They say the Eng trans are great but it's even more striking for native Korean speakers because of his word play.* *Ilhoonie applied as a composer at Cube but he was begged by the CEO to be a rapper. Still, he got to do what he initially planned to. He composed songs for other groups aside for BTOB.* *He's also a good vocalist (all members are regardless of position), it's baffling how talented he is. I'm not overpraising coz he's not even my bias. He's just that good. He contributed a lot on BTOB's music style so it's painful to see him go. He's a great senior to his juniors even if they're not label mates. He made us laugh a lot and gave us notable advices, it's heartbreaking to know he was actually suffering himself too which led him to do what he shouldn't have.* *I hope you adore him too as you get to know BTOB even if he left. You'll be blown away by his lyricism as you dig deeper into their discography. As always, THANK YOU for checking them out. It means a lot to us, Melody.*

So from what I remember, these were all their roles in Its Okay: Sungjae was a song writer who was really struggling to finish a song, so he went on a journey traveling to help find some inspiration. Illhoon was a radio dj who gave his advice to others, but he in his own life had some struggles he needed to overcome (specifically relationship wise). Eunkwang was a student who was working at a library/bookstore, but kept getting in trouble with his employer for trying to study on the job. Changsub was a fast food worker trying to save up enough to buy and manage his own restaurant. Minhyuk was a poor student who felt as if he was a burden to his partner and tried to break up with her for her sake, but pushed through and accepted her help and became stable financially later on. Peniel was a firefighter/first responder who felt like he was a nuisance on the job and couldn’t properly do anything, but after seeing how much he helped people he became happier and more passionate for his work. And lastly Hyunsik was a poor art student who could no longer afford the fees for his art school, but his teacher saw his struggling to make money and helped him. That’s kinda a short summary but you get the gist lmao. But seriously, It’s Okay is genuinely one of my absolute favorite K-pop songs ever lyrically, and has an incredible mv that the members did a great job acting in. Such a comforting song :’)

Haha technically Soobin looks like Minhyuk because Minhyuk is a 1990's liner. There are three rappers, in the earlier songs (pre-2016) Ilhoon tends to rap first with Minhyuk coming in for the last half of the rap, and Peniel would come in at the end of the song or with English. In the later songs it tends to be Ilhoon rap verse followed by Peniel rap verse, with Minhyuk's rap verse coming last. All the rappers write their own lyrics in every song. The vocal line is two tenors; Eunkwang (leader/main vocal) and Changsub (the really emotional voice), and two baritones; Hyunsik (the deep part of Beautiful Pain + he wrote the song) and Sungjae (Maknae).

One with deep voice is Hyunsik. You'll be surprised with how much he can do with his voice. He's got baritone voice buy can also do crazy high notes. His range is so wide. My fav vocal in BTOB.

BTOB is really one hell of a unique group. They're just so distinct and unlike any kpop group nowadays. They can do every genre but ballad is their forte. All their vocals can even pass as main vocal if they are to be in other group. Even their main rappers can sing, esp. Minhyuk (a literal all rounder). Another thing I want to mention is their live performances. If you think they're great here, you'll be surprised to see how amazing their live performances are.

