I know the story of how Gohan got down after the Cell saga. But it kinda fits his character somehow. He does not love fighting as Goku, don't want to be the best like Vegeta. He's brave and strong but also more of a kind, peaceful person. The song name is "Gohan's Anger" but now we listen to the melody again and you will understand what I say.

I doubt it. Sure he went Mystic and was stronger than SSj3 Goku and make SPC look like an insect (literally and figuratively), but once he stopped training and the form faded I think he's probably equal to Perfect Cell, even if he can still access SSj2. Just because he can go SSj2 doesn't neccessarily mean he'll be on par with his younger SSj2 self, it just means he will have a 100x base multiplier.

I imagine Gohan didn't have a strong bond with his father at the start, because Goku didn't spend much time with his son. However, they did have an important moment together because the last father-son moment they had was in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, training for the Cell fight. But Goku died on the day of that final battle... a day that Gohan would remember with feelings of guilt. The lack of a father in Gohan's life was sure to affect him. But his mother on the other hand... only cared about making his son a prodigy in society for her own selfish sense of accomplishment. Gohan... never really had anybody. He lived in a place far from civilization, out in nature. Seems like he basically had no friends until high school, which I think is why he seemed socially clueless. 10-11 year old Gohan was the strongest person in his universe. Maybe settling down to live a peaceful life shouldn't be looked down. For someone who awoken his powers after portraying what he really believed in, maybe his decision was understandable after all. Edit: I wrote this during the beginnings of Dragon Ball Super and all... Gohan was getting as lot of hate (and part of that is the writer's fault I admit). But also I realized that Gohan was not a kind of Goku. And I especially saw this when I played Dragon Ball Z Shin Budokai, when Gohan's emotions and grief at his father was more explored.

KZbin Watcher Actually, it WAS intended for Gohan to be the main character of Z. He was going to be the first one to go Super Saiyan, but pressure from editors/fans made Toriyama change his mind. At least that's what I've heard. It makes sense if you look at the Saiyan and Namek sagas. They're almost entirely focused on Gohan and how he gets super powerful when pissed off.

Gohan was supposed to take over the mantle of Goku as protector and champion of the world. The fans said "No, we want Goku. He's always been the hero." What happened to Gohan has always felt to me like Toriyama's response. Yes, Goku kept going, and things were awesome. But there's this character with massive potential that we never let Toriyama use because we didn't trust him. We wanted the person we had stuck with for so long; we weren't willing to take a chance. Now, after seeing the possibilities too late, it's us that have to watch as Gohan fades away... We get what we deserve.

looking at gohan now it's hard to believe that I'm even watching the same charecter. while a majority of my enjoyment of gohan as a character was because of his super saiyan 2 transformation, I also looked at him from the standpoint of being a badass for different reasons to his father. while goku for the most part fights because he enjoys it and wants to push his limits constantly to see how far he can go, gohan fights to protect his family and friends. of course goku still cares enough about his world to not let the bad guys win, but again he ultimately enjoys fighting anyway. people think that I believe gohan should be a goku 2.0, but that is not the case. even at his super saiyan 2 form, I know gohan is not another goku because he fights for different reasons. Also, in my opinion, if the story was supposed to continue after cell, and gohan was never meant to be the next fighting hero, then he shouldn't have been given the enormous hidden power/secret chosen one type charecteristic in the first place. furthermore, if gohan doesn't like fighting, then why was he in EVERY major battle throughout DragonBall Z? also, I was under the impression with the speech that android 16 gave to gohan before his death was the final wake up call to him, basically saying that if you truly want to protect the world and the people you care about, then you HAVE to step up to the mantle and take over for your father. goku would have defeated cell if it wasn't meant to turn out the way it did in cell saga. all of these things from the cell saga is the reason why when I look back on the buu saga, I can't help feel that many of the things in that saga feel shoehorned in.

