I was passed two homunculous during draft, I drafted a ridiculous dimir draw 2 deck with a lot of payoffs, also pyrexian arena (to which I lost my trophy game). I ended one game with 32 homunculous in play.

homunculus horde is at its best with strix lookout since you have a cheap repeatable way of triggering it on each of your turns. think twice is also great though. sick deck and terror is a beater for sure.

My first foundations draft... W/B deck most cards under 3 mana, first game, start with 4 spells, 3 land, lose game due to drawing 13 land and 6 spells including starting hand, second game won easily, third game, hand was 2 swamp, 2 black cards, 3 white. Played my 2 black cards, drew 3 swamps and only white cards. 5th game, close loss. God i still hate the mana system after playing for 25 years...

Secluded Courtyard has been pretty playable in my experience. At worst its a colorless land and at best it lets you splash a creature. With two slagstorm though I get why you werent interested.

I've honestly been really hyped to build a Foundations cube. My friends are fairly casual commander players overall, so I feel like Foundations would be a much better basis to work out of then, say, a Vintage cube that they'd stumble over haha. I'm really curious to see what cube lists people come up with out of it!

A lot of cubes have more flat power level compared to sets, as a common goal is to incentive good drafting and play instead of luck. Foundations is not that. I think it is closer than a typical core set, but wider than the average set.

I think you probably should have cut 1 mountain and added 1 island from the start. You only have 5 red cards, yet half of your lands are red. Even though you want double red for slagstorm, I think the last game illustrates why it probably should have been a 9/6 manabase.

Can't base your entire plan around Slagstorm with only six mountains.

@@claudedavid1729 It's still 8 red sources and you're not really worried about curving out. Plus with all the card draw, more access to blue means more access to cards in general, so it's easier to find the two mountains as needed.

You need to draw 2 cards on your opponents turn to proc Homonculus Horde. Basically only possible with stuff like 2x Instant speed cantrips, Spectral Sailor with 8 mana, Thrill of Possibility, etc., which is an uncommon occurrence in limited.
