⁠​⁠@@kristenblack6026Yes, he was the first one to enlist as he is the oldest, then Changsub and Minhyuk followed after Beautiful Pain was released. By the time they came back from the military, the maknae line enlisted in the military so they could all be together for their 10th year anniversary (and at the same time they wanted to enlist in two blocks so Peniel would never be alone). As you already may know, contrary to what YT-views/Spotify would tell, Beautiful Pain is one of their biggest hits. They all love to tease Eunkwang and say that that’s because he wasn’t in it LOL. YES! BTOB!!!! I’ve been meaning to request them all summer but there has been so much going on with EXO and Shinee and BTS this summer. This is another group I found not through their music at all but because one member, Changsub being military buddies with Key from Shinee. They are one of the funniest groups I’ve ever seen which is ironic because they are almost always crying in their mv’s. 😂 They are amazing vocalists, their Killing Voice is one of the best. For me they are the most like old school boy bands from back in the day with the harmonies and the heavy focus on ballads and break up songs. I like their newest Wind and Wish, Thriller, I’ll be your man, Wow.

Similar to how I’m not a big fan of the bubblegummy kpop but Girls Gen is too good not to love, I’m also not hugely into BTOB’s more ballad and love songs genre but because of the members’ incredible talent and hilarious personalities, they’ve become one of my favourite groups in a very short time.

In the industry since 2012 doesnt make them old only more mature and since they make their own music (write, compose and produce) they are more than KPOP idol, they are artists with set of skills that admired by juniors and seniors. They are well-known in South Korea, but people still sleeping on them internationally.

I'm VIP and BlackJack, and I recognize talent when I see it, BTOB is one of the most precious talented groups out there they absolutely deserve more love and support... BTOB wasn't only slaying their vocal and rap skills but they are singing with intense passion. They are a story teller, they made the song into acting. They are The Vocal, Harmony, Adlib and Ballad Kings. You should check their Dingo Killing Voice performance and their discography, for sure you will love them. Since you seem to like to break down the instrumentals as well as the vocals I think you found the right group to dive into! BTOB is very different from most groups I've come across, they have this timeless sound that reminds you of old-school legendary worldwide known groups, talent-wise it makes perfect sense as well (if you pair your MV reactions to a live performance reaction after, you'll see what I mean). Beautiful Pain is composed by the member that starts singing in the very beginning - Im Hyunsik. Most BTOB songs, especially in recent years, are composed by the members. I recommend BTOB's Killing Voice performance if you'd like a medley of short snippets of their songs, to get a feeling of their live vocals and songs. For MV I'd recommend firstly their biggest hit Missing You and/or Only One For Me, I'll Be Your Man, The Song, Wind And Wish (all composed by Hyunsik as well, I like the instrumentals in these song). For album reaction I recommend Be Together (latest full album) or Wind And Wish (latest mini album). All the songs in these two albums are composed by either Im Hyunsik or Lee Minhyuk (the rapper that rapped to the first part of the bridge of Beautiful Pain, at 3:48). BTOB's albums are very enjoyable to listen to from start to finish! Their "b-sides" that kpop fans like to call them, are not very b-siding for me, they all sound like title tracks and are very worth listening to. Thanks for the reaction 💙 I saw a lot comments with recommendations so I'm not going to that. You talked about how theyre different from groups like bts and exo who debuted in similar years so i'm gonna do a lil summary. Btob debuted some weeks before exo in 2012 and a year before bts but they didn't really stand out at the time. Their sound was very much what was popular at the time, still good but they didn't succeed. Btob didn't have their own color at the beginning and tried out a lot of genres which wasn't helping, they had little success with beep beep and wow but their real success came when they found their color. Btob is now known as balladdol (idols who are known for their ballads) In 2015-2016 they had their first success with the ballad trilogy which were the songs "it's okay" (their highest charting song an the time) "way back home" which was the first song to win on a music show (at the time they were the group that took the longest to win on a music show) and "remember that" which was also a success. Btob started to gain success when the members started to take creative control. A lot of songs are produced by the members hyunsik (he also did beautiful pain) the member with most production credits. Ilhoon and minhyuk are also producers but have more credits for songwriting since they write most of their raps. Peniel also writes his raps. Their song missing you which is their biggest song (also a ballad) is one of the longest charting songs in Korea (only bts charted longer) Btob is one of few groups that grew slow but steady. Their longevity speaks for itself. It's not easy to be a group for more than 11 years. I did write mostly about their ballads since that was what made them stand out but they also had success with other genres and the biggest part to their success was their incredible talent. Btob has some of the best vocalists in kpop and a great rapline
