A gorgeous feeling all around this film. The editor is really talented. Transitions are pure and carry the film's carefree and educational spirit. I remember doing a bunch of rabbit-hole research around Kesey and Leary, Deadheads and the like in my college years. Not my gods or anything, but I have respect for people who have the courage to lead with love and engage with the world/experience of living in less predictable ways. Friendly documentary-style sweep of the era, as well. For someone who wasn't there, I felt the happy acid nostalgia 🤸‍♀️🌞

you can't get acid nowadays with the quality and same huge dosage that was commonly attainable, in the 60's and the 70's. You just don't see acid now that has over 2,000 micrograms in one capsule or whatever form we bought it in.

Being English I first came across Kesey as a kickass novelist, Sometimes A Great Notion. Then I read Tom Wolfe, saw Cuckoo's Nest, and realized Kesey was a goddam genius. O to have been on that bus! I always felt far more akin to Kesey than Leary and seeing pranksterish West Coast meeting o-so-serioous and paranoid East in the Magic Bus doc is hilarious. Must see this documentary as a companion-piece to that one. Ken, thou should'st be living at this hour. We really miss you, buddy.

Next one up is the 75th anniversary of Dean and Sal's road trip across country in stolen cars, swapping cars out along the way. Sorry no details can be provided for obvious reasons but the adventure begins soon and no applications will be necessary for participation.Riders will be selected by being picked up hitchhiking along the same historic route taken by Dean and Sal.
