Hey not trying to bully you or anything but in the advance variation of the Caro-Kann in your first game after 3…Bf5 white should not play 4. Bd3 because after 4…Bxd3, black is better. That’s because white has to take the bishop with the queen otherwise they double their d pawn. White’s queen is now misplaced in the center and black can develop with tempo. I know that didn’t happen in your first game, but you shouldn’t take that risk. This is coming from a fellow caro kann player who has looked into the theory a bit. Hope you find this useful, thanks for reading this if you did.

Just some food for thought on possible gambit repertuar: in e4 e5 situations, if you know the following 3 gambits you get one of them almost every match: Urusov, Evans and Nakhmanson. Each has some great videos on youtube about them and in rapid/blitz games they all are playble even aginst grand masters even if they play the "best" moves in the opening, but due to how dangerous they are for black when they don't know the lines those three are the bees knees at 1500 and below. You would need some preparation of lines for Urusov and Nakhmanson, but boy oh boy do they win you some fast games!

It isn’t free. That is because during the middle game that pawn covers the rook, so if he took tha pawn then he would have opened himself up to a doubling of a rook
@darkmoonlite97973 жыл бұрын
@@marksolvent3259 I agree but the benefit outweigh the negatives, they could already double up on the g file with only minor tempo loss, the move also temporarily locks the G8 knight's best move making rook moves more awkward (either blocking the h file or moving to a useless spot.) Either way it's difficult for black to utilise the h file which is why taking on h5 is the computer suggested move

At 27:54, what about nxe5, threatening the fork on nxc6?
@brokenzipper71253 жыл бұрын
It gets you a free pawn, but Qb6 or Qd6 defuses the fork, protects the pawn, and either advances their attack or threatens the knight, respectively. The argument could be made for it, though.
@aaravbhatt7603 жыл бұрын
@@brokenzipper7125 Good argument, but I'd say that after Qd6 you can push f4 and try to get a pawn storm. The knight also removes pressure from the c4 square. I think that Qb6 is no immediate threat as it still leaves some pressure on the pawns (but I can see how it could initiate an attack on the king later on). Both queen moves do however allow you to put pressure on the black Knight, so maybe Qf4 and then g4, g5 could be strong.

Are you aware of the concept of your own pawns working with your bishops? If your pawns are on light squares then your dark square bishop is very strong however your light square bishop is very weak. In the first game it would have been good to trade off the dark sqaure bishop in the opening and leave his light sqaure bishop because your opponent made an early commitment of putting all his pawns on light squares. Hope that helps :)
