7:45 - "When I listen to this band, I feel spoilt. I feel like I don't deserve this excellent, excellent music." What a lovely, humble way of putting it, and I relate 110%. Also the part about how Gojira "taps into your soul". Like you said, I think one of the things Gojira do best are those extended outros to songs like this one (Explosia), Where Dragons Dwell, The Art Of Dying, etc. that have an almost *mantric* quality about them: groovy, repetitive (in a good way), and heavy as fckk, and it almost syncs with the listener's frequencies, to the point where 10 minutes have past and you didn't even realise (they especially embellish this at live performances). The contemporary world of music needs Gojira right now, and I'm forever thankful that they exist and that they're still creating this wonderful gift of music for us

joe99173122 spot on pal! Discovered this greatness in 2011 and I’m disappointed I haven’t had them in my life earlier. They’re on a whole different realm and seriously ONE OF A KIND. Not many metal bands can hit the soul but these guys do it with ease - special! I recommend them to everyone I speak to. 🤘🏽Gojira forever!

Gojira and Opeth have a knack for making the repetitive riffs that go on longer than they should be completely epic.

In the hearts of many my friend, mine too of course, but with my comment i meant they will be the next definition of "metal". I'll explain my though, there's no chance we're gonna have a new "Metallica", 'cuase these years are so different form the 80's and 90's in terms of music offer and quantity of bands and genres. But if i have to think to what "metal" means nowdays, Gojira incarnate this concept in my opinion. Melodies are epic and modern, rhythmically they incorporate both traditional and modern / proggy elements. They have a unique expressivity, distinguishable from any other band right now. They can be heavy and atmospheric. And if this it's not enough they're one of the kindest group of people out there, think about their battle to preserve and save animals. Gojira is going to be the greatest band in the world.
@axelpteeg7 жыл бұрын
+Andrea Miotto. couldn't have said it any better mon ami ! i totally agree with you.They seem to have a divine resonance that no other Metal band seem to have .Far from the satanic negative nonsense that many band seem to champion and the exhausted musical formula that so many metal bands (whatever the genre)stick to and seem to suffer from these days .They Transcend all of that . their live performance is something else too. shall i dare say ? almost religious ! longue vie a GOJIRA et au message qu'ils vehiculent ! Peace bro !

A shit song by Gojira? Such a thing does not exist. However, if you want to check a very different side of Gojira, two songs come to mind. Lowlands and Born In Winter. Lowlands is a song they wrote for the death of their mother. I swear, I cry everytime I listen to it. And Born in Winter is a masterpiece on its own.

Please do low lands. While I love this kind of gojira as much as the next man, a lot of their stuff up to the newest album has kinda sounded the same. Not that it's a bad thing, but low lands is a different song by these guys. The lyrics are about the duplantier brothers' mothers death. I've never come that close to crying listening to a piece of music.
