Going Overland

Going Overland

Күн бұрын

This week we run through the clean up and start getting everything back up to scratch. We just completed 26 weeks on the road with constant dust, everything needs detailing and servicing.
Just wanted to show people that just because you make it home, doesnt mean you can kick back.
the biggest issue was replacing the front end seals, in the last couple of weeks on our lap I noticed the seals leaking but didn't want to stop and spend 2 days replacing them in the middle of nowhere or trying to get seals sent out and miss the pick-up.

Thanks so much for the advice, I've been thinking about doing something like this for I while and I even looked into how much others charge, and I just couldn't expect people to pay what they are asking. I think as a hobby it would be fun, but make it a job, and all of a sudden it's stressful.

I'm a SE QLDer too, and have been wanting to do some shorter trips to get the kids out and see some of this country. It's been great watching this (just discovered your channel tonight) and seeing the tips and tricks and honest assessment of things that happened. Though trying to get the wife and kids to restrict themselves to one clothes drawer each would be the biggest challenge.
@GoingOverland

😆 they learn pretty fast when they run out of clean clothes. But honestly we didn't want to spend precious time washing clothes when there was so much to see. It was a non stop adventure. I recommend you go back to week 3 and watch from there. The first 2 were a little slower due to covid restrictions and learning to edit and upload on the road

You will find after being home for a month or two that you will look back and it will seem like it never really happened or that it was a lifetime ago. And you friends, neighbors, and colleagues will look at you and say, 'gee, you look tan. Had a holiday lately? Haven't seen you for a bit'. And that 'bit' was six months ago. Hi Adam. I was interested to hear in one of your earliest videos that cruisemaster gave your trailer a 2 inch lift on their suspension. I have a small ten year old caravan with cruisemaster independent suspension. The caravan has 235/75/R15 tyres. I want to change the tyres to match my truck size 265/75/R16 to make it easier to plan my spare tyre set up. I have asked for a two inch lift with bigger hubs. Originally they agreed but have since told me they don't do lifts. What is your advice? Thanks for all the ongoing great videos.
@GoingOverland
@GoingOverland 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ray, I would take some photos of the arms and email them again. I know they are super busy right now so they might not be motivated to do little custom jobs. Have a look at the centre line of the hub, ours used to be welded to a square bar and that was welder above the arm. The new one, that square is welded inside the arm giving us a 60mm lift.

Hi guys hope things have settled down for you and you are back to some kind of normality . Just another quick question. After having great success with the lithium battery upgrade to the camper and getting great results do you plan to upgrade the second battery in the GQ to a lithium as well. Cheers Andy.
@GoingOverland
@GoingOverland 2 жыл бұрын
Maybe. I have to do a little more research on how they handle the heat under the bonnet. I like having the battery out of the way and not taking up storage room in the back. Otherwise I'm super happy with the lithium in the camper and know there is always plenty of power in it

@@GoingOverland I think there is one out there that can be used under bonnet but I don't think it's the itech one. I have a drop down battery box mounted under my GU after it was converted to the 6.5 chev. Bit of a pain to get to but maybe an option to look at. Don't know how the handle getting wet though.

Thanks Gary, no not a mechanic, self taught. I learnt by pulling things apart, and putting them back together, and having it I the back of my head that if I can't get it right I could call a mobile mechanic. But the beauty of the old patrol, it's pretty simple and easy to learn

Another great video, thanks for posting. How did you go with sorting out the wheel alignment of the Lifestyle Trailer? Following our 8,000km trip with our Lifestyle Reconn, I also chewed out a tyre due to wheel alignment issues. Cruisemaster undertook my tyre realignment without any issues as part of my post trip servicing. I guess it shows just how much punishment the Independent Suspension has to absorb on all the gravel & outback roads. Please keep the post trip videos going as its great to see how you settle back into suburbia.
