Even after you’ve caught more fish than I have in my lifetime, I’m 60, I love that you still get as excited as I do when catching. You’ve always been a great personality on the tourney circuit, happy to see these new chapters in your life. Thanks for all the info

Mike great video. My name is Esteban Medina and I'm from New Jersey also. I love bass fishing especially from the kayak. Thanks for the awesome detail on different ways to fish the gilly. I caught some nice bass using your tips on Frarentine lake. And also Lake Hopatcong. Keep it up with the videos at the shop. Also hope you win another Bass Master Classic this year. Remember never give up. Thanks bro. God bless you and your family. Keeping my lines wet.

Iv had Rambo trout 8-9 inch take this bait I was very surprised that they would take it got the picture showing it. But that day I was fishing for Bass. 🤯 my mind didn't see that the 35 years of fishing trout eating 3inch bluegill. New to bass fishing ☺️🎣 thank you for the evidence on the start on Bass fishing. So much stuff ⁉️

I nose hooked it with a 1/0 light wire hook and a split shot a couple inches in front of the hook. I swear on everything I love it caught every fish that looked at it during the spawn.

What size gilly?
@stanpierce47247 ай бұрын
@@ronfish481 the 90, in same color Ike's using here. Same exact one he's using on his dropshot rod. The hook thru its nose was just enough weight to make tail up nose down, but it actually floated without the split shot. Looked just like a bluegill raiding the nest. They would charge it, then try to blow it out, then they would eat it. A couple of times when I was trying to catch the buck, a big female charged in from nowhere and smoked it! Caught 11 spawning bass out of 3 different heavy pressured public ponds/lakes.

Do you use the screw lock for the Texas Rig 110?
@mikeiaconellifishing7 ай бұрын
You can YES!

Great video!! I use a screw lock hook. Do you think that is OK? I know you put the little spring in the nose and put the hook in it. Why not just use a screw lock hook? I like your footage on the lake. Love your excitement.

That will work too!!

Screw lock hooks in my experience tend to shred up the bait after a couple hooks ups. The way he threads the hook through the screw lock is probably less likely to tear out the screw lock on a hook set... I assume! Lol

The most bargain bin bait of all time. This Gill Flat rip off is still being used?
@TheRaven2437 ай бұрын
😂.. Caught my biggest bass of the year on the Gilly. I don’t use it much, but it works great if you know how to rig it.. I find it funny people call it a “rip off” of another bait. I know exactly the bait they are talking about, but what about the 50 different brands of senko style baits? Spinnerbaits? Chatterbaits? Spook style baits? I could literally go on forever about this. Every company copies off each other. Look at car manufacturers, I could show you 20 SUV’s from 20 different car companies (in the same color) that you can barely tell apart from a side profile.. Gun manufacturers, tools, clothes, you can name any products really. Berkley will never stop making the Gilly and they will always catch a ton of fish, sorry. 🤷♂️😆

@@TheRaven243 don't be sprry, I just do not share the same sentiment. I just think something as niche as the Gill Flat is a profound example. It looks identical, they put no thought into re-engineering. My issue is when Berkley does it constantly. they have zero innovation. Take the Okasana Slide for example
@TheRaven2437 ай бұрын
@@jordannarlock7995They’re literally over 100 companies making a 1911 Clone. Options are good, competition is good.. The bait looks like a bluegill, 🤷♂️so? The senko was made from a ball point pen, now we have every soft plastic manufacturer on the planet making one. Why would they do that? It works. If you’re not infringing on copyrights and have subtle changes you’re within the rules. I welcome the cheaper prices honestly that come with these “copies”. Like the Jackall Riser, they are outrageously expensive if you can even find one in stock. The Berkley Krej works similar, and no, it doesn’t look exactly like the riser. It’s more affordable and easier to find. Yes, more manufacturers are coming out the their own “riser” style lure in the future. It’s new and it works, of course companies are going to jump on that.. What about the refrigerator, vacuum cleaner, lawn mower? Literally copy after copy after copy. Back in the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s every single American car manufacturer had a inline 6 cylinder engine. They had similar displacement, similar horsepower, similar if not identical ignition systems and carburetor. It’s been happening since the invention of the wheel. 🤷♂️
