Not really; there was clearly *something* at Raftel that made Roger wish for more, almost everyone assumes he wanted to be able to destroy the World Government. But Roger was already doomed to death even *before* he entered the Grand Line for their final journey, so the best he could do was hand himself to the Marines and use his execution to tell everyone in the world that there was a huge ass treasure in the end of the Grand Line, guaranteeing that hundreds of people would go insane trying to reach the island like he did and completing his dream.

Merry's burial is the first time I legit cried watching anime. Lots of times I have felt kinda shitty when someone dies, but the "death" of a boat was the first time I cried. Merry is, and always will be, as close to being a human as an inanimate object can be. The Thousand Sunny I have no current love for.

I think what Franky says is that they only show up when the ship is in grave danger, not necessarily "about to die". A Klabautermann could, maybe, warn the crew of an unseen iceberg approaching, or of an incoming enemy attack or something like that; according to Franky, usually klabautermann only warn the crew of dangers, but the story of Merry was the first time he ever heard of one taking so much physical form as to repair the ship itself.

The Merry's Helm was actually the way that sea faring ships had their steering set up in earlier periods. The simple rudder style helm is a way of showing that the Merry was an older model ship. The wheel style helm is actually a fairly late period addition.

The reason the Going Merry had a "joystick" instead of a steering wheel is because it's a caravel. This was a type of ship used between the 15th to 16th century. Columbus' flagship Santa Maria was a caravel. The steering wheel wasn't invented until the mid 17th century. I'd imagine the ships in the One Piece world have had a similar evolution. Merry hinted the ship was built from an old model.

I like to think that dock 6 will be a plane or dirigible airship sort of thing. The last mode of new different transport franky saw and used pre time skip, was the Flying Fish Riders which I think he was pretty jazzed by. The biker gang aesthetic of the Flying Fish Riders really helps too, If your franky and you see your brand on something capable of flying, wouldn't you be inspired? To connect it further a lot of frankys designs are animal influenced, I think he see's things like the yagaras and develops the mini merry. Another point is kuma sends him flying to Karakuri Island, it would be very franky to try and fly his way back, he's very much a character who tries to beat people at their own game. It maybe we have seen it because he didn't quite get it working as planned, or showing him flying too, would ruin the reveal of dock 6. To put in why I think a plane or air ship would be important, the red line is mostly protected by a massive cliffs, it's not accessible vai the sea. If we do go there or even Mariejois at all, the crew needs a way up the mountain, we saw in zou they don't currently have a good way of dealing with that kind of obstacle. It's possible it's currently a prototype and/or holds 1 or 2 people, and that's why he's not brought it out yet. But even if it's not for then, I do think there's a reason we saw how much the crew struggled to get up that elephant; if franky just needs inspiration and will build luffy anything he needs, I think he has that from three different experiences. It looks cool, it's beating someone (many devil fruit users) at their own game, the crew need it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but who knows could be a kiddy pool.

Now when i think about it Going merry last delivered them to enies lobby but she wanted to be with them until the end but later sank in enies lobby. I feel like the way Franky got off Vegapunk's island would be like some sort of flying machine. I think he built his Shogun Megazord on the island to return to Sabaody and included specs for flying. It would be cool because it would introduce the idea that Franky knows how to build flying machines from his time in Vegapunks lab and he could improve on the idea in order to build a spaceship to go into outer space. After all, they already have all other modes of transportation except sky and space, and if what he has in dock six is a flying machine, then that would only leave space as their last frontier. So if we get a space arc, Franky will be the one to help get them out there.

The Klabautermann of the Going Merry was first seen during the Skypiea Arc, when Usopp saw it fixing the heavily damaged ship, and it told him that it would strive to sail the crew farther for a little while longer.[2] Water 7 ArcEdit It was spoken of briefly by Franky after he had kidnapped Usopp, who had temporarily left the Straw Hat crew. He identified the Klabautermann and described it as a manifestation of a ship's soul brought about when it has been loved and cared for enough by its owners. Usopp then realized that it really was Merry who had spoken to him at Skypiea. Franky then revealed that if the ship were to sink with Usopp still onboard, the Klabautermann would not be able to go to Heaven, much to Usopp's further grief.[1] Enies Lobby ArcEdit When Iceburg recounted how he encountered the Going Merry during Aqua Laguna, the Klabautermann was shown speaking to him, pleading to go out to sea one last time, and this convinced him to make the ship seaworthy before the Aqua Laguna carried it away. I bet the Sunny is already partially based off the plans for Pluton, but just doesn't have some of the key features that would involve ancient machines from the void century. Then later on when we get to see the old Pluton it'll be revealed to look almost just like the Sunny and it'll actually be too worn down to use except for the core features that could later be taken and inserted into the Sunny.

The Merry's steering mechanism is called a "Tiller", and is actually pretty common on smaller sailboats. That said, the merry is probably too big for that to have been a practical design choice, unless it is mechanically assisted.

the merry is not shit at all, it is simply used for tasks it wasn't made for. the design used for the merry is similar to a cog, which is rather short, wide and sits very high in the water, making it excellent for traversing shallow coastal waters and even rivers. what this design is NOT good at is sailing the high seas, with strong weather and high waves, for that you need a ship that is long, narrow and sits deep in the water. basically the merry was doomed from teh start, not because it'S poorly designed, but because the people using it had no fucking clue on how it's meant to used.

Franky knows the blueprint of Pluton so he can make a counter measure if Pluton will ever re-appear in the story (that's why they passed down the blueprint) Besides franky knows how destructive Pluton can be, he won't just re-build Pluton if it's not necessary. My theory is someone (Blackbeard?) gonna steal the real Pluton, and franky will have to build the anti-pluton based on the knowledge of the blueprint to counteract it.
