This brings back memories of my own walk from Seathwaite to Wasdale, taking the self and same route up as you did on this video via the stretcher box and Styhead Tarn. It was early February and I got battered and busted up, caught in 70 mph winds. That's when the danger becomes very real.

May I ask you a general question. You drive more than 4 hours with your car near your campsite. Then you hike for a while to the campsite, built up your equipment, you cook, you go to sleep and the next morning you do the same again, just backwards. Is all the effort worth it?
@GoingSoloOutdoors4 күн бұрын
Absolutely 👍😀. Depending on the season I get a 2-6 hr hike in which is fun. It’s nice to get away to such a beautiful area away from people as well. A 4hr drive isn’t ideal but definitely worth it to come here. And if I’m not up for the drive I have places locally I can camp as well 👍

do you recommend this tent?
@GoingSoloOutdoors5 күн бұрын
I really like this polycotton fabric but a single skin tent is definitely not as useful as a double wall tent. So no I wouldnt recommend this tent. However, Nortent does now offer a lighter version of this tent that is double walled. So if you like the design maybe checkout their website 👍

Hi, really enjoy the video, too bad you fell, don't understand, with all the rocker around why did you not make a path with them??? Signed Jim
@GoingSoloOutdoors5 күн бұрын
I try to leave as little trace as possible. I did move a rock to get across the water but made a mistake coming back a different route. I would need to move quite a few rocks to make a very stable path across. The rocks I would need would also be quite heavy. Thats why I was just searching for an area narrow enough to cross.

Did you forget the rubber sealing ring on the alcohol stove? That thing should stay in the lid and not on flame rim.

I have watched some of your videos and I am happy for you not having to have one of those nightmare nights with strong winds, minus degrees and tent walls beating up your face. This tent you used is great! You should make this your standard tent. And buffalo wings to eat was a good choice.
@GoingSoloOutdoors5 күн бұрын
This camp was very comfortable and relaxing 😀. I do really enjoy this tent but it’s not appropriate for backpacking as it weighs nearly 20lbs so I only use it on trips where I am not traveling very far. Love buffalo wings 👍😀. Really appreciate you watching!

Hi, from Montréal, we went camping in nova scotia one time it was so windy and non stop,it was giving me a real headache To the point that we packed up,and looked for another place. But nothing To compare with what this video shows. We were To families (9) people and we enjoyed camping for years. Thanks for your video, it helps me cope with these sad times, my wife Louise just passed away. Take care signed Jim
@GoingSoloOutdoors6 күн бұрын
Camping in windy conditions can definitely be a challenge. A bit easier when you only have to worry about yourself. Camping in a group definitely creates its own challenges. Unfortunately it’s windy like this quite often here in England. Earplugs definitely help when trying to get some sleep though. So sorry for your loss. Wishing you all the best.
