no, chernobyl was poor reactor design, the meltdown happened when the control rods were being inserted as an emergency shutdown, moving their graphite tips into a hotspot, leading to the meltdown

The demon core was a core for an unbuilt nuke, scientists were experimenting on it and multiple died because of them making the core go critical by accidentally letting the tungsten shield fall and cover the core giving everyone ungodly amounts of rads, one death is when a guy had a screwdriver keeping a little gap between the table and the tungsten but he accidentally knocked it off of the cap and died by the radiation being thrown directly at his everything
