From a French print entitled "Une Excursion Mouvemente." Unknown source, public domain.
I am not convinced this film is G!G!G!, there are brief synopses online that describe Harold and Snub being con-men who are in turned conned by Bebe. It may be the result of a badly chopped print, but there are no signs of any of this during this film. The Harold Lloyd film title which makes more sense is "Pinched," due to the early scene of a girl getting caught with a lobster claw.

Thanks for posting this one. Years ago I came across an original movie poster for the film Going! Going! Gone! and it was a beauty. It showed Harold and Snub on a bicycle built for two and I agree this film probably is G!G!G! Wish I had the $100 back in 1980 to have bought the poster!

This is an adorable short! For those who dislike the music, mute it! You are watching a silent film here anyways.

Harold Lloyd was my dad's favourite silent move actor.

Harold is so YOUNG in this - a skinny little, cute little twerp! I sure would have gone for him. Bebe was a lucky woman. I read in a Lloyd bio that they were engaged, but she broke it off (wanted a career) and she had the engagement ring made into diamond cufflinks which Harold wore for the rest of his life. Romantic?!

There was a film issued by Pathescope in 9.5mm "Doing Doing Done" which was offered and misidentified as "Going Going Gone. The correct title of "Doing Doing Done was later correctly identified as "Are Crooks Dishonest". This copy looks like a foreign reissue of "Going Going Gone"

You're half right. I agree it must be "Pinched", but not because of the early scene. "Pinched" is also a slang term for being arrested. Harold and Snub are conned out of their bicycle by the real bank thieves when their stolen car breaks down. The posse mistakes them for the real bank robbers and arrests them while the real thieves return to town and start taking liberties with Bebe who screams for help. The boys come to the rescue and in the ensuing fight, the real crooks get pinched.

There are also copies issued in 8mm and 16mm misidentified as "Step Lively". These prints are identical to those identified by another dealer as "Count Your Change" Whether a print of the real "Step Lively " survives is not known.

An article I found in the October 5, 1918 issue of THE MOVING PICTURE WORLD (can be found at the Internet Archive) describes a bit of filming for G!G!G! and mentions that at least part of it takes place in a department store, mentioning a shoe department.

I think you've mistaken . because around the time of the issue of that top movie mag next aisle over was being filmed. (october 4,1918). so this is most likely going , going going gone!

Correction: I think you're mistaken this short for next aisle over which was being filmed at the time of the mpw issue.

My mistake the glass character one reeler that was being filmed at the of the moving picture world issue on october 5, 1918 was young mr. jazz which started on october 4th. next aisle over began filming on august 24,1918.

+Joseph Calderon Thanks. I looked at the Hal Roach list at theluckycorner.com, and I figure the events of the article actually occurred on August 30, 1918. According to the list, G!G!G! was filmed July 8-16 + Aug 30, 1918. Also filmed during that latter period was NEXT AISLE OVER (Aug 24-30, 1918), a department store short. Definitely all makes sense now.

Sure, no prob. i seen the list at lucky corner it might be the most comprehensive filmography of roach films i've ever seen. i've got the source though, from the HL encyclopedia. i have the restored version of next aisle over from the lloyd trust that i'd recorded from TCM. over two years ago. the print on this page is clearly g!g!g! not pinched. because the boy is seen without his glasses for most of the film. (a very very rare moment for the glass character) and remember this is while he's finishing up playing lonesome luke for good.

@jazzinrascal The IMDb synopsis got Going, Going Gone or Pinched does not match this film. Suggestion, translating from the French Une Excursion Mouvementee (A Journey or walk Enlivened); what about Step Lively 1917?

the look on the girls faces when one of the girls has a crab on her foot is funny the music kind of adds to the comedy cause it doesnt really fit the scene though

Who dug up the wretched music? Bad music has been the bane of silent comedy for generations. Bring on Robert Israel or Carl Davis, who wrote brilliant scores for the Comedy Collection DVD set. I turn the sound off when I watch these.

When these films were originally distributed to the cinemas their was often sheet music with them for the cinema orchestra or pianist to play. When sound and Cinemascope was introduced, the screen was mostly brought forward and some old cinemas still have the orchestra pit buried under the stage today.

Continuing.... This is another example of a foreign language translation gone awry. The French title translates roughly to "A Moving Excursion", which is a far cry from the American "Pinched".
