hi there~ if you guys have been following me a bit, you know that this summer is sort of an emotional one. My parents finally sold the home I lived in since I was born, and they're moving cross country. I'm spending July and August saying goodbye to my hometown and today, we're saying a special goodbye to the library. Due to ~the world~ it's been nearly 2.5 years since I was able to visit my city's public library and I was so happy to be back. The tour is quiet (duh) but I hope you enjoy - this is mainly for me so I can look back and remember it :') Thanks always and sending love!

I'm glad you're starting to feel better about your content after a month of feeling iffy. Your channel is one of the places I have found the most comfort during the past year and especially month, and I don't think that is in spite of your "funk." I think your willingness to stay in a mood or emotion in your videos, and to be able to communicate that through images and soundtrack and your honest reflection, is one of the things I appreciate most about your work, and a skill and instinct that sets your creativity apart from the kinds of quick-witted, fast-paced creators you were comparing yourself to. I honestly enjoy every single one of your videos no matter the content because, whether the pacing is slow or your day is filled with tons of stuff to record, for me it's your personality that truly entertains me. You just seem so laid back and sweet and spunky and someone I'd 100% want to be friends with. We share a lot of common interests. Also, I'm a fellow SoCal girl... born and raised in San Diego, closer to downtown in Mira Mesa but I was all over the place with my friends. I practically lived on the La Jolla and Torrey Pines beaches. Carlsbad is still one of my favorite towns and I spent tons of time driving up there, as well as Oceanside and Encinitas. You know Cari, I watched this one and from the outside, it’s clear to me that you are having a moment of growth. We don’t really recognise these till we look in hindsight other than faintly sense it. But this is a moment. It reminds me a wee bit of Michelle in “Crying in H-Mart” going back to her home after adulting a while. Of course totally different circumstances, but you are saying goodbye to all of your childhood/ young adulthood life. We associate our life with places, scents, the way it felt when I sat in that spot in the library, etc.... This is it. The next time you come back from Korea, it’ll be a new place that your younger self didn’t identify with.

I enjoyed this video, and I do think you're being hard on yourself. I hope you feel better and have more fun doing the next one though. Your local library is nice, and I think doing a tour was a neat idea during your trip! I recently went to the library here when they newly reopened after covid-19, but it wasn't the same. They were still taking considerable precautions so there was no seating anywhere in the building. I understand the reasoning, I suppose, but it made a place where I often took comfort from seem very inhospitable. Have a good rest of your trip!

I can relate to this feeling of when you see a lot of things changing and disappearing in the neighborhood you've grown. Personally I get very emotional and melancholic when you vividly remember the look, the smell, the feeling you had being in said building/place and have so many memories and than it's gone, it's a bittersweet feeling but I have to remember myself that at least I got to experience and witness all the changes for better or for worse.. :) It's so cool that you filmed your library and now you have it sealed in a video I can imagine filming all the shots of little corners where you studied and spent so much time mean a lot more to you, wish I got to do that with my own childhood library, I might just do that.. but secretly film shhh.. :) please Carry I love you and your content just the way it is, infact precisely because of the way it is, everything has become so fast paced these days that you're content is like a breath of fresh air, you inspire me!

I commented on a previous vid of yours that I’m from carlsbad too. It’s fun to see you back now. I haven’t been to the library since before Covid. I miss it. I saw an F Scott Fitzgerald one man show (old guy) in that auditorium. It was so cute. And the gallery gets great exhibits like Ansel Adams! You’ll have to check it out more often when you can.
