Even Patsy Cline cannot do justice to this wonderful song as much as Gogi Grant does ! Its not just her great voice but, the special rhythm of the soundtrack, also. Even at 80, she sounds as good as the original, WOW !!!!

I wish the tremendous ovation that Gogi received had been included here. What a moment of triumph. Gogi nailed it, half a century later. There must not have been a dry eye in the house.

Such a beautiful voice and lady. What a shame she gave up her singing career so early on. She sounds just as good on this PBS show as she did back in the 50's.

Gogi Grant, you rock! I watched this performance on PBS, and it was spellbinding. This song always makes me weepy, for it makes me think of my father's difficult upbringing. It's a song for the ages, that's for sure.

I have fond childhood memories of playing this song on the portable record player my parents bought me for Christmas 1955 when I was 10 years old. Gogi absolutely nailed it back then, and 49 years latter, in 2004, she nailed it again. What a great song and such a beautiful voice. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, they certainly don't make them like they used to.

Thanks Gogi for being part of our life and many others to: I will see you again in the spirit and beauty of "THE WAYWARD WIND". Awsome! She has kept her voice. I listened to her in the 50s and its the same. She must be close to 90 now and I am willing to bet she can still sing that song exactly the same way.

Congers up a memory of the graduating class of Mygatts graded school in 1957, where an upper class-man played that song on his trumpet. It has that haunting, wistful recollection of the beginning of a more civil rock-n-roll era, where as first year teenagers, we dreamed of long lasting love and marriage relationships. A time of innocence that has been lost to love of self and things and when you finally realize what it is that's gone...the freedom to retrieve it has also been removed.

Her original studio version still blows me away. What a voice! Amazing artist. Some people just have no idea. I grew up on great music, then forgot it, and now don't have any boundaries at all anymore regarding time or eras. Great is great.

This was the song I never forgot and have 'sung in the shower', and play on chromatic harmonica (gave that up for many years before coming back to it), because it evokes such emotions. I can't understand how anyone could want to hear any other version but Gogi's. Hers is the voice I hear in my head as I play the song (by ear). The video of her from 4 yrs ago blew me away! How many almost-80 yr old women still have their voices with such power, beauty, style and grace? Astonishing! I love her!

Gogi needs to be spanked; I recently picked up a mint copy of the album Suddenly There's Gogi Grant (1957 Era Records). I was prepared to be bored by "The Wayward Wind" and "Suddenly..." but all of a sudden the track "The One I Love (Belongs To Someone Else)" came on and, so help me, I made Gogi sing that damn thing about 100 times. Part jazz, a drop of blues and all heart made this specific recording a masterpiece. I was singing it with Gogi well into the night! Entertaining, versatile singer.

Ever stop and think how great current technology is? You can be surfing the web and an old song from the past that you haven't heard in years come to mind. So you do a Google (or equivalent) search and viola up pops links to several KZbin videos/soundtracks. And in a matter of seconds you're listening to that song basking in pleasant memories from the past. Sometimes the number of views are in the tens or hundreds of thousands (must be a lot of others like me out there), and as you would expect many grace the publisher with a thumbs up. But there are always a few knuckleheads who give a thumbs down. I'm starting to think there is a group of cretins out there who randomly troll You Tube and get off doing thumbs down. What else would explain why someone would purposely come to the site to watch an old video clip or soundtrack from the past only to rate it negatively.
