I've found that a single neutron can have a big cooling effect but when that point comes, the temp is more likely to spike at any time. I've built a fully reusable rocket booster and if the thermonuclear pressure chamber distorts then it's just a matter of time before it blows out

Given the appropriate fuel? Yes. Using a modern reactor core? Assuming that none of the failsafe mechanisms worked it'd be at least this fast in most cases (you'd probably actually get a steam explosion on the reactor core and have a few seconds before the dam collapsed), if they kicked in though, it'd be far slower.

the reason that the hot water works for coolant is at that tempture you could pour over molten salt and it would cool as the salt would be colder than the reactor itself

Pretty close to it, though it seemed more medium. The reactor grew unstable due to a failed electrical test and when shut off caused a runaway reaction that caused two explosions (one steam, the other may have been steam or nuclear). Then it caught on fire, which is a bit closer to the slow meltdown.

Mean, reactors explode in movies and games, but in reality it’s a slow burn and stuff around the reactor melts. What explodes isn’t the reactor, it’s the cool and, converting to H and O, and if that isn’t vented off it’ll explode, Not the reactor.
