This is my FAVE go/gos song ..what a breath of fresh air this song is .and what a love song too !! Talk Show was their BEST WORK to date and the record company was wise to release this as a single ! (LOVE YOU JANE)

Why when it only reached #86 and many other tracks would've gotten alot higher in the charts. Yes or No for me as a single is a resounding No, considering the six other great tracks that you have to choose from as single releases. Capture the Light, I'm The Only One, You Thought & Forget That Day are four tracks I would have as very single worthy indeed.

I do agree with Talk Show being their best work to date though, but I can't see how you have this as your fave considering all the other super strong tracks to choose from. Personally I have this as one of the worst tracks on the album, although I don't totally dislike it, it is not a big favourite for me. I think the Go-Go's are at their best on the more briskly paced tracks, where Gina can display her drumming prowess and the guitars and bass can provide a wonderful backdrop for Belinda to display some strong and emotional vocals.

Yes or No is taken from the Go Go's 3rd Album 1984's Talk Show Belinda Carlisle is on Lead Vocals and Jane Wiedlin Russell and Ron Mael are the Composer of Yes or No.

Induct this talented group of Musicians into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!! All female band, #1 Album all female band, paved the way for Punk Bands like "GreenDay". They weren't even listed on Top 40 Punk Bands by Rolling Stone. Travesty!!

Talk Show is close to Beauty and the Beat. Vacation is great but not quite as good as the 2 for mentioned albums. Oh, yeah....Belinda is a goddess :) 2:26

I would rate Talk Show as their best album, with Beauty a close 2nd and God Bless 3rd with Vacation last. All top albums though with so many awesome tunes. I can never tire of listening to The Go-Go's !

At 1:38, as she sings, "If you've got somewhere to be, if you've got someone besides me", Belinda glances (maybe significantly) at Jane. Perhaps foreseeing Jane's eventual departure?

Partly, because of Belinda's popularity and all the attention she got. And, Jane wanted to start singing lead to some of the songs she wrote. Charlotte and the others knocked that idea down, pointing out that Belinda is the lead singer and "the voice" of The Go-Go's. Belinda wrote in her book that the girls also partially blamed her husband for interfering in the group, which lent to the tensions before the split. Sort of a Beatles/Yoko One-type thing. Of course, other factors came into play causing the break-up such as drugs and creative differences.

Kathy Valentine later admitted in her Twitter memoir "we shoulda let Jane sing that song." I tend to agree. The band asked Jane to share her royalties, but they refused to let her share the lead vocals--they were begging for her to quit. Which she did.

@@TrackerNeil They forced Jane into a corner. And you're right, she had no choice but to depart. Any person in that position will always choose that route. So dumb to limit the band's sound like that. Even Ringo got to sing lead once in a while.

I disagree with razrramone. I think im the only one should have not only been released, but been given more promotion than head over heels. It should have gone down as their biggest single. I dont think yes or no is worthy of singlehood. I will say tho... As someone who never particularly liked this song, this live recording did give me a little sense of respect for it.

@@brandon.lewis. Sheesh, a single line of disagreement I write about a failed Go Go's single and someone gets their panties in a bunch. Btw, Gina and Kathy didn't like the song much either, said it was too lightweight and not single-worthy, see KV's book. As it stalled at number #86 both they and I were evidently right. Now please get a life! 😆
