Excellent choice of a game to review and it’s wonderful to have AI moves explained by a pro. I’d like to suggest having more AI-suggested alternative moves, especially interesting ideas for the losing player to catch up.

Excellent video, as always. Whenever I'm teaching someone go I encourage my student to play san-ran-sei until they are at least 15kyu. That way they avoid getting distracted by different fuseki and at the same time they learn how to use influence.

I also have the time in my day for some longer reviews. I do like this format where only the most important moves are discussed though. Sometimes it helps me to just pause and think about why some of the moves that are glossed over are so predictable to a professional.

Good commentary and great choice of game! Really enjoyable! You DO have to remember all the way what komi the AI is assuming if the AI is fixed like Leela. :)) (To admit a little secret, I sometimes add in some nonsense yose that is wrong by a couple of points to get the AI to tell me what it thinks given the real komi rather than its assumed 7.5. This also gives me a bit more information about what those percentages mean...)

2 small mistakes: this game is from 1988, not 1998. So Takemiya would be considered in his prime and Rin, although being 46 was still a title holder. Also Rin's nickname translated in English would be: Double waist. It's term that originates from sumo wrestling about someone that cannot be thrown to the ground.

I get very sad that I can't be as good as Takemiya at playing for the center, haha. I love his games! But now everyone knows the AI stuff, and I just get reduced and erased and end up with nothing unless I play for some territory. RIP cosmic style
@ewallt3 жыл бұрын
What did the AI think of the 5-5 point?
@darekk74594 жыл бұрын
Great game but I personally hate the cosmic style in my games. I'm rather more territorial player, I like a balanced game in which we both with an opponent are justly sharing a big cake for small pieces. But when an opponent uses such moyo oriented stragedy and is trying to take away most of the cake, I'm so confused what should I do, where and when invade his moyo, or maybe I should keep calm and play in my style without playing risky too much and keep hoping that it will eventually be enough. In such situation when one player is building so huge moyo it's very difficult to judge and count the territory balance correctly but when we overlook the right moment to invade it may be the game over.

You have a habit of saying "I can win you" 10:33, native English speakers would say "I can beat you" or "I can win." And yes, I like this style of review of games. I would like you to talk more about how these styles might contrast against AI and if it would be possible to use these old styles to force AI to change some habits.
@goproyeonwoo4 жыл бұрын

To be honest it might be awkward and not a native construction but I kinda really like it.

“I will win” or “you will not beat me” is closer in emotional sentiment to “I can win you.” The assumption is the future is now set - my advantage is too great.
@grolich4 жыл бұрын
Latest katago is already stronger than leela zero, and you can change the Komi there too, which Katago respects. In addition, katago even respects Japanese counting as well, which can sometimes be important, so there’s no reason to analyze with wrong Komi... or with leela zero anymore. (I was assuming you use katago in the past because of your other videos, so was surprised to hear this).

The title is quite misleading. This is more of an analysis by you than by AI. We need AI variations and more than just a slight mention at the beginning. I'm sure there were crazy overplays and errors especially for a moyo style like Takemiya's that AI detected. Especially with such a horrible win rate at the beginning, I'm sure Takemiya only won because Rin Kaiho missed something. All human Go is imperfect but Takemiya's is definitely a lot more so just that his opponents can't figure out how to counter it and he wins by overplaying and getting away with it. rather than by actually playing sound moves with no flaws.
