I didn't expect the 2D to mess me up so bad. But it feels like a totally different game from CW4

I've played since Creeper World (the original) in the browser on things like Kongregate. Creeper World 3 is still my favorite game mechanically, since it has great progression with the forge, cool enemies, and fun map mechanics (I actually remember playing the map you are playing today, and that was 2-3 years ago that I completed it). I love creeper world 4 too, however CW 3 just feels more balanced to me with gameplay, even though CW 4 wins on visualization.

im pretty sure its probably an easy map, you can make harder maps. i mean it is the campaign so its kinda forced to be easy for the players. later campaign levels get a lot harder and similar to cw4 the player levels are more complicated and harder from experience. the maps i think are similar in style ish
@Guardian-of-Light1372 жыл бұрын
Yeah this is very early in the campaign
@pegusus123462 жыл бұрын
CW3 is just not a particularly hard game. If you stabilize at all, you will eventually win because you can build reactors that increase your energy production. There are, however, maps that have some kind of time limit and they are absolutely fucking brutal.
@brianlance82632 жыл бұрын
@@pegusus12346 yeah, the time limit levels are all rush rush rush, while the rest of the game you can go as quick as you like, so for someone like me who holds the line until I have overwhelming firepower, the timed levels are brutal

Hey Tom! Really happy to see you showing off CW3 on the channel! Imo its the more interesting game mechanically. Mostly because its really good at throwing new ideas at you with each map, new puzzles to solve each time. Whilst CW4 is simpler per map, but the more emotionally satisfying of the two, as that 3D angle really just makes it *feel* really good to fight that creep (or to be it). But of real NOTE! you know how you love those "play as the creep" maps? Well! CW3 has its own genre of extremely similar stuff! Specifically, youre playing as anticreep ONLY. Well, nearly only. You have no weapons, not even sprayers, instead youre using your volume of anticreep spreaders to convert creep spreaders INTO anticreep spreaders! its a fairly difficult but really interesting puzzle. Theres some really technically advanced maps but I can *really* recommend "CHRISTMAS TREE #1" as a really great introduction into the genre! Its a much simpler map than whats been made more recently. The map is made by "Yum234" and if you enjoy that map, then going through the rest of what hes made will do you really well! I cant quite recall 100% but I think the map "LIGHT KISS" was also really good and simple. the genre eventually got called CSM, so searching for "CSM" can be good, altho those can be very complex and overwhelming.
@Vhargon2 жыл бұрын

wow that's really cool, ICreeper World 4 is the only one in the series I've actually seen before, this shows so clearly how much of the mechanics of the game came from its predecessors. I do like the idea that once you've nullified something, it goes boom - no supplying the nullifier and proecting it from creep to worry about!
@sirzorg57282 жыл бұрын
I followed all the dev updates when Knucracker was making CW4, and honestly I think the new nullifier behavior is better thematically, because it makes the creep more menacing. If the emitters can just be destroyed, then the creep is much less dangerous. This stuff is supposed to have destroyed many many civilizations across the galaxy, The nullifier being only able to contain it rather than defeat it makes it an everpresent threat.

The first CW looks pretty much like this one. The graphics are a tiny bit worse and it's missing a lot of mechanics the later games introduce (no anticreep, for example). CW2 is a weird one for the series. Instead of a top-down perspective, it's a side view. The reason for that is that the gameplay is primarily underground. Your base is typically on the surface of the planet and the creep is buried underground. It slowly eats through the terrain, so you have to dig down and stop it before it reaches you. There aren't any collectors, you generate energy solely through reactors and you don't require power lines to resupply your units. Instead you have a sphere of influence that you can build in which can be expanded with a specific type of unit. Creep and AC are affected by gravity. Pretty cool game but quite different from the rest.
