic evocation. And you know what happened? Nothing. Not a gd thing. I felt nothing. I saw nothing. Nothing at all happened. Later, I would decide to do some enochian work, and I did get some surprising results from that, but goetic evocation? Nada.

Back in 1993 I was a 16year old high school drop out with, .. problems. I wrote an essay outline with what I was having problems with. No f-cking help from high school consulars as to who to get proper help from. I went to a dozen churches and all I got from them was, " Pray to Jesus." I went to my town's synagogue, guest what ? They ask me about if I heard about the Lesser Keys of Solomon. I went on a short few minute rant that I been reading that book for four years and I called it overrated as they read over my essay. Then the adult parent age and some of the elders help me for around ten months walk me through my own problems, cause on one hand those demons were just an early attempt to understand human phycology/emotions as were the Olympians to the Greeks. If you look at the Jotun as concepts of the seven deadly sins or as .. sin eaters .. Norse Jotun were another group of goetic beings. So I was sitting in a side archive bookroom in a Jewish temple listening to prayers and some old people help me calm my mind and gain a sense of inter balance. And they Knew I was going into full pagan mode. They didn't try to covert me or dam me for witchcraft as a Xtian would. Just help me find my own personal place in the world. On my mom's dad's side, traditional German military family Boda was wolf mother and stuff wolf/ husky toy was the wolf mother spirit looking after us children, Loki was the hearth fire spirit. Angrboda was/is my family's house totem. It isn't like my German extended family were a bunch of closet Jotun worshipers hidden behind Lutheran public face.
