you should try to find a fan shroud that will help to keep the temps low, I have the same car, 81 with split headlight front (79-81 front) and having a shroud reduced my temp overall, on the road doing 110km/h or in trafic under a 41ºc sun

Personally, i would insist on your head having a helmet or something else covering it at all times when out in public. Save everyone from nausea.
