Going Solo

Күн бұрын

Join me on my first camp of summer in the forest. It has been a while since I've done a hammock camp so for this camp I bring out my Warbonnet Ridgerunner. After hiking through the forest, I find a suitable open spot for the hammock. Once camp is setup and I collect some firewood for the evening, I make myself a nice meal and just enjoy sitting by the campfire and listening to the sounds of the forest. I hope you enjoy watching!
Anyone interested in seeing more pictures from this trip or my other weekly hikes please consider checking me out on Instagram @goin.solo

Long time subscriber first time commenting. You, sir, are fast becoming my favourite yotuber. I like Kent and Simon plus others too, but you are fast overtaking them. Thank you for the content, and a HUGE thank you for not letting advertisements play during your vids. I saw your comment on an older video and I gave it a thumbs up. It is 100% an immersion breaker.

That is very kind. Kent and Simon are great! This is just a hobby for me and not a job so I definitely prefer to keep the videos uninterrupted. I completely understand others needing the additional ad revenue if this is their profession though. Really appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment 🙏😀. All the best

Exceptional video as always so relaxing I’m all lethargic now feeling sleepy Amazing all that kit fits on one bag Waking up to the birds anti trees alarm clock is basically them telling you to get on with it they don’t get 8 hours so they won’t allow you to either 😂 What a great beautiful place to pitch up for the night love the hammock looks so cosy with the tarp and the fajitas were making me drool Still my fave channel by far I’ve started watching loads more camping vids but none match to your level of pacing editing and footage it’s all top tier and really touches my soul Many thanks Look forward to 2025 adventures sir 👍👌

Really appreciate your thoughtful comments. The mornings are very early in the summers but it is nice to wake up to the chirping of the birds. I’m glad you like the pacing of the video. I do my best to capture the entire camp and show how relaxing it is. Many more videos to come in 2025 👍. Hope you have a happy new year.

Loved your opening line - "time camping isn't time spent, Its time invested" I wear a think pair of calf skin gloves whenever I'm out in the boonies. Has saved the hide on the palm of my hands numerous times. A ferro rod/striker - my all time favorite method of ignition, anytime, anyplace, never fails. 15:08; the chef begins. Yes, I "Like" all your videos. What's the final word on the camera that got wet? Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada, U.S.A.

Glad you liked the quote. Gloves are definitely a valuable piece of equipment to have in the woods. Many years ago I had my gloves with me as I always do but I decided to just quickly snap a branch to throw in the fire and it went pretty deep into the palm of my hand. My own fault for not putting on my gloves and applying too much force to break the branch but my palm really payed the price. Took weeks for it to heal and was quite sore, given its position in the crease of my hand. Glad you like all the video 😀🙏. The camera that fell in the water is the camper I used on this camp 👍. After two weeks in the rice, it works perfectly. The lens however, did need to be replaced, but that was much cheaper than having to buy a new camera body. Always appreciate your comments! All the best

Yeah they were definitely saying this is my spot get out of here 😂. I wasn’t able to capture it on camera, but they actually swooped down at me a couple times. There were two of them. I thought they were fighting at first until I realized that they had a nest in a tree not too far from where I was camping. They left me alone after they realized I wasn’t a threat. Beautiful birds. I probably would’ve picked a spot to not disturb them if I had known their nest was so close. Really cool to see them up close though. Appreciate you watching.

Everything about this camp looked AMAZING!! That freestyle looks wicked useful, especially for cooking two different vessels at the same time!! I was just curious if you had ever considered picking up a pair of tensa poles so you could hang a lightweight gathered end up in the Lakes District high country and not have to worry about pesky flat spots😄👍🏼. By the way… we love any vids you put out, hammock camps included!😊👍🏼. I’m a DD guy all the way! I know they’re a big hammock company there where you are but their customer service is second to none and that means a lot to me. That grub looked amazing! Holy smokes! You take care sir! NQU

