I heard Magic was OP so for my first playthrough I have been using Dex. And what'ya know I almost locked myself into the chaos route (thank the Axiom for 2 save slates.)

@@ivanlagrana878 Well I ended up dropping the game because I misjudged where the alignment lock was (I assumed it was the first time you got to the Yamato Reactor) and then got locked into Law (since I was avoiding Chaos.) I just watched the endings on KZbin because I am not playing through Law and don't want to restart the game, would rather just play one of the other SMT games on the 3DS. I really hate the alignment system in that game. Still yet to see a game do it better than Devil Survivor and also have a soft spot for the Reasons.

Early game is harder, but then for the rest of the game you'll be wondering how you ever got by with a Magic build. There are so amny nice things. You get one of the best guns in the game-the Ace Bazooka-early on, and with elemental ammo equipped, you'll be dealing good damage to bosses without spending a single MP. Being able to just switch out your ammo frees up your skill slots so much, you can get Charge super early by recruiting a Momunofu, your gun skills will deal a ton of damage when you use them on regular enemies and bosses with no weaknesses like The White. I'm telling you, Dex is the most optimal build unless you're doing a Nuzlocke or some shit where you're stuck in the early game for most of the time.

Magic its pretty good but dex its actually more versatile you can use physical skills(without worrying on Strength) and use bullets for elemental damage honestly kinda op

I did the Gun build for my first playthrough, was even Neutral and it can hit really fucking hard, being able to crit as well with Charged up Riot Gun/Myriad Arrows.

Well may be odd or smart one with my hybrid built of dex/magic with 200 dex, 100 magic, 150 agi and 200 luck and 50 on my 99lvl Flynn. It's awesome to have desperate measure critical alot and all element magic in your hands 😎. And yes I did use some stats increase items for certain stats like strength.

Desperate Hit has the same base power as Megidola and multi-hits with chances to crit for each hit. Calc's off DEX stat. DEX Build is the truth. Tore up the 1/256 Fiends and DLC Bosses with Blicky Flynn build.

Strength does affect the damage of gun and phys skills, just at half the rate that dex affects them.

Phys build is simply absurd specially when you use the spear, even more when you do Law Route since defeating Mastema awards you Longinus, best spear in the game.