Hi RJ, in the song It's Okay (released on June 4, 2015) Yes, Ilhoon was the one who is no longer with the group. He was the DJ in this song. He was like the DJ who listens to your own story and gives advice but actually he has some issues too. -he's part: 1st paragraph of the rap after the 1st chorus Sungjae was the songwriter, and I assumed that maybe he went to a journey to have inspiration in his songs but like the others he struggled finding and almost giving up. But in the end, he finally finish the song he is writing. -He's part: the first paragraph 3rd paragraph of the 1st chorus 1st &2nd paragraph of the 2nd chorus Hyunshik, he has a potential to be painter but due to financial problem he's teacher will no longer allow him if he cannot pay. That's why he worked a part time job by giving flyers and when he's teacher saw him struggling and almost had a fight with someone he allowed him to study. -He's part: the 2nd paragraph 4th paragraph with Eunkwang (before the chorus) 1 paragraph after Peniel's rap Changsub, the chicken delivery guy, as seen in the mv he has a passion of making delicious flavory chicken, and when the customers love it he gained some money and he bought that little resto. -He's part: 3rd paragraph 1st and 2nd paragraph of the 1st chorus 4th paragraph of the 2nd chorus 1 paragraph after Hyungshik with adlib of Eunkwang Eunkwang, he works on library, also because of financial problem he cannot go to school to study, so whenever he was arranging those books he made time to study. And the end his supervisor let him to study because he has potential -He's part: 4th paragraph of the 1st chorus most of the adlibs 3rd paragraph of the 2nd chorus Peniel, the fire fighter, when the accident happened, he give a first aid to the patient by giving cpr, but as seen on the mv, he was scolded by his seniors by doing that maybe they thought his doing it wrong. So he felt like he is a failure, fortunately the patient survived and he visits their site to say thank you for peniel for saving him. And that give him hope. -He's part: Rap after the 2nd chorus with adlib from Chansub Minhyuk, the one who is struggling to study so he can pass on the exam, exam about eligibility to work. He felt like he is a burden to his girlfriend since he can't provide him anything that's why they almost broke up buy luckily he's girlfriend didn't give up on him and still support him until he pass the exam and got the job. PS, he is waaay older than soobin he is in 2nd gen, so let us rephrase that, "soobin looks like minhyuk". Because fans may get it the wrong way. -He's part: 2nd paragraph of the rap after Ilhoon (where the coordinates you're asking) For beautiful pain, it was Hyunshik the one who you are asking. By the way, they were only 6 members at that song because Eunkwang was on the military that time. And I bet you didn't notice. Hahaha 😅

That baritone is hyunsik and there are 2 baritones in BTOB. That singing (melodic) rap that you mentioned was Ilhoon which is his style of rap with a lot of BTOB songs including the bsides. There are 3 rappers in BTOB until 2020 and you can watch the dance version of It's Okay to point out who's singing. Also with that song, BTOB was knwn as healing idols because of the the healing song they produce to encourage and uplift their fans and listeners. The rapline wrote their own lyrics and hyunsik produces songs too

In 28:40 he is Hyunsik.. funfacts : D.O (exo) and hyunsik are besties...they used to sang together in highschool. And he was the song writter of the group. (Its okay, beautiful pain, outsider (btob4u), and still do writting for pentagon and clc).

if it helps with the timeline: it's okay and way back home were released in 2015 with all 7 members, while beautiful pain was released in 2018 when eunkwang was in the military so only 6 members. ilhoon left the group in 2020 and the others came back from the military recently by the end of 2021, so as of now they don't have a full group music video without ilhoon yet. next comeback though, only 6 members sadly 😭

BTOB has 3 rappers actually! The low voice from Beautiful Pain is Hyunsik, who is also the composer of that song. BTOB's music is largely self composed and produced. In addition to Hyunsik, the other two rappers, Minhyuk (soobin look alike) and Ilhoon (main character in 'Way Back Home' mv) also compose and produce.

These two songs made me fan. Was struggling during I'll be your man/Movie Era. I remembercrying while listening to these. Also, those funny videos(quiet and reserved idols) were all over my suggestions hahaha. Knew them before because of WGM but never really listened that much to kpop. In beautiful pain the rap-sing was Jung Ilhoon, the low tone at the end was Lim Hyunsik also composer of the song. Each rapper creates their own rap in the three songs. The rap before the end was Lee Minhyuk (Huta is his rapper name)

let me correct you, all 7 members can rap and sing. yes they have specific roles but every rapper can sing very amazingly and vis versa. its well known within the fandom that when they have a member missing any other member can take over there part if they want to on the day. :)

I think the story of the guy with the flag is he was unsure of what to do with his life so he was traveling for soul-searching. In the end he realized he wanted to write songs so the paper he left in the end was symbolizing him leaving school and following his dream.

