Little do you know of the history of K’gari. “Many other survivors of the same ship wreck later disputed Eliza's claims of capture and ill treatment. Other white people had previously been taken in by the Badtjala and had been treated well. Badtjala oral history tells that Eliza was viewed as a "mad woman" and mentally unwell. Eliza Fraser's claim eventually led to the massacre and dispossession of the island's tribe.[5]” So explain why a psycho who lied and led to the massacre and dispossession of a tribe’s home should be revered over a name that has been used for about 50,000 years.

@@teeanahera8949She didn't lie, the friggin water tank she used to escape the savages was literally in the Qld museum when I was a kid, PC-BS and history re writing in tthe mid 90's to 2000's from the Qld and Federal Labour governments was how the story was changed, same as they're now trying to push this 'First Nation' rubbish at every opportunity. It'll always be FRASER ISLAND and we voted NO so Get over it!

Inskip Teawah & Double Is have been loved to death crowds of people ( some behaving like idoits hooning etc)and too many vehicles .Never go on a weekend or, worse, a long weekend. Mid week much quieter.

The most desecrated place. I can't understand why anyone would want to go there or Fraser Island. Mismanaged, out of control recreation and tourism, it's a crying shame. But you have the 4WD lobby to thank for this and a succession of weak, watery-spined back-flipping state environment ministers and local members.

Used to go there as a kid late 70's early 80's with a few families jump on Elmer Fuds barge no waiting at all was even not full sometimes and straight to Sandy Cape no traffic My dad had a mate Royce Lanham who used to run joy flights on the Gold Coast back in the day and he landed on the beach one year to drop off my Auntie and he flew me back to the Sunny Coast 😂 was an experience taking off on the sand imagine trying to do that these days no hope 😟

We were lucky and hit Fraser during Covid, no one allowed to come over so only 3 to 5 families on island and approx 60 staff. We had the whole island to ourselves no line ups and nkgarla rocks was a breeze to drive.The day we left they opened up the Island and employed 3 barges for the traffic coming over and then there was us and 2 other cars going back to inskip point. Will never happen like that again.

Even less in the 1990’s - just lots of fools thinking they don’t need to worry about the rocks at rainbow! That always makes me laugh - the pub used to do a roaring trade while folk took odds on who’d drown their 4x4 beach driving around the point … some of us smarter people just listened to ‘local’ knowledge and leave it to the idiots who still think that ‘down the road and round the corner’ equals ‘a six-pack drive’! Unless you’ve actually lived in that part of Qld, you just simply don’t comprehend the levels of idiocy required to pretend that a “tourist spot” is an invitation to destroy pristine coastline courtesy of dickheads in 4x4’s!

Been to Fraser 4 or 5 times over the years and have never seen than many cars at Inskip ever! Will make a note not to go there during holidays.

I can still remember the days when there’d be us and 3 other cars on the barge I consider myself so lucky to have enjoyed Frazer Island before the crowds took over

I am surprised you’re unaware of who Eliza Fraser was that gave the island another name despite already having a name for 50,000 years or so. She lied about being captured and tortured by the local tribe which lead to the massacre of the Aboriginals on K’gari. The other survivors of the shipwreck spoke highly of the local Aboriginals owing their lives to being looked after by the Aboriginal tribe. The original name should be used rather than support the lies of a psycho that led to the massacre of a tribe.
