Here are 5 things NOT to do when starting your gray hair journey! I had so much trouble stopping at 5 so stay tuned for a part 2!
Mentioned in this video: @jackmartincolorist
And ‪@BradMondo‬
BLUE SHAMPOO VIDEO: • How to Remove Brassy, ...
Dont:
1. Tell the world you're going gray...yet.
2. Attempt to color blend your hair yourself
3. Attempt to dye your brassy ends
4. Cur your hair in a drastically different style
5. Throw out all your makeup, jewelry, and clothes because you think they wont "go" with your silver hair!
I'm Lynn and I inspire women who want to, to go naturally silver. My intention is to help you realize the freedom and power you have when you decide to let go and free yourself of the endless dye cycle by helping you become more aware of who you truly are. I make entertaining, practical, and informative videos on the transformative power of the journey toward silver hair; the shedding of a previous version of you into a new you. It is a journey for the soul! Let me help you on your journey! With much love, silver sister! 🖤🤍💋

people forget that it's just hair, less attention and it will grow back on its own, I just finished the process. I was surprised that I don't have as many gray hairs as I thought, but the very fact that I no longer have to dye my hair is a pleasure❤

I thought I would have a lot more as well, mostly because it's around my face so it was obvious to me. But that freedom of not having to dye it every couple of weeks is priceless!

I want to encourage any woman who decides to go silver to really try to go cold turkey. I went gray three years ago and used headbands and pretty scarves to detract from the demarcation line and my hair had been colored a very dark brown. Many professionals think they know what they're doing but only a very experienced colorist with a track record for this sort of processing can do it well. Also remember that even famous colorists will tell you that you will be sitting in that chair for hours and hours and pay a lot of money plus, you will have to maintain this professionally with toning, etc. Finally, the payoff is great! I get compliments on my hair and it's a pleasure going to the salon for a haircut and blow dry instead of the added ritual of coloring. I've saved so much money. Good luck and hang in there.

I lost all my hair due to chemo. It's growing back. It's about a really short pixi now. And it's actually so cute! The pixi and my grey hair look beautiful I think. And I never thought I would have a pixi much less like it. Or see my grey hair and think it's gorgeous!! But it is gorgeous and I love it! So I say give it a try cause you never know!! Seriously, I used to ha e very long hair that I would hide behind. Had compliments all the time, so I was really scared about having a pixi. A grey one none the less..... But I love it!! I do I do! Cheers everybody!

I’ve been totally natural for 6 years now. My shoulder length natural hair is brown, and white streaks started to appear around my face. At 69, I’m still very brown, and all of the white is under my hair and around my face. I really want to show off the white streaks so I wear my hair up in a bun. I started wearing big fun earrings and, yes, brighter lipstick. I’m also still working, and make sure my clothes are dressy casual, not frumpy. Saying all of this, just go for it ladies. Discover a new you, a better you, a more authentic you. I’m not judging, but my friends who still dye their hair, have this hard edge fake quality, that doesn’t go with their aging skin. Oh well, I am glad to be free of the dye routine. Good luck!

I just made the decision TONIGHT that I’m ready to go gray!!! Thank you! I haven’t told anyone yet, but wanted to announce it to the world! I e been using henna and indigo for years so my hair is dark… bleach is completely out for me. I have chin length bob atm ( just cut 12 “ off ) so hopefully in 2-3 years I’ll have a long silver gorgeous mane?

I had a little moment around 5-6 months where I was feeling uncomfortable but now I’m golden. It looks SO MUCH better than the henndigo parts! And people compliment me regularly! Still growing it out long, and have a ways to go , but do not regret my decision at all to let go of covering my natural hair

The one true way to go gray or let your own gray grow in is to do what I did. After going to the salon every 5 weeks and being blonde for more than 20 years, I decided I wanted to let my natural gray come in so I had my hair shaved to a buzz cut. I bought A Godiva's Secret wig, silver stone color and wore that for 3 months (Feb. to May) and now my natural gray hair has come in. So lovely as it is more silver than pepper and I can't wait for it to grow a few more inches. Ladies, don't be afraid, get the buzz cut and buy a wig or wear head scarves from Etsy.