Hello again, I've watched this a while ago and have posted my comment..this is just some additional info. BTOB initially has 7 members. 4 vocalists are EUNKWANG (the 1 working in the library in It's Okay), CHANGSUB ( the 1 who owned his own store), HYUNSIK ( the baritone and also the singer in the part of Fireman Peniel) and SUNGJAE ( the 1 hiking with a backpack looking for inspiration to finish the song he's writing). 3 rappers consist of PENIEL, ILHOON (the dj in It's Okay, the boxer in Way Back Home and the 1 with a unique melodic rap) and MINHYUK ( Soobin look-alike, low and growly rap). But these vocalists can really rap and the rappers can sing,too.. can dance and play instruments, they compose and produce their own songs, that's why their music is unique and has a distinct genre..it's BTOB genre.😊 I've seen you have watched other group's guide..hope you could spare time to react to a BTOB guide.. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5CkfZmrbJier6c to associate the voice with the face and get to know them better since you'll be starting with Kingdom performances. its okay was actually 2014 along with way back home. beautiful pain was 2018. you were watching the one posted by 1toK which obtained rights to the song by 2018. its okay was deemed the healing song of that time also yes their lyrics are topnotch especially their self composed ones (which is almost all). their lyrics actually hold meaning. and they can actually perform all of the notes live all the time 😊

Thank you for reacting to these. Yes, BTOB is very different from the usual kpop groups and their music is not even considered kpop. But they are known as ballad kings coz they have amazing vocals and rap and they pour emotions to their songs. Also, known as healing idols coz their songs give comfort and hope to anyone listening. Their music is for everyone doing their own thing, having a bad day..for all that's going thru something difficult..their songs are messages of comfort and strength. BTOB sells emotions, not albums. It's Okay is a beautiful song..it's a part of their ballad trilogy together with Way Back Home and Remember That. In Way Back Home, they showcased their acting skills. Not entirely surprising coz Sungjae is really an actor, same with Ilhoon and Minhyuk. And Eunkwang and Changsub are musical actors. The part in the mv where Ilhoon's mouth is bleeding is real. He's accidentally punched for real by Hyunsik, thus the torn and bleeding lip. It was also his bday that day and so was given a bday punch,haha. Ilhoon, the one who's not with the group anymore, is the one with the low melodic rap. His voice is so unique that's why his rap is so good. Minhyuk, who's like Soobin's twin, has a low husky aggressive rap. Peniel on the other hand has a high fresh sounding rap and mostly has English words in it. The one with the low voice that you like is Hyunsik..known as the father of BTOB music coz he composed most of their songs. He is a baritone but his range is so wide he can sing high notes too. I really hope one of these days you'd try reacting to their live performances coz they're at their best. Especially with the songs IT'S OKAY, WAY BACK HOME, MISSING YOU and BEAUTIFUL PAIN. Love your reactions! BTOB totally has a different sound and vibes to what I've seen in K-pop or anywhere tbh. They always, till this day, say: "We don't sell albums, we sell emotions". Also storytellers are great description of BTOB. I don't always look up the lyrics cause you can tell what they are trying to say just by the emotions on their stages. They give 1004% in everything they do musically. The two first songs are not self-produced, but the rappers always wrote their own lyrics. The last song Beautiful pain is composed by Hyunsik, the baritone you liked. (Sungjae is also a baritone btw). Please watch BTOB's live performance to maybe get the feel of their songs more. They are well known for their live vocals (and rap ofc)! You will also get to know the faces behind the parts of the songs that you really liked. yeeEEeeeSsssss, I've been so ready for more BtoB content! I love and appreciate any reactors that take the time to get in to them, they are hands-down one of my favorite groups out there! (Also, It's Okay and Way Back Home are some of my favorites from them, so seeing them in the title already ended me rip). If you'd ever want to check out some funnier content (which will not be a mistake btw, as I can say with confidence that they are by far one of the most insane and loudest groups I have ever seen, and I follow A LOT of male groups) I will 100% recommend the "Reserved and Quiet Idols" series by 현아바라기. One of my favorites to recommend. As for guides, once again, if you ever want to, the one by ilhoon sqaud (about 26mins) is one of the best I've seen. There also a 2 part one by DAEMELRO (about 45 minutes in total) that's pretty good as well, but I'll always recommend the first one). Now to comment dump a bunch of things I wanted to address, I apologize in advance lol. It just love them too much: It's Okay: - To answer your question about Peniel: no, it wasn't him singing lol. He will be one of the ones rapping about 98% of the time (it's not 100% for me because I personally haven't seen/listened too all of their discography and content yet). Though, I believe there are clips of him singing floating around out there somewhere. Also, most of the rap you heard was Minhyuk/Ilhoon. That's just how it usually goes. Peniel's rap part was at about 8:55. He was a very unique tone imo, so it's pretty easy to identify his parts. - I don't know why but as soon as you did a backtrack on Minhyuk I somehow knew you were gonna mention Subin lmaooo. Every reactor I've watched so far, without fail, will mention it at some point. And I have to say, I've seen many idol to idol comparisons over the years, but that one is definitely one of the most uncanny. - As for Sungjae's (the guy with the backpack) and Eunkwang's (the guy in the library) stories: Sungjae had gotten into college with a music major (that's what the certificate was that he had in the beginning) and from what I assume didn't have any ideas for a song (hence the empty music sheets), so he basically went on this nationwide walking tour in order to get some inspiration(?), which he does as he fills the sheets in at the end with the notes for "It's Okay". As for Eunkwang he essentially had a job at the library, but was at the same time trying to secretly study while on the job. The card they showed on the table near the end was identification showing that he eventually got into law school. Way Back Home: - uuUUgHH, yess to everything you said about the lyrics and MVs. Phenomenal storytelling. And I bow down to all the people involved in the writing of BtoB's music, whether it be themselves (as it often is) or the producers/lyricists. - 22:00 lmao, I've always had that struggle with any and all kpop music videos. I always have to give them MULTIPLE watch throughs, the first just for the video itself, the second just for lyrics, the third for both together, and anytime after that just because I'm obsessed. Beautiful Pain: - 25:00 I always love appreciation for Ilhoon. A rap GOD and my bias wrecker. Melodies and new fans alike were all shattered when Ilhoon left (and for bs reasons in the POV of most international fans). Almost 10 years of discography and memories, and companies think they can just yeet someone like that, pretending like they were never a part of it, and it irks me every time. - Funny you mention acting, lol. Minhyuk (Subin's lookalike) and Sungjae (the one under the sheets) both have done some acting in movies/series - most notably Sungjae, whose quite famous for some of his roles. Plus 2 of the other vocalists - Eunkwang and Changsub - have done multiple musicals. - 28:35 That's Hyunsik! He definitely has my favorite voice color of the group ;u; As for your love of baritones - this group has 2 phenomenal ones! Both Hyunsik and Sungjae~ Also, I believe I remember you mentioning your intent to check out Kingdom? If so, were you planning to to that on your own time, or will you be reacting to it on Patreon?