Always nice to get out in the woods and relax by a campfire. The freestyle is one of the more versatile twig stoves I’ve used. It has even more configurations than I’ve used in my videos 👍. Regardless you still delivered a great video with the phone! I can relate as sometimes when I get super stoked with something and disaster happens it’s so crushing. That spot was super clever and perfect so I don’t blame you lol. Thanks for always bringing us solid outdoor content. I always gather tidbits of advice and ideas from all of your videos. So I appreciate you taking the time out of your life to show us your passion. Don’t fall into the “viewers upload pressure” as I think it makes a channel like your channel build more excitement when we see an upload randomly. It feels less saturated and natural when you post when you can. Way cool! 🤙

I really appreciate that! I have two young children at home and I have always maintain the mentality that life at home will always come first. I know that uploading a video every week would be beneficial to the channel but as of right now I just try to get out when I can. And I absolutely love it when I have the opportunity to get out for a camp! If I ever forced myself to make a video for channel growth it could potentially jeopardize that love for getting out camping … and that just wouldn’t be worth it to me. I would hate for this to ever feel like work. It’s really nice to hear that you don’t mind waiting for a video. 🙏😀 So thank you! All the best

I really enjoy the hammock camps. That skillet or griddle pan or whatever it is called seems an awesome bit of kit. The bridge hammock looks very comfortable, doesn't appear there's any shoulder squeeze at all. I've only tried the eno skylite and it was less comfortable for me than my gathered end hammocks because of shoulder squeeze but looks like a non issue in yours. Plus those saddlebags look huge.

Did you really pack a cast iron pan?😂 any idea what your pack weight was? Love the hammock set up, have never tried a bridge hammock. Hammocks are so much more comfortable than sleeping on the ground. My hammock set up is very close to yours, I use a Superior Hammock with a sewn in underquilt and a very similar tarp.
@GoingSoloOutdoors
@GoingSoloOutdoors 7 ай бұрын
I did 😅. This cast iron pan is much thinner and lighter than a traditional pan so I don’t mind carrying the extra weight. Didn’t weigh my pack on this camp but I’d say it was probably similar to most camps if not a bit lighter. This is only a 37L pack and I was using my summer sleeping bag and the hammock doesn’t weigh that much so overall pretty comfy. I’ve had this hammock for a few years now. It’s very comfortable and I can sleep on my side, which is nice. I still prefer a tent, but I can’t argue with how comfortable a hammock is in comparison. Really appreciate you watching. Hope you’re having a nice weekend. ATB

Hello. Thank you for the new video. You said, hammock videos don’t go as well. Why is that? Regarding the cooking, I think you put your light under a bushel. I like cooking myself, so I know the whole process behind it. From choosing the right recipe, knowing and finding and buying the ingredients, and knowing the right way of cooking them with the right timing. Therefore I think are doing a great job! I would like to see much more of your cooking. Tell us more about the dish, about the ingredients, about the way you cook it etc. That would be great!

Thank you for watching! Not sure why but hammock camping videos don’t seem to get as many views. I don’t hammock camp very often so it might be that they are just not getting recommended. But I’m not sure why really. It’s not that big of a deal I suppose. I always just go on the types of camps that I want to go on anyways. I’m really glad you like the cooking portion of the video. I typically don’t talk that much during this portion of the video because this is one of my favorite parts of the camp. I love cooking outside. I go into a little bit more detail about the cooking process in my recipes on my website. I really really appreciate you taking the time to comment. I hope you have a nice weekend. All the best.

@@GoingSoloOutdoorsOffering the information on a website is great. It’s a permanent source of information. But, getting things explained by a real human is really nice. Two ideas for the cooking part of your videos. 1. Taco Tuesday. Put a vote on your channel prior to going camping and let the community decide which Taco you should cook (from three tacos to choose, for example). 2. Cooking a specialty from the place you live in right now or from the region in the US, where you originally come from. Looking forward to your next video!

Thanks it was a really relaxing camp. There are absolutely zero predators to worry about here in the UK. Unfortunately, they’re all long gone.
