two tips for going to shows on your own, from my own experience: Stand with your back to the wall - you won't have to worry about people looking at you from behind. Get a drink in your hand (alcoholic or non alcoholic) - it always makes me feel more 'normal' and gives me something to 'do'. I feel pretty normal going to shows on my own now but those two things helped me out a lot when first going. Even more anxious because i'm 6'4" so standing in front of people always made me anixious! Also 1000000% to earplugs!!!

It's really comforting to know that going to a concert alone isn't nearly as unusual as I thought. I'm going to one next week & I'm nervous about it being awkward. It's a smaller venue, & the seating areas aren't assigned. They let you in an hour before the show, so on one hand I want to get a good seat, but on the other hand I'm like picturing myself sitting there awkwardly on my phone for a whole hour. I keep reminding myself that no one's going to be looking at me or care, but I still feel a little nervous

Going to shows alone >>>>> dragging people who aren't interested. It's also just so much easier not to have to coordinate with someone

Been to a couple by myself (maybe 2?) and idk why I always act like I’ve been stood up lol. Like I’ll be looking around the crowd as if I’m looking for someone and pretend to seem disappointed 😭

I’m going to my first concert alone in February, In another city, at the age of 18😅. As the day comes closer, I’m getting a little bit anxious but mostly excited. This video definitely helped me feel more seen. Thank you for the tips :)

Love going to shows by myself - it's nice not having to worry about anyone else and also to meet new people! I've now made a friend in London who I often bump into at shows since we have very similar music taste. In fact it turns out we'd been going to shows together for a while without noticing! Best thing is to know that everyone there has something in common, so you've always got a talking point. And if you don't want to talk to anyone you totally don't have to!

LOVE this video! I recently started going to shows alone- everything from house shows to larger venues. There is definitely some anxiety there, and I'm not the most social butterfly ever haha. Some tips that I have implemented (mainly for larger venues): - get there early to familiarize yourself with your surroundings - bring portable charger - download episodes of a TV show (beforehand) to watch while you wait and bring headphones I would also agree that if you go alone to gigs, there will likely be at least one person that will talk to you

I easily go to at least 1 show a month alone and it's some of the most fun I've ever had. Not a care in the world with what my friends might possibly think about how I dress or how I dance. Just in the moment having a good time.

I always recommend bandsintown for people that want to go to more shows! I don’t mind going alone but do hate it when I have no one to save my spot if I need to step out of the crowd to pee or get a drink lol

I loved that video. I really get the going to shows alone thing, I have done that from the beginning just because I was insecure about asking my friends who aren't into the same bands as me to go with me, but I always had a great time. But also just ask your friends I really love taking friends to see bands live that they dont know at all and just see them having a great time. I recently moved so the finding local shows tips are gonna come in handy, back where I used to leave I just knew the venues I had to check but yeah gonna try and which venues are nice here. ALSO CANT STRESS ENOUGH BUT DONT BE AFRAID TO GO TO CONCERTS ALONE! It's always a great time.

Thank you so much Kelsie!! I found it so useful since I am going to my first concert alone, it's kinda a big concert so I won't have much of a problem blending with the ambient, but a helping hand is always welcome. 😊

Missed seeing one of my favourite bands last year because my dumb bf wouldn't leave the house on a weeknight to come with me, the band broke up a month later.. never again!!

I don't even tell anyone. Just, tell them there's screaming and even if they were offering to be nice, they'll dip out. Going to shows alone is the best. I'm teaching my 13-year-old the ways now.

dude there's barely any house shows in DC now too. i think artists are just getting priced out :( like there's still a punk show now and then in someones basement or a garage, but for lo-fi indie type bands there are none it seems like

DONT go to concerts alone. This is anti-social. This is the total opposite of the 60's, go with people, have fun. Dont follow this geeky anti-social programming. Party up, go with people. Dont go with parents, now that is uncool! This girl does not know, dont listen to her.
