When the very uniformed staff aren’t really interested, and the establishment is trying SO hard to have an ‘identity’, you know it is JUST a commercial establishment, and not a food outlet that LOVES what it serves. 7 seems quite generous, and I did even taste it!!

Blackburn resident here Daniel. I honestly cannot believe they didn't get you a milkshake, it's quite literally the only reason that I take the kids there! The milkshakes are fantastic, a range of about 30, all named after movie star themes (Halle Berry for example has a berries drink), you can see right behind the counter all the chocolate and types. The food you could take it or leave it though, you're right about that! I reckon the boss won't be happy that they didn't at least try and advertise the milkshakes, classic Blackburn eh!

Appreciate the honesty in your reviews. After you were served, I couldn't help but think that those sandwiches didn't look too good. Obviously, I'm just going by appearance rather than taste, but as a former restaurant manager and current foodie, they just looked so average. No real eye appeal. It looks like a tray full of mediocre food. It's so easy to make a really good burger, but clearly they fell short. But, I'm in L.A. - surrounded by In-N-Out Burger locations - so I don't have to go far to get a really good classic burger.

Sure, a restaurant can shine the place up a bit and put on their best face if they know he's coming, but most places think their food is great whether it is or not, so I doubt if anyone would revamp their menu or cook anything differently. Years ago, I was the field inspector for a large international foodservice chain. Sometimes the restaurants knew I was in the area and may be popping in, and sometimes they didn't. Either way, there were still cleanliness and food quality issues that I could easily detect. As the old saying goes, "You can dress a pig up in a party dress but it's still a pig."

Im one that aint too keen on those herby burgers either. If the herbs are overpowering the taste of the beef, its not for me. I prefer a nice beefy flavour with a hint of the herbs n spices, so can see why you weren't too keen on it.
