We take so much of our highway system for granted. The Turnpike opened when I was a kid, so my dad always took that. But I had friends in north Jersey and they'd take the Pulaski highway. Even though it was built long before my time, I thought it quite impressive, and recognized the engineering as top-notch.

As a lifelong Jersey City resident, the Skyway and these roads have been fixtures of my life. I'm not old enough to have known life before the Skyway, so your video offered me insights into just how innovative and enabling these projects were in their time. Thanks!

You're fortunate to reside near such a historic highway! Thanks for watching!

Very good. I especially like how it examines the entire 13.2-mile project, not just the iconic 3.2-mile river crossing.

I have driven the Pulaski Skyway so many times. It’s amazing that this 91 year old road still stands strong.

In the days before gps… getting to Hoboken was a challenge the first few times going through tonnelle circle…. 😃

Everytime I take the Pulaski Skyway I realize it wasn't designed for 300 hp autos with its short ramps and curves. Crazy to see the innovation change between the Skyway and a few decades later with the NJ Turnpike.

Awesome. It's so easy to miss the marvel of the Pulaski Skyway and the rest of this stretch with all the chaos of the area. But Covid days were a great time to leisurely drive here and explore what it means.

As a Jersey person, the Pulaski Skyway is great until a car breaks down or there's an accident. You could be trapped for hours. There's an alternate "Truck Route 1-9 that I take when I'm in that area. I'm sure when it was built, it was a work of art and did the job well.

Nice to see the Road Explorer on the historic 1&9. On one hand it’s praised. On the other it’s cursed at. I think most commuters accept it as a necessary evil. The highway system was designed in an era when then population was a one third the size of today.

Yes, agreed. When we drove it through Elizabeth, you got the sense that every single car just wanted to get through there as quickly as possible. Thanks for watching and your comment!

Grew up in NE NJ for decades (lived on Clenndenny Ave in JC til age 10). The Skyway & that entire area will forever be iconic, tho i'm glad to see they FINALLY improved the Tonnelly circle area (only took like what...70 years??!!). Saw a guy riding a bicycle over the Skyway once; seen a few errant tractor trailers up there too. And yeah: have been stuck up there for hours when there was an accident. No way down (except the "permanent" way!)

Late at night,rainy,morons to your left and behind you,metal railings immediately on your right. Absolute terror. Yeah,great design for these times.

You gotta buy a smaller car.
@arthurbilenker26225 ай бұрын
@@ericwieboldt7042 So you get a bigger car and have to contend with the narrow lanes. The thing was developed when cars were slower and drivers not as nuts, driving fast no matter what the road conditions were. Christe spent the money on the skyway which was intended for the Hudson River tunnels for NJT and Amtrak,which would have been done by now. The current ARC design is much better but at least the old proposal would have relived pressure on the existing rotting tunnels allowing them to be rebuilt. Meanwhile apartments have been built all along the line, just waiting for a tunnel to fail reducing the current twenty four trains an hour to six. The whole project will supposedly be done by 2035.

I gave this a thumb up although it could be improved with some labeling of the photos and a little more time on the text slides.

The general public has a very low attention span. Ever look at analytics? I would’ve liked to have gotten into much more detail, but why bother when only half the video is consumed? Thanks for watching! Attention spans are short, so the video is short and fast paced.

You’ve never made or edited a video in your life. Evidently, you can’t even proofread. “Male” this very hard to follow along? When you learn how to type properly, perhaps I’ll consider your criticism, Donny. You're sadder with your 20 subscribers.
