Okay...tenuous link incoming: I went to Zeebrugge on a boat. Princes Trust trip in 1998. All I remember about Belgium is the beer was strong and some lad from the Isle of Man went missing for a few hours. Andy was his name. I sent my mum a postcard from Zeebrugge. We went to Dieppe as well and it looked dead dossy and the pubs reminded me of the ones on the dock road. I remember thinking that Dieppe had a similar vibe and look to Liverpool. A port of former importance. That bloke talking about Flemish and French was interesting. I didn't know in 98 ( I was only 24) that Belgium had two languages. The Walloons are the French-speaking Belgians. *thanks to Bill Bryson.

I've lived in Belgium since 1992 and have now become a Belgian citizen so I really enjoyed that. Stoemp en Bloedworst as it is called in Flemish looked good.
