Enjoyed it. @ 1:32 I got to demo Alex's 5.5M hand wing and it has tons of power compared to my Naish 5.3M. Generally the GoFoil handwings seemed powerful for the size even compared to my Slingshot V2. I think you'd like that 5.5 for the "light" Oahu winds you were talking about 10-20. I'm a little lighter riding the GL210 in those small conditions in FL. I also thought that 5'0 board was crazy good too. Stable in the water, shape pops up easy, and feels really great on foil with that tapered tail - buying one of those next. Got up in lighter wind than I normally can with my current setup.

The steps at the end are a crude approximation of the wing's bell curve lift distribution as discussed by former chief scientist of NASA Albion Bowers and is a practical realisation of Ludwig Prandtl's second major formulae from around 90 years ago. It was first copied from birds in Ludwig's time by the Horton Brothers and is sneaking out into hydrofoil desing starting 2021. I brought up Albion's research on Kiteforum early last year and following that we now see GoFoil & Triton T1 demonstrating this technology in new products. I did my own design algorithms for this Feb 2022 and I've been riding my own progressive pitch change wings my last 4 sessions(No steps in my designs). This really is a game changer and all the manufacturers will eventually incorporate this technology. My own one, notable characteristics are high stall angle, stealth, non destructive tip breachs, incredibly soft low speed stall, often recovers seamlessly from a full surface breach. Super playful in waves, for me it's giving me the confidence in control + speed to develop my own wave riding which was quite retarded till I designed my latest foil. Riding waves I have never felt as in control as I do on this foil and in my 3'rd session I started cutting up waves, picking up the energy in the wave face for the first time in my foiling life, which for my 115kg and 55 years old is not as simple as it seems! I think the step near the wing tips is more of a gimmick as explained, but the different wing tip angle is very important. Alex's discussion of the behaviour of being less easy to stall is the same as I'm experiencing. How it works is that the centre section of the wing's angle of atack is normally let down by the wing tip pressure distribution transition, vorticies and tip stall. Twisting the tips permits a higher angle of atack of the main wing section and the board which is what I experience. In my case I have tubercles too.

I grew up in South Florida racing windsurfers with Alex and brother Greg, don't be fooled by his calm low key demeaner. Alex is a professional in all sense of the word. With Gofoil you do not just get a quality durable product but years of experience on the water incorporated into each a every foil. Since switching to Gofoil foils my novice wingfoiling skills have rapidly advance. This is great information for anyone looking to enjoy the sport!
