It's 1984. I just got my first car (1970 Chevelle). I take it out for the first time and I leave the radio off a few minutes because I was nervous and didn't want to be distracted. About 10 minutes into my maiden voyage, I turn on the radio and the DJ is talking about the Who. He fades out and Going Mobile starts playing. Perfect timing. I really got into it and as I am singing along, I see a car out of my left eye skidding to a stop and I realize I'd been distracted and ran a stop sign. I turned the song off and paid more attention the rest of the trip.

I was dancing to this song at a music festival and because all the churning of the chilibeans and keg bear caused by the dancing, I shit myself. It was horrible! I had cut offs on and the shit flew everywhere. The crowd chased me out of the venue as I shit, cried, and ran for my life all at the same time!

Explanation of the chord(explanation without capo): He does a G chord where he does G on E string and instead of open B string, he does a D by putting his finger on third fret, essentially a G power chord of G & D, he leaves out the third, then he hits a D chord but takes his finger off the G string where you would be hitting the second fret for an A, plays it open for a D sus 4 (G [G string] D [B string] F# [E string] for D F# G or D sus4). On the song “However Much I Booze,” he capos on the seventh fret but starts with a D chord and then plays the G chord the same way with the his finger down on the third fret on high E & B string but keeps a B note on the low A string by hitting the second fret on the A string for the B note there. Essentially an invert chord of B D G instead of G B D. Piano player do it all the time. Almost a Similar progression.

good question, not sure what other songs on that album are capo'd. I know baba o'reilly is in F, and I've seen Pete play that live with guitar capo'd at 1 so he can do E/A/B shape power chords. Not sure any of the other songs are actually capo'd though

You had to bring theory into it. Ü Okay, you asked: (capo speak) all strings open would be Em7/4 or, A7sus4/9 /E. Right? The Dsus thing sounds/looks like you drop G on 1st string to F# and open 3rd string from A note to G, making an inversion of Gmaj7. But if you can play it, who cares the name? Pete rhymes with beat, so beat the thing - so hard it bends sharp is O.K. ♫ :P

NO CAPO. NONE. NADA. -Thorough absence of "cheating device" (Doc Watson's term). Why would Pete Townsend waste a perfectly good open low E string? He's playing in a TRIO, remember, and needs the fuller rhythm sound. Plus, you are off an octave on several notes because the capo will not permit the lower notes. The capo is thoroughly unnecessary and makes the entire guitar part sound dead. There are proper reasons for using a capo, but it is more often used as a "cheater"for mindless, simpleton methods of playing a song that are simply NOT correct. When Dick Hyman published his seminal volume, , it was for people like me. NOT for people with insufficient training. I had to struggle through much of Mr. Hyman's examples, but is helped train my ear to hear the melody correctly and make changes that did not violate the author's original music. I still struggle with some tunes that Hyman uses for teaching, but it's worth the effort. I'd suggest that you have a look at his work, but you are NOT ready! YOU should be looking for a music teacher. I am posting this because I have seen this same idiotic method of playing this SIMPLE part on two other videos. Obviously, some fraud is spreading this misinformation around. -Too many people are trying to sell themselves as music teachers. Like any profession, It takes years of serious training to become good enough to teach. Dear lord, I am lucky to have studied with a well educated, experienced and GREAT Jazz teacher. Alas, Manhattan is a place where fraud music teachers do not get far. Some day, a potential student will walk in. You will ask him to play and he will play so far above your ability and knowledge that it will make you dizzy. Are you really going to wait for such an embarrassing moment? It will not be pleasant... It's sad. times are difficult, and I know you can't get a job, but this is NOT the way. You are NOT prepared to be a minimally professional guitar teacher. I hate to think of youngsters wasting their hard-earned lawn-mowing bread on frauds like you. Can you read music? MUSIC, -NOT TAB. Do you know ALL your scales and modes? -E.g., Major, minor, blues, pentatonic, mixolydian mode, chromatic, etc? Do you teach your students how to shed their scales? How to read? -The number of sharps and flats for each key? -The circle of notes, 5ths, 6ths, 7ths, 9ths, 11ths, 13ths, diminished, sustained, augmented, etc? Did you think professional musicians would NOT see this? PS: I am old. I saw Pete play this up close, -50 or 51 years ago. There's nothing like being ancient. but at least I still have my ears. -'Taint NO stinkin' capo, trust me. Nature has deprived you of your ears. For that, I am sorry.

Wow, angry much? I could be wrong, but trust me, I didnt piss in your corn flakes, so maybe you should find out who did and take it out on them.. Be great if you could be constructive and point to an example where someone is demonstrating it the way you think it should be. Glad you are comfortable in your superiority. You didn't need to go off like that.

@@12footchain I have concluded; There is a heiarchy of levels of talant in musicianship I'm sure there becomes a point at wich a few, get trained way beyond the point of perfection. Then they expect precision and perfection wherever they go. At this point, thier superior education actually frustrates these too overly trained geniuses to the point where they are driven crazy by the growing populous of (Still very worthy) but lesser trained musicians, who want to share and do get the deserved limelight on the net. People still enjoy this and don't care if your not Liberachi. or Jimmy page for that matter. When the "holyer that thou" highly trained musicians are tortured by their own art, I conclude that you can be too over trained and let every inaccurate, almost undetectable nuance spoil your day.....or even your entire LIFE. cheers!
