Crazy, I trained with this guy before a deployment with the Army, I think he used to work with surefire. Scary good martial artist.Some knife/pistol/flashlight/crowd control training. Blast from the past. His training made me better and may have saved my life. Mr. Williams, thanks.

Indeed very beautiful knives, I've got them all in my collection! I admire Mr.William's knowledge of tactical knives so much... he is truly a great and expert Sensei! As a Kali practising myself, I would like so much to have some blade training with him, but unfortunately I'm on the other side of the Ocean! :-)

AUS8 is not crap. I used to work for a contractor and chose an AUS8 blade for my work knife because it didn't rust and was extremely easy to sharpen. And CRKT uses a larger variety of steels than probably every other manufacturer out there

Thank you for showing the true tanto style of central Japan. I remember the first time I saw that style of blade was in an old book called "The Samurai Sword' which explained the origin of tip design and common clan tsuba's of the Takeda/Sanada clans. The piercing design was like none other on earth and I could not find a knife designed that way until I found your knives. Thank you so much I have been searching since I was a kid to find your amazing work.

You are welcome. It is interesting how a design can catch the eye when looking through history.

@ Betamaxbooty You posted your comment over a year ago so I'm a bit late to the party but I just had to post. You say the Hissatsu has a handle that will crumble because it's 2 plastic hollow shells that screw together? I have the knife and it has fiberglass reinforced nylon handles covering a set of 420j2 liners. FRN/GRN is an incredibly tough and durable material. Simply labeling it "plastic" is selling it short. Paired with the stainless steel liners, there is no way you're going to break that handle while using it for what it was designed to do, no way. It would take gross abuse like batoning to even come close to breaking this thing.

marshal, your eyes told a story when you were watching him manipulate that knife like the boss that he is: you were like, "this dude is a bad MF"

unlike the hissatsu folder, that new g10/frame lock tanto folder looks very promising. it's now on my short list.

I have had nothing but bad experiences. About half a day of contracting work in mexico, covered the entire blade with rust spots. (an aus8 ontario rat 1) And a day of arizona heat will put a coat of rust on my cold steels, or my crkt shenanigan. I've really never been satisfied with it. Especially with a bead blast! I have to have something a little more rust resistant.

interesting! i had no idea that could be a thing. It really makes sense though. I wore a spyderco military inside the waistband one time and really rusted the thing badly. And i know s30v is supposed to be almost rust proof! It might be worth making a video over. Thanks for the feedback.

williams talks about the enormous strength of the hissatsu folder handle; well, i took apart my hissatsu folder, and that handle is not as stout as he says. it's hollow plastic shells that screw together, so it looks beefy on the outside but once you examine it disassembled, it's really one of the most flimsy handles i've ever seen at that price point. that handle is immensely weaker than the blade, and would crumble under the stress that a g10 w/ liners handle or rajah3 handle would survive;

I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune. I'd probably feel the same way but my experience with it has been great. My first fixed blade was a CS Master Hunter that I got when I was a kid and just completely beat the crap out of it and neglected it for years without it ever rusting on me. Same with my new generation CS Voyager that I use as my work knife

I find it hard to believe that Naval Speacial Warfare Command is going to use a knife that is not made in the USA. The designs are nice but the material and where it is made is lacking. AUS-8 isn't crap but it isn't a great steel. If it had a titanium frame lock with CPM-154 blade and a titanium liner backing the G10 and made in the USA I would be interested.

My experience has been nothing but negative, I severely rusted an ontario rat 1 after only one day of use on a job site. The same with a CRKT shenanigan, and a cold steel spartan. But thats just my mileage. I just really don't dig it, and my money wont go towards anymore aus8.

aus8 is crap! crkt sucks for this one reason. I get rust if it sits in my pocket for a few hours. Crkt needs to step up their game and try some new steel!