And if you want to know how amazing their vocal, you can watch btob at immortal songs. They're so different and have incredible vocals, yes I agree. But if you want to know more different they are, you need to react their live performances. Maybe every group have a main vocal,a lead vocal, a main rapper that can make you feel "amazing" but btob have 4 main vocals, and 3 main rappers that can make you feel more more amazing...

There is a performance version of Its Ok that shows better who is singing/rapping. I hope you can dive into some of their earlier and also some of their more upbeat/goofy videos. They are truly a wild group with amazing vocals and rapping. Insane, their debut we love the super 2012 vibes. But would love to see you also react to Beep Beep and You're So Fly

This video popped up in my suggestion page. Am a melody (BTOB fan) but it’s been awhile watching “it’s okay”, “way back home” and “beautiful pain” MV. Rewatching it again, HITS. Especially pairing it along with the translated lyrics, and the scenes in the MV. Like I didn’t know that I needed to watch this MV until realising that I’m crying at the comforting lyrics (for “it’s okay” and “way back home”). BTOB is a healer with lyrics that is comforting and “healing”, TRULY.

Between the rappers, you can tell the difference by how they rap. Minhyuk is very emotional (he spits the words to give it depth and feel), Peniel sounds lazy but there(swaggy), and Ilhoons very poetic and melodic.
