GoFoil GT and RS Front Foil Wings Compared

For a wave riding setup it sounds like your preference was for the RS1000 or the RS1150. What Go Foil mast length would you recommend with those foils for wave riding?

I'd go 80cm for clean waves and 90cm for larger, choppy waves. -Tucker

What do you think of running a big wing such as F One 7 or 8 and the RS 1150 for light winds, and just dropping wing size down and continuing to use the RS 1150 when wind increases. If you wanted to get away with just one foil.

That will work well if you have decent technique into moderately light winds. If you want to hit the maximum low end wind range (maybe 10-12kn for most) you'll want a larger foil as well GT1400 or GT2200 -Tucker

My friend is a pro rider for Gofoil. He is 190 lbs and he told me the GT 1400 with short fixed tail is his choice for one foil. I weigh 160 lbs. so I plan to start off with the GT 1250 with the long fixed tail. The conditions of my place is usually 10-12 kts wind.

Sounds like a good plan assuming you have some skill already. If you are still learning, the GT1400 would be the better choice. -Tucker

What is your definition of a ‘good day’ (kts)? How much do you weigh? What is your favourite mast length?

Great questions! I'm 190-200lbs dry most of the year. My favorite mast is the 36.5 for the RS wings but I also use the 32.5 frequently at shallower spots. I tend to pick foil wings based on the surf. I'd say "good" is 4' or larger with 18kn+. The really exceptional days I'd ride the RS1000 are 6'+ and 25kn+. I can ride the 1000 up to around 12' faces with our waves since they are pretty slopey. -Tucker
