Service dogs fascinate me. You can see how well trained they are at all times, but there is a very subtle difference between gear on and gear off. When gear is on she's fairly still in sit position, very focused on her owner, very calm. When her gear is off, she's still extremely well behaved, but she seems a bit more energetic, a bit more curious of what other people are doing. The second the work clothes are back on, she's back into full professional mode.

I find that pretty fascinating too! Dogs are so cool! I have three, no service dogs but still very well trained. I love watching them and their body language. They behave different in different situations. For example they know the difference between „a walk“ and „we‘re moving from a to b“. On a walk they‘re allowed to sniff around, it‘s ok when they pull a bit because they want to reach a special sniffing point 😂 but when we walk from a to b, for example to go to my boyfriends place, they walk by heel, no pulling, they just know that it‘s not about them but about moving to a different place. We can go to different places like restaurants and they would behave so well! I just love them 😍

Its opposite for my GSD when it comes to leash on or leash off. Swear shes better at off leash then on. Now when choke collar is on, dont even have to pull, shes on work mode, lol, regular collar with leash, thats a fucking nightmare! 😂😂😂 But shes a great girl (currently in time-out) shes finish up her service animal training and shes getting more and more use to being on her best behavior.

Was just on a flight with someone who had a pet with a "service dog" vest. I looked at the seat behind me and it looked at me, barked and snarled. Barked at various people throughout the flight. Imagine a guide dog making life or death decisions about when to cross a street and then that dog starts yapping at it. I've heard of guide dogs being attacked in restaurants by pets masquerading as service animals (or with vests that say "emotional support animal"). There is a serious problem of pets/"emotional support" animals distracting/attacking real service animals.

It's so easy for a pet owner to buy a service dog vest and then hop on a flight with their pet, and if you think nobody does this (and every animal with a service dog vest actually has some degree of real training) you're an idiot. Also, fake service animals have REAL consequences for people with actual service animals. If you care about the wellbeing of service dogs and their owners, you should be concerned about the scourge of pets wearing service dog vests.

Service dogs perform specific tasks to help the disabled. They’re trained to not interfere; therefore if you see someone claiming their animals is a service animal and it’s sitting on the person’s lap, easily distracted, or barks at nothing, it is NOT a service animal. An ESA is not the same thing as a SA and should never wear a vest claiming it’s a service animal. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Turns out he knew that she had very high blood sugar levels and was looking out for her until she finally took her medicine. That dog wasn't trained to be a service dog. Well that is what service dogs are suppose to do. I had some women who said her dog was a service dog when I was at Yellowstone and her dog just came up to me and started to eat a sandwich out of my hand. Sorry if your dog was a service dog at one time but you trained him as a pet and no longer up to speed. I doubt the dog was a service dog at all and they just did not want to pay boarding fees like everyone else does since pets are not allowed in National parks.

I don't know the full details of it but somehow they're able to smell things like that

I have a service dog being trained to help with my autism right now! We still have to work on his stubbornness, but he’s almost there. I’m so proud of my boy and I’m praying that he will reach this level of discipline someday! Edit: For those wondering, my dog helps me to calm down during overstimulation and panic attacks. When I have panic attacks, I end up harming myself by accident. Whether it’s hitting my head, digging my nails into my skin or biting myself, my dog is to be trained to prevent me from getting that far. If I do get to that point, he is supposed to redirect me to focus on him! He will also be trained to remind me to do simple tasks like eat and take my medicine ☺️ I’m willing to answer any questions regarding the training of service dogs!!

I was at an airport once in a food court near a lady with a small dog. A woman was walking by with her toddler, and thankfully she picked the little girl up because the dog then snapped at the womans' heels! She was understandably upset, and the lady with the dog just giggled and shrugged! That could have been _so_ much worse. People with small dogs too often have this attitude of "well they're so small they can't really hurt anything!" and it's absolutely lazy as well as false, that baby could have been hurt!

They released her to me at baggage and did the crate swab at the counter there and I didn’t put her back in. They’re very open to pets everywhere in Germany. I wish people understood the differences between service animals and emotional support animals. Service animals are highly trained and go through so much to be an official service animal. Emotional support animals don’t need to be well framed or really go through much at all. I understand they can be integral to a persons mental health but people abuse the emotional support title. You can only control yourself and expect your service animal to act on their training. sadly no matter how many service items your dog is wearing or how many times you tell people they are a service dog and are working you cannot control people that want to interact with them or want to call attention to them.

@@Excalibur2 This!! I’m a dog trainer and I train for therapy dogs (dogs to visit hospitals, schools, nursing homes, etc) and so many people think these are service dogs but they aren’t. There seriously needs to be more regulation on what dogs can get service dog vests honestly. I’ve seen way to many dogs wear those vests but are legit so misbehaved and untrained and sometimes snap at other dogs even.

according to google, they have really fitting traits to be a service dog! “Temperament: Outgoing, Intelligent, Alert, Patient, Loving” i did search up a while back, i think i read, that any dog can be a service dog, just needs proper training. of course some dog breeds would be better than others.

This is why people get upset at airports, videos like these put out wrong information. She needs to get a pat down not the dog. Going through security with a service dog does not exclude you from going through the scanner.

If the dog caused the metal detector to beep they would pat down the dog not her because she didn't set it off. I could imagine someone trying to smuggle drugs or a knife by shaving off a portion of the dog's coat, attaching the stuff and then making an appliance from the fur then blend it back in. I assume they're looking for things like that.

I would just like to add this is what traveling with any dog should look like! I personally travel with my shorty jack and having good sit stays, comes, and a heel is very important. If your dog can’t do this please don’t take them, before in cabin animals are banned as a whole.