So right about getting negative opinions when going silver. I got it from an older women (in my family) who had white hair already. My husband and son were totally supportive. And one time a younger man called me "that old lady". (He was not an evolved person.) JUST because of my grey. hair. I've been told I look over a decade or more younger than my age. Unsolicited. I have a lot of silver, about 4 inches and the rest is light blonde. I just use purple conditioner to tone the blonde or some Manic Panic Blue Steel with conditioner.

everyone needs to do this journey their own way- I wish someone told me not to use damaging toner. last oct I shagged out my hair in order to reveal all the natural grey grow out. it was amazing first seeing my grey hair- really fun. it shifted my way of seeing my skin tone and my look entirely. now its 6 months and I have a cute chin length blunt cut. I will be happy when I hit oct 2023 and have some length. this is quite a journey with color - its encouraged me to wear many new bright colors. definitely a life changing experience in a good way.

I’m 23 years old and about 10% grey already. I’ve decided I’m never gonna dye my hair. I’m pretty dedicated to being natural and having sustainable practices in other aspects of my life, so it wouldn’t make sense to make an exception by using toxic chemicals on my hair every month. I like my sparkly highlights and they definitely don’t mean I’m old!

I grew my hair to a certain length that suited my face shape and then for every c/m of growth, I would cut a c/m off the bottom. I wore my hair mostly in a simple French twist, which suits most face shapes. This combination worked really well.

Good advice. I'm almost 8 months into my transition and I have the grey and dark grombre. Luckily, I have wavy hair so the demarcation line is not blunt. The first 3 months I did the dye-strip method and then just left it alone. I chose to keep my hair long because of what you said, I wanted to get used to it gradually.

Personally I didn't really decide to go grey yet but I decided to stop dying my hair last year because the reaction of my scalp to the hairdye was getting worse and getting it done in the salon is getting more expensive. If I don't end up liking my grey I just have to look for a more gentle way to color my hair and figure out what works for me. So far nobody asked me anything while it's pretty obvious with quite a bit of grey already. And when they start asking questions I just tell them the reason why I do not dye it at the moment. I think in about 6 months it's long enough for the 'big chop', I don't like really short hair on myself.

No. 1. So true people makes you think negative about silver hair. No2. Agree 💯…3rd… stop colour .cut it instead…4th…never had long hair so I had no problem in cutting every few wks…..5th …..what I do not like to wear is all over black as my hair is 100 white

Hi I am 45 started menopause since a year and at the beginning I felt very resistant to accept it. But after some internal discussion I am now embracing the transition and I have decided to go silver too. I never bleached my hair the only reason I was colouring it was because of greys. So I have decided what a heck let's embrace the all thing😊😊😊 I just told my husband and mum. One question though..when should I start using blu shampoo. Thanks for your tips really helps!🎉

Yeah, I'm done with the dye. I started greying at 38, but always dyed my hair black in my twenties...as time passed, I went to the dark browns, brown/blacks, etc. I'm DONE. I'm a box dye gal...too cheap to go to a salon and pay over $200 a pop to look good every few weeks. Not only am I over it, recently, my scalp began to become sensitive....sores, itching, etc. I'm done. It's not worth my health. I have natural platinum silver and I'm rollin' with it. Keeping my fabulous brows a bit darker for punch but really.....wish I'd 86'd the dye many moons ago. For now, keeping my hair in a short, cool bob cut and then when the whole platinum "do" takes over, I'll grow it longer. I have natural curl so this journey should remain "interesting" Bottom line....we are NOT our hair. We allow it to define us for most of our lives. At this point, I'm goooooood. You be too........

Made a pact with my hubby. He wants the grey, and to do it I'll have to chop all my hair off since I am definitely not going to survive having 3 colors. So... if he wants the grey he's going to have to have me in a pixie cut until it grows out. I've been off the dye for 5 months now, and I just do a bun to hide it. So wish me luck.

I'm 2 and a 1/2 yrs in to my transition. Early on, I did my own blend. Not the typical blend. I bought a root dye in my natural dark brown color but just a little cooler tone of dark brown. I just dabbed it on the demarcation line. Yes, the dye gets on the silver and that's the point. It's the only way to blur the demarcation line. I definitely did not want to bleach the darker hair along the demarcation line. It will set you your transition back about 3 or 4 months. It was worth it for me. It didn't get brassy because I was depositing color and not lifting color. Plus, I chose the cooler brown fade in between my warmer dark hair and my cooler salt and pepper hair. This may not be suitable for those transitioning to 100% white. But you can get away with it if your salt and pepper. Just be judicious and don't apply too much.

Please don’t color your hair or any silver bleach? maintain it because i know that your hair is a beauti of crown glory! Go with the flow and it’s a long jorney to totally silver/white or more salt and pepper look you need more extra salt Grey in your look but’s your look more premature/Grey looking similar to me but you have more Grey of Course :) because i know salt and pepper look it’s little complicated
