Oh wow! Cool to see you in relatively close airspace Niko! There's a life flight company that works out of Manassas that I deal with in the emergency field. Great airport over there! However, if you're okay with a slightly longer drive into DC, but looking for a great airport for genav, I suggest Martin State. Fantastic airport, well worth it!

Hi, Niko. Many thanks for replying to me on an earlier post. I'm probably not yet seeing your wonderful vids in strict chronological order - still a few to catch up with and I want to see them all :o) You took the trouble to make 'em - so I take the trouble to watch 'em! These videos of yours are hugely informative and motivational. I tripped over you when initially looking for good RC options (total novice in all respects) but seeing what you do and how you do it just took my breath away! I'll probably still look into seriously serious RC models but your videos make at least 2 things clear: 1) being able to control the flight of an aircraft is only one significant element of a far bigger picture (SAFETY, weather, comms, geography, precision, mechanics, IT... etc) ..... and 2) If I want to fly an RC, I want to fly an RC SR22 turbo! ..... (does one exist?! ..... :o) ) .... In any case, thank you SO much for going to the trouble of making these vids. Your "target audience" is probably other pilots and/or people far more knowledgeable than me about aviation but, believe me, your effect upon the average earthbound 308 cc owner cannot be overstated ;o) ..... Seriously, like me, I'm sure that many, many non-aviators are absorbing your videos and appreciating them no end! The views are, of course, a bonus. Keep up the good work and all the best to you and yours :o)

Thanks Graham! The videos do take a lot of effort and I try to constantly learn and improve them as well as my flying. I love RCs and there is SR22T by horizon www.horizonhobby.com/product/cirrus-sr22t-1.5m-bnf-basic/EFL5950.html The videos are geared primarily for non pilots but pilots find them interesting too. Again thanks for the great comments

Great video! After a 10 year hiatus from flying I got my medical certificate today and have a BFR planned for this Friday. I've been growing my business and one of my goals has been to be able to justify flying myself for business. Well, I've finally arrived at the point where that is a reality. So after the BFR I'll do an ICC and join the ranks of you and many others I've watched and envied over the years. I imagine there are quite a few pilots that live through you guys on youtube, hoping for the opportunity to do what you are doing. I know I have. Thanks for the videos that keep the dream of flying alive. Keep up the great work! Fly safe!

@7:27, looking on the west side of the river, south of a line drawn between the two nuclear power plant cooling towers, you'll see some white cylindrical tanks (the ones closest to the river). Just south of those there are what we call "bullet tanks" (long skinny white tanks). There are two by themselves then 4 groups between the pair that are by themselves and the river. I helped build that terminal. I did all of the control design and programming as well as startup. The two tanks by themselves are called Transmix tanks. The rest are for propane. We shipped propane from a large facility in Chicago to the terminal. The pipeline that it's shipped in moves Jet A and other products. So... they put a buffer fluid (diesel or something like it) in the line, then they inject the propane in the line, then they add a buffer fluid at the tail end. When the analyzer "sees" the buffer fluid the operator (or control system) switches the pipeline flow to the Transmix tanks, then when it sees the correct propane composition, the operator (or control system) switches flow to the propane tanks, and when the analyzer sees the second transmix cut or just to be safe, the barrel count for the amount of propane gets to a specific value, the operator switches back to the transmix tanks. Once the buffer clears the line is either shut down or returned other service. It's been a long time since I was there, about 15 years, maybe a little less, but it looks like they added propane tank capacity (more tanks). The company I work for now built a crude oil truck unloading facility near Wellsville OH a few years ago (also did the control design and programming for that). I looked but I don't think it was in frame.
@NikosWings5 жыл бұрын
Wow fascinating. Now I know how they do that and it makes sense. Thx for sharing
@MichaelLloyd5 жыл бұрын
@@NikosWings You're most welcome. I never would have thought I would see a place I helped to build on a KZbin video. It was a cool project but the most boring startup I've ever done. If you know the flow rate, pipeline diameter and start time it's pretty easy calc velocity and time (days in our case) of travel for the product to arrive. So we all crowded around the screen a little before it was supposed to arrive and when it was time, one mouse click, a cross check of valve positions and flow rate, and that was it... we were started :) Work near the river was fun. They really know how to get full use out of their rivers on the East Coast. PS- Congrats on being first to achieve 1,000 kts in a Cirrus! lol