It begins with a close up of green fingers playing the piano in a white room... It starts showing different angles- an ear, a shoulder pad, and then... it slowly rises to his serious face as our Namekian focuses on the melody. The next shot is of him from the back as it slowly begins to pan out to include Trunks and Vegeta on guitar and drums respectively as the beat hits. The shot finally reaches its end and we see the back of a blonde-haired boy's head... In a flash of light they all become super saiyans, with the boy now shimmering with electricity. He turns towards us, revealing himself as Gohan and pulls out a violin and begins to play. The camera pans out while rotating 360 degrees to show all musicians playing in unison. We see an image of a set of small saiyan armor in a box on the floor. Then a child's size sword leaning against the wall. Then an image of a red hat with a four-star ball on its top. Then we see a picture of Dr. Gero hanging on the wall shaking, until it falls and breaks. We get one last look at the heroes as the music fades out... the camera ends on a ghostly image of Goku smiling from the corner, proudly.

I'm an older fan, I watched this show with my two sons because my wife didn't like all the fighting ( even though they were teenagers) but I found myself loving this animated TV show. It was extremely well built, now in my retirement I rewatched the entire series as well as the parody version of TeamfourStar (loved it). I think the only flaw in TFS was they failed to show the genius of Goku in the cell saga. He saw the potential he was never there to see from his son in the time chamber. He finally got his chance to train his son and suddenly see just how powerful he was. I love in the anime he trained with him and tried to keep his son in a limited effort range but then he saw glimpses of how the boy's power came, how his emotions played such a vital role. He understood just how well connected his son was with his emotions and how it drove him. So after training the boy to match his own power in the time chamber Goku decided to train him in the real world understanding how disconnected from the world he was. So after spending time in the time chamber he went and forced his son, a boy that has fought for the survival of the world more than once, who is probably sick and tired of a cycle of fighting and studying to spend time with his family as well as see the beauty of the world to appreciate it. He had him spend time to see just how precious life and the world was so he would unleash his power when he snapped. As the gap was far too wide to be achieved between Cell and himself Goku decided the easiest and best way was through Gohan. He decided to fight cell to show Gohan Cell's fighting pattern and see how to fight him and then said the words that best describe this plan. "What do you say, son, go out there and win this one for me so we can all just go home". He, unfortunately, he did not take into account Gohan's lack of thirst for the battle which Piccolo told Goku, but it was too late. As Goku said, "..Then when cell forces Gohan into a corner (figuratively) he will be forced to unlock his potential and to go right through him". He did after Android #16 was killed, but then to an 11-year-old boy who has just grasped the notion of death being permanent he saw just how much #16 loved life and it suddenly clicked how he could not stand by and watch while every one else fight for him. "Gohan...you are gentle, you do not wish to hurt, but there are those who words alone cannot reach, Cell is such a creature...it is because you cherish life you must fight to protect it", this drove the point in home and he saw just how much #16 was willing to pay to protect it. That is when he snapped. I love that entire part of the series because despite how much Goku is shown to be immature and how little he plans outside of someone saying it, he finally shows that he intelligently planned it all out. I luckily was able to sit and watched the less vulgar Dragonball Kai with my younger grandson who enjoyed all the killing ( he's 7). I even bought him a costume for Halloween he can wear of Goku's outfit.

SSJ3 is a different transformation. You can't just get angry to get it. You can have power similar to it, but you cant become it. Goku had a special training which got him SSJ3 and Gotenks was on a scale. Goten and Trunks where both 1.5-1.9 so when you combine them, you get 3-3.8.

Vivek Kapil I never said he did. I only said SSJ3 is a different transformation and Mystic (Same thing as Ultimate) is what you get when you unlock your hidden abilities. So far, Gohan has had 2 Hidden abilities unlocked. Kid Gohan got his hidden potential unlocked from Guru, and When he was a adolescent, got his hidden ability unlocked from Elder Kai.

Fuck no. Goku & Vegeta part 2 would've never happened. Gotenks would've never happened because Goku had to teach them & piccolo the technique.
