Great info. Love your ideas. Going to invest in the nomads filter and check the pipes on the van. Agree with drinking water hose. Great vid.

Glad it was helpful! Definitely check the breather lines, I don't know why trailer makers do it, might save them $3? 🤔

Absolutely spot on 👍such great advice, we don't even like drinking the water coming out of the tap at home 😅

I use a good quality filter for my tap water.

@Philipk65 yes we do too. The difference in taste is incredible.

Yeah a lot of suburbs have really old pipes under ground, and then there is all the chlorine the add

Merry Christmas to you all. Idea. Why not a bildge pump. Through the a cheap filter, then the thristy nomad filter. This will remove the lifestraw system. If need to control bildge pump, 12 volt pwn speed controller. Or pump from source through cheap fliter. Then a bucket or jerry with gravity through thirsty nomad .

Yet more great information. Thanks mate. I actually bought a Best filter after asking you about them when you were on your big Aussie trip. It's worked well for me but these newer filters look great too. I might have to add them to my kit. 🙂
@GoingOverland Жыл бұрын
Yeah nothing wrong with the best filter, used it for years, but when I researched the Thirsty Camel filter, they are the next level. I'd wait until the best filter needs replacing before thinking about upgrading 🤠👍

The joolca. Had trouble controlling the temperature. I found the inlet wire filter had sediment build up. Have you thought about a wire inline filter for easy of clean.

Great advice Adam. I have always filled our tanks with a food grade hose and a BEST water filter. I’ll have a look at the Nomad filter.

If you are heading outback where it's always bore water it might be a better filter, but we ran the BEST filter for years with no problems

Great information on this topic! Can you get replacement cartridges for these filters and how often would you change them if that's the case?
@GoingOverland Жыл бұрын
I think the kit lasts about 9000L or something similar and the cartridges in the pre filter are replaceable. But more often than not we filling up with clean water, so I'd expect them to last even longer 🤠👍

Where do you stand with maintaining your tank on the camper between trips? Do you keep it filled or leave it empty?
@GoingOverland Жыл бұрын
We keep the tanks full. Stops mould growing in the air space above the water. If water been in tank more than a month before the next trip, we'll empty it on the grass and fresh drinking water added.
@Triple-N Жыл бұрын
@@GoingOverland would you add a small amount if tank cleaner or vinegar in the filled tank? Apparently, vinegar is good at stopping moulds.

We carry a B.E S.T. filter in our Jayco camper, I cannot see a flow direction on it. Does it matter which way you use it?
@GoingOverland Жыл бұрын
No it doesn't matter on the best. But I added a arrow on ours to try and keep one side cleaner, but it says it OK both directions
@Accolades70 Жыл бұрын
What is pressure reduction when using the filters? what sort of pump do you use to get water from stream through filters? would the Joolka pump work with these filters ??
@GoingOverland Жыл бұрын
Because we use the filters inline when filling up, there is no problems with the slight pressure loss. If we need to get water from a stream we would just use a bucket, and if it's just for showers, we would just use a paint bucket filter from bunnings. If that water was needed for drinking or cooking we would run it through the lifestraw filter, which uses gravity to flow through the filter.
@Accolades70 Жыл бұрын
@GoingOverland little bit expensive but... will have to bite the bullet I guess and get some of the pretty blue hose. :-)
